Needs to be cooler and have better palm rejection

Just so you know, I'm coming from an Asus Zephrus G16/Intel Core i9285h/Nvidia RTX 5080 which I bought at Best Buy as well. I only upgraded because I needed a 4K screen and wanted the better graphics card for video editing which is what this laptop was for. Here is the good: * The Screen is super bright and has amazing colors * The build feels excllent in your hand * It's incredibly fast * In Premiere Pro, I can edit 6K 10bit 420 Open Gate timelines with 4k 30p to 4k 120p B-roll on top with playback set to full...unreal!!! * With the touch screen disabled and G-Helper loaded I'm getting about 7.5hrs of battery life which is better than I expeceted. Here is the bad: * Palm rejection is really bad and it's starting to affect my productivity. When I'm answering emails or writing on this large touchpad, my palm always moves the cursor and then I'm typing in a new place. It's really frustrating and hard to avoid with such a big touchpad. It mainly happens on the right side because it's hard to get my hands over to the home keys without hitting the touchpad with my palm. * The Laptop always feels warm even in non taxing tasks. My G16 always felt super cool to the touch and only got warm when really going at it on Premiere Pro. It might be an AMD vs. Intel or rtx 5080 vs. rtx 5090 but I wish it ran cooler when the processor and graphics card were not stressed out. While I think I'm going to keep it, It's a really hard laptop to recommend. It's also hard to find something in this form factor with these performance levels and at this price. Getting something from Mac would be massively more. So because of the issues I don't feel loyal at all to Asus and if something better comes along I'll buy it and sell this.

Deep blacks and still gets very bright. The best mobile GPU you can get and a good cpu. Build quality is solid. The only cons are that it gets really hot! (So does every mobile GPU computer though). Make sure you pair it with an extra laptop fan to keep it cool. And obviously battery life sucks! (Same as any gaming laptop). It’s basically just a built in UPS and isn’t meant for taking on the go

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love most things about this laptop, it can handle almost everything I throw at it, but it has one awful and critical issue - during some sleep cycles it becomes unresponsive and refuses to wake up! When this happens, nothing works except a hard restart. This happens about once every 24 hours after the last restart. This makes it impossible to do any ongoing work sessions on it. For serious projects, I can't recommend it.

Too flat/flush and strangely height, no other keyboard feels this spaced out and hard to type on. Fresh install constantly freezing/locking up every few seconds. Screen has feature that dims when you look away or turns off and cant turn it off. Game performance terrible/laggy/stuttery. The tandem screen isn't that crazy bright. The Asus pen 2 doesnt work with the massive touchpad. Battery life is okay. About 6-7 hours unpluged doing emails and 50 minutes gaming. On high settings, runs so hot it will shut itself down in about 30 minutes. Even on low settings, games run terribly (Marvel Rivals, CS 2, Oblivion remastered) Even very low requirement games like Halls of Torment don't run smooth on this. Strange issues where windows keeps updating with no notification that it downloaded anything.
