    Best Laptop I've Ever Owned

I got this laptop because it was small and advertised as a 'gaming' laptop. I got it specifically for a year long backpacking trip across Europe, Asia, the ME, and Oceania. This thing survived ordeals you wouldn't believe. It took an absolute beating, went up to Everest base camp, survived terrifying and bumpy Krygyz roads, and the only thing that stopped working was the HDMI port. Tough little thing. As for gaming, I'm not a hardcore gamer exactly, but I've played FFXV, Hogwarts Legacy, Sims 4, etc, with PERFECT speed and graphics. I can use Blender and Unreal Engine with no lags to make mods. I haven't found anything yet this laptop couldn't handle. I'll be getting another one along these lines when this one finally calls it quits. The ONLY downside, really, is that there's only one USB port. That kinda sucks.

    TL/DR - Buy this one

2-in-1s have never been this good. I noticed this when it was first released and had wanted it for a while. I scooped it up on sale. It's really attractive, benchmarks are pretty high, though not as high as I expected. The results improved some once I removed a lot of the (mostly MS and ASUS bloatware) and some unnecessary background services and made sure the system was running at maximum performance. It runs the games I play (mainly Minecraft Java with a lot of mods) very smoothly. My Dell (i7) sometimes had a difficult time keeping up there. I haven't tried any FPS games, as I mostly play on console, but if I do, I will update the review. Given the relative benchmark scores, I would push people toward this version rather than the new one with the 6000 series Ryzen 9. I haven't actually seen the Gen 2 X13 to determine if there are any significant design differences or changes in build quality. This Gen 1 X13 system was on sale for 1199 when I purchased it (I scored an open box---excellent for about 100 less). It does not come with a Pen, which is OK. The ASUS pen is cheaply made and does not work as well on this one as the basic MS Surface pen (it was on sale for 70 when I bought it, but got it price matched to under 60 ... check A to Z). Some opt of the Wacom Bamboo. I tried it in the store, pulled it open to see how the battery was secured and it nearly broke. The keyboard could be better. It's a compact system, so I guess it couldn't accommodate any more legitimate gaming keyboard. Two of the keys popped off, but that was my fault because I was vacuuming the keys with a brush attachment. To my surprise, both clicked right back on and still feel exactly the same. This isn't normally the case with cheaper chiclet keyboards. Speaking of the keyboard, it comes with the Aura software, but this is NOT a model that is supported thereby. You can make the keyboard backlights breathe, flash, stay on, or turn off, and this can be done with the Armory Crate software alone, so just uninstall Aura. No colored LEDs here. The palm detection is pretty weak, but works fine with some of the drawing/design programs I use. I believe this is a common complaint. That being said, it wasn't really much better on my Dell or Thinkpad Yoga. I like that the Thinkpad Yoga keys retract when the computer is flipped into tablet mode (but it's old and no longer has any screen). Some similar form of protection should be standard by now on higher end 2-in-1s. I thankfully haven't dropped it yet. I will say that my Dell Latitude 2-in-1 flew through the air twice for a collective distance of 30 feet and still worked fine. The second time one of the USB ports and the MicroSD card slot were no longer usable. Of course, that machine is a higher end (and considerably more expensive) business class laptop. I believe it originally cost somewhere in the mid to high 2000s, hence a fantastic build quality. I would like this to have a MicroSD slot, though I happen to have a USB-C to SD Card adapter, so it's no big deal for me. It is the fastest laptop I have owned. I am a fan of 2-in-1s and would not buy anything else. Note that the new tablet version (Z13) has a 12th generation i9, which appears to have surpassed either Ryzen 9 in benchmarking and efficiency overall. It's also 800 more than this and 400 more than the Gen 2 X13. The battery currently lasts 6 hours or more with some charge left, unless I am watching videos or gaming (though I would normally plug it in for those purposes. This got way to long and I have to go. Hope it helps.

A great all around device that does exceptional with all of my needs. Despite its powerful CPU, it can be configured to have great battery life. It has a good discrete graphics for gaming and overall rendering, but 4 GB of VRAM might not be enough if you're looking to play the most recent games. As a tablet, I am able to take notes easily, and use it in the place of an ipad. The keyboard feels great too, with the adjustable backlighting a pleasant feature. My only concern with this device is cooling while under heavy load. It does make quite a high pitched noise as temperatures rises, but I would expect that of any high performance laptop. If you cannot compromise on performance, flexibility, a touch screen, and you're willing to pay the price, this is for you. If you're looking for just gaming, one of the ROG Zephyrus series would be more suitable for you.

