Okay, I know, I rated this 5 stars. I'll explain. Pretty much the only reason people are rating this below 5 stars is pretty much because of the battery life and power throttling. For a simple explanation on these cons; the battery doesn't even last 2 hours and when gaming or whatever uses the CPU and GPU at load simeltaneously, the power going to the CPU is reduced, causing it to underperform. I don't know why they do that even though a 100w power adapter is used (most likely due to thermal limits I think). But now to the reason for the 5 stars. *Tips for battery life* Originally when I bought this laptop/superior Surface Pro but ASUS, I was expecting low battery life, but not that low. I used it with the default standard GPU settings that was set in the ASUS Armoury Crate app (this app controls what power mode the CPU and GPU are on). Also, I had the CPU setting set to silent mode. I tried using it just for Google Chrome and Microsoft OneNote on battery. End result, I got about 1 hour 30 minutes of battery life, pretty bad. Now, after fiddling around with the armoury crate settings, I changed the GPU setting to eco mode and kept silent mode for the CPU. Eco mode basically disables the main discrete GPU (the RTX 3050 Ti) and switches to the integrated GPU built into the CPU. After using Google Chrome and Microsoft OneNote on battery, I managed to get over 3 hours of battery life. And according to the Windows battery estimate, it said it had another hour to go. I think that's pretty great for a 56 wHr battery (which is small for the specs) considering that it's in such a small form factor and it's literally an Intel i9 12900H. In fact, if you just use Chrome to type notes or watch videos, etc. I think you could get north of 5 hours or more on one battery charge. Also, I still had the refresh set to 120Hz (which reduces battery life by an amount, but not much). I think by default when set to eco mode, it changes the refresh down to 60Hz to save battery. Battery life of course depends 100% on what apps you have actively open and running on your computer, but I'm just giving my experience in how I got the battery life to be manageable for college classes. And of course, 5 hours of battery for a laptop still seems pathetic compared to the 12-20 hours that other uktrabooks are getting. But, you have to consider the functionality of the Z13 compared to other laptops, that's why you're reading the reviews on this ASUS Z13. On to performance and productivity. The i9 in this laptop is amazing, the GPU performs well enough and the RAM speeds are great. During gaming, due to the power limits mentioned earlier, there is some performance loss in games but they still run at very playable framerates. For the tech guys reading this; It power throttles the CPU to 2.4GHz core clock and the GPU to about 1200MHz core clock on performance or turbo mode. But I think another main factor for the CPU throttling down so much is also temps. It gets to 75 C to 85 C when gaming. Other than that, you may see the CPU clocking all the way to upwards of 5GHz single core clock speeds in the short 5 minutes of gaming before it throttles down. Using Chrome and pretty much any application I use on this laptoo runs very smoothly. Downloading things are speedy due to the Gen4 SSD (I think it's PCIE 4.0), and is noticeabley faster than my Gen3 SSD in my desktop PC. Watching videos and movies on this laptop is also amazing. The IPS panel has great color accuracy and the peak brightness is great. Back to gaming, the 120Hz refresh rate is a big factor that I was looking for in this form factor laptop. It feels much quicker/smoother and responsive compared to the typical 60Hz screens. Games look great and they feel great when playing games like New World, Minecraft, League of Legends, Apex Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege just to name a few. On average, these games had an average FPS of about 90 FPS which is actually astonoshing to me considering that the 3050 Ti is almost the slowest 30 series GPU you can get and I'm used to my RTX 3070 in my PC which runs at almost 200 FPS average in almost all those games on low settings. One more thing I want to note on taking notes (no pun intended). I think OneNote and the other Microsoft Office applications is probably your best option for using a stylus pen for notes. I personally bought a Renaisser 530C with the digital eraser I think for $39.99 on Amazon. It works great and is a great value compared to the surface pen slim. I was on the line of getting the regular surface pen on that massive sale which got it down to $40 as well or getting the Renaisser. But, I ended up getting the Renaisser because of the finction to recharge the battery rather than having to replace the Surface Pen with a AAAA battery every now and then (they do advertise a year of battery life on one battery cycle, but I have my doubts). Personally, I think taking notes with the refresh rate set to 120Hz feels smoother than 60Hz but some people may not notice the minute difference in responsiveness. Overall, I think that the functionality of this laptop pays off and is worth your money. Speaking about value. I payed $1500 open box condition for my laptop and I would not pay anymore than that. Just my opinion but you do you. Still great value compared to any Surface Pro or Surface Laptop in terms of specs (maybe not battery life). Hopefully you read this review and it helps you decide!

Thought it might be too small. It’s not. So far I’ve used it for work (slides, excel, docs). Touch screen works great. The screen is crystal clear for shows and movies. BUT! Most importantly the games. I’ve played Warcraft classic and retail, Starfield, BG3, pga23, F122 and it’s flawless. My home setup is 5900x, 3090fe, oled 34in ultra wide 1440p 175hz This thing is light. The battery life is great. The keyboard is awesome. Does not even get warm( besides the PS on the chargers). This is a must buy.

Cool laptop! I love the surface design style and this laptop lets you have that but with actual gaming performance. Only two downsides are bad battery, and the keyboard. Key board is very flimsy and not ideal for typing or gaming.