    Insane machine for $1500

This machine is absolutely incredible. the two in one folding is more convenient than I thought it would be, and the performance is absolutely insane, especially for this tiny little laptop. The 5900 destroys whatever I put in front of it, and the 3050ti is amazing for games, Encoding with NVENC, you name it. even without a charger and this thing matches the speed for video encoding of my high end desktop from early 2020. The USBC power delivery is another feature I didn’t realize was so handy, as I can use any charger that ends in USBC to power this, as the Asus charger is a little big, but still portable enough. The touchscreen is great, although it keeps fingers prints and smudges, but easily cleans with a microfiber rag. The fact that the battery life can be extended 9+ hours on a machine of this power by completely turning off the 3050ti and underclocking the 5900 is also incredible. for notes with the touchscreen for school, this will last all day. And for $1500, you’ll be hard pressed to find a machine with this amount of performance and portability for anywhere else.

I just found this device yesterday and spent the night deciding whether to buy it as it's technically a downgrade to my current main laptop. I don't regret it, and you shouldn't either if you want something small for travelling but want to use it as a primary "PC" for some gaming. My existing setup was a Razer Blade 15 (i7 8c/16t) with an RTX 2080 Super Max-Q, as well as a Surface Laptop Go 2. I travel a lot so I bring my surface with me since it's very light and small, I can use it in my car when stopped to do work. I originally wanted a single device like this but there simply wasn't anything on the market last year that fit my complete criteria: 1.) Touchscreen 2.) Good dedicated GPU for gaming like Overwatch, and some AAA games once in a while 3.) Ryzen CPU preferred 4.) Enough IO options or good USB-C connectivity. This laptop simply has it all. I run a dual external display setup with my laptop (before the Razer, now this ASUS ROG 13.4 (X13?), so the setup is 1x 1440p 144Hz, 1x 1440p 60Hz, 1x Laptop Display. I leave the laptop display off when using it at my normal desk. I did buy a "j5Create USB-C Triple Display Docking Station" which I use to connect one of my external displays (144Hz) via Display Port as well as my USB peripherals like keyboard, mouse, microphone. I use the onboard HDMI for my second monitor. The only downside is that my main 144Hz display only seems to max at 120Hz with this setup, but it's OK with me. I intend to sell the Razer Blade and my Surface Laptop Go 2, to consolidate into this single device so I can grab and go when I travel and have all of my data with me. I will probably grab the ASUS XG eGPU when it's in stock, but I'm not sure yet.

It was a great laptop, the very best 2-in-1 convertible laptop I have ever used. It was great for school and for gaming. The RTX3050 TI played every game I threw at it on mostly high graphics. It was a very light weight laptop, I took it everywhere with me. The only down side was the battery lost its life after almost 2 years. The charger was awesome and small for how powerful it was. I highly recommend this laptop for anyone who is in school but still wants to game as well.

This is a great computer on paper. 13 inches, high end specs, touchscreen, etc. makes this quite enticing! For the most part, this laptop works as it should. However, there are two issues that I think are super important. 1: Switching between dedicated graphics and integrated graphics. When you play games, you would generally play with the laptop plugged in, with the discrete GPU in use. When you want to take it on the go, for example to go to school and take notes, the computer tries to switch to the integrated GPU, which only works half of the time. I found myself trying to manually end applications running on the discrete GPU to get the energy saver setting (integrated mode) to work. 2. Battery This made the battery issue worse, because this laptop does not have good battery life. So when the integrated GPU energy saving mode does not properly work, the battery would be drained within 5 or so hours. Overall good concept, perhaps a newer generation of this product could address these issues.

This is honestly one of the best 'big' purchases I've ever made. Considered all the other 14-15 (Asus, Lenovo Legion, Razer...) and having handled all of them, this lapto is hands down awesome-sauce. Sure you can get more power with another laptop, but this is a 'true' laptop. U would not believe how light and office friendly it is. And for gaming, even hardcore gaming, I have high to ultra settings on most games (not including Fortnite type games..)! I don't even think I'd be needed the eGPU for another couple of years. So happy

Great little laptop, gets hot and loud when used to the max, and when gaming, (and it can game well). Under light use (office, emails, browsing web) this laptop is a joy to use, I got almost 9 hours of very light use, I recommend it if you need a small laptop with powerful cpu and gpu and need the touch screen.

Great laptop. It's small, very fast with excellent graphics. I use the MyASUS app that comes on the machine to maximize battery life so I only charge it to a max of 60% when plugged in at home. If I am taking it somewhere, I adjust the setting to charge it to 100% to extend battery life. The software has many other customizable features that I find very useful.

I have been using the ROG Flow x13 for a few months now and it is the best laptop I have ever owned. This laptop is very powerful for its size and it has almost everything I could want in a laptop (within reason). The keyboard, while not positioned perfectly (talking to you dedicated media keys on the top that take up way too much space) is great and feels amazing to type on. The build of the laptop is solid and durable and I can tell will not scratch easy. The ports while somewhat limited are decent and fit my use case. The battery lasts longer that I expected for a laptop with this kind of power, 5-7 hours of light web and office use and 3-4 hours of power hungry use. The only problem I have with this laptop, especially because of its "gaming" branding is the screen. While I love the resolution and the 16:10 aspect ratio. The response time and extreme ghosting issues I have on my display is very disappointing. After doing some research online I have found that this problem is due to the extremally slow response time of the panel they are using for the 1080p 120hz version, about 25ms. This is terrible for gaming and causes terrible ghosting and trails of text, bright objects on dark backgrounds, and overall use. I really hope that this is just some issue with my personal laptop and can be fixed but I really hope people understand this before buying the laptop. Overall I love this laptop but the display issue brings a possibly 10/10 laptop down to a 6/10 :(.

I wasn't sure about getting this. I needed a computer for Mechanical Engineering in college. I really wanted to get a mac until I realized I needed to get a windows computer because the software I'll constantly using doesn't natively run on MacOS. They run on Windows software. I've used this computer for 3 weeks now. I was worried that the battery wouldn't be great because of the bad reviews, but they were wrong. With a normal ever day browsing, watching videos, or playing games this gets anywhere from 6-10 hours on a full charge (varies based on how intensive the things your doing are). That's with battery saving mode on btw. It charges to 100% battery in about 2 hours or less. Would 100% recommend! Best bang for your buck! It even can fold into a tablet, has a 4k, 120hz touchscreen, and has 1 tb of storage. Very powerful! Here's some good videos to watch if your possibly considering getting this computer: - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfIdamSAOm8&list=LL&index=7 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bMzlbaosNI - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcLi8W0Ysmc - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukwPX7kJMSo

Great laptop this laptop is way better than I expected, it is crazy fast and ultra powerful. The 3050 pushes 100 fps on Apex on high settings without the fans being bad, I could easily max out the screen if you play just on medium. I however got this to focus on productivity and 3d modelling/game design and this laptop is perfect easily displaying and animating high poly models in blender and dealing with lighting. The tablet mode makes texturing a breeze. The only problems that I found was the top of the keyboard right around the fan slots gets a little hot to the touch (not on the keyboard however), and the small selection of ports having two USB C ports (both have charging) and only one USB 2.0 port All in all this is a phenomenal laptop and pairs well with Bluetooth mice and headphones to make the most out of the ports.

Absolute beast of a laptop. I've had it for over a month now and haven't ran into any issues. The screen looks amazing and was easily configurable to make it color accurate. It's incredibly lightweight and portable. The battery life s decent and really depends on what I'm doing, lasting anywhere in the range of 4-7 hours (mind you, I also have mine setup to only charge up 75% capacity so that the battery lasts me a good while in the long term, being that I know I'm almost always going to find an outlet if I need one). The computer itself runs the Adobe Suite and a few casual games without issue (not using it for heavy gaming, but I'm willing to bet it'll hold up pretty decently there too). Cooling-wise, it does occasionally run a little hot but not much more than the usual amount of a laptop of it's caliber. Ultimately, it's an amazing laptop and after the amount of research I did trying to find the right one, I'm incredibly happy I settled on this one.