Excellent upgrade from a Surface Pro 3

I bought this device for graphic design work. I needed something with beefier specs and a dedicated graphics card to keep up with my imaging software. So far I'm very happy with the upgrade. It even runs demanding games like MSFS 2020 on high settings. Battery life is not amazing but I always have the charger handy so It hasn't been a major issue for me. I do love that the charging port is just a USB C port. on one occasion I had forgotten my charger and I realized I could just use a phone charger I had with me. the charging was slow but I was able to make it through the day. Also I like how the computer will automatically adjust performance settings on and off the charger to try and save your battery life. Of course these settings are easy to override if you are not on a charger and still want the full performance. To make it clear this device DOES NOT come with a stylus. Every review I watched online said it did, I can confirm it does not, there's even a place in the box were it should be, but according to the Asus website it's not included. Luckily it's compatible with my Surface Platinum stylus, I did some research and found both styluses were MPP 2.0. The drawing experience with the stylus is only ok. There is a lot of wobble when drawing on the diagonal, this could possibly because of the third party stylus, but the Asus stylus has been out of stock for some time so I have no way of testing that. Software features like line smoothing in Photoshop, or stabilizer in Affinity Designer can make a big difference but if you are a digital painter and you're hoping for a 100% accurate, no latency drawing experience, this isn't it. Also palm rejection is hit or miss. I work mostly in vectors so this isn't a make or break issue for me but it could be for someone else. Overall I really like the design. It's different and futuristic but I can still turn off the RGB and take it to a meeting without it being a distraction. It is both heavier and slicker than my Surface Pro 3, which makes me paranoid that I'm going to drop the thing. Mind you I hardly consider this a complaint, just something to know. I wish it didn't have the XG mobile port, I'm just not realistically going to spend that money on such an extravagant proprietary peripheral. For me it's such a waste of space. Other than that I couldn't be happier with my purchase, and I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a powerful machine in a 2 in1 form factor.

Very good performance and very portable, includes keyboard which is nice. Keyboard feels a bit flimsy but I have yet to damage it (not that I’m trying to). Biggest qualm is that the battery life is a bit low.

I have had 2 weeks to play with the device so far. I’m overall happy with it. Improvements would be 32gb ram, usb A 3.2 instead of 2, and longer battery life. I use it more as a more powerful surface pro with light gaming. You really have to take the power adapter with you though. I really like the design with the RGB lighting.

First thing, this compact tablet is powerhouse. It is incredible the amount of performace they crammed into such a small package. That being said, I find the RTX 3050ti has issues keeping up with some newer games. Starfield runs very smooth with the graphics all set to low and with framerate capped at 30fps. I partially blame this on the lack of DLSS support for Starfield. Hogwarts legacy runs great on mediilum capped at 50fps. So, don't buy this if you think you are getting a gaming powerhouse. It is very capable though. Only other comment inhave is it lacks on graphics power when not plugged into the 100w adapter. Overall very satisfied!

This is the best tablet I've found for online teaching using Windows Ink. I like the Surface Pro X, but it doesn't run all my software. I tried the Lenovo X12, but its screen is too small. I tried the Surface Pro 8, but it seemed a bit glitchy (probably just driver-related, and updates would have eventually solved the problems). But with this ROG Z13, I get everything I need: speed, graphics, Windows Ink, full software compatibility. It all just works flawlessly. The only drawback is the high expense; the I9 processor and 3050 GPU are somewhat overkill for my immediate needs. But I'd rather have too much power than the alternative.

Better than version 1. Happy with the i9 CPU a handles everything you need. Gaming does everything as well just remember its only a 4050 so tread lighter on AAA titles. Handles everything smoothly and 16 ddr5 gets the job done. Major improvement for CPU and m.2 storage. now its 1tb instead of 512g. I still use my own external m.2 reader/docking plug in so turn this into a fantastic traveling gaming pc. 4050 16gddr5 1tb m.2. no complaints. Good job ASUS.

I've had this gaming tablet/PC for over a year now, and it is performing like it came out of the box. You can't go wrong with any ASUS products, especially their gaming PC line of computers. The battery life takes a hit because of how great it performs, but that's okay. I usually game with the computer plugged in.

I will be honest, I did not enjoy this tablet as much as I thought I would. I can see it's uses, but for me it didn't work out, so I got the X16 instead. The great thing about this laptop, as well as the other X models is that you can use the XG Mobile with it. I hope they continue the XG Mobile because it is a fantastic product, and I hope they run it with the next generation with pcie 4x8 lanes instead of pcie 3x8 (personally I don't know why they didn't use pcie 4 instead of pcie 3). This tablet runs cool, isn't that loud, and has the added benefit of usb c charging. Now, the problem with USB C with their chargers is that you can only use theirs because of how the charging is done in the MOBO, if you use a different 100W charger it will be limited to 60W. Overall it was a cool product, I can see a lot of people using this, but for me the CPU was power limited so I ultimately returned it, as well as it not having any 32GB ram options. The x16 however has upgradeable RAM, so that is what I got instead. ASUS - keep up with the XG Mobile, even offer an alternative with the connector with an eGPU desktop card option.

4/5 if you get this on sale - would be a 3/5 at full price. Good and quiet unit especially under load, mediocre gaming performance but it's a tablet. Runs a bit hot, but you're not touching the device under normal use.. Keyboard types amazingly well, speakers are pretty good, screen is fantastic. Battery life is pretty terrible, at a max of 6 hours watching videos. If you're using it for office work like I do most of the time, it's about 5~ hours max. But since it's all powered via USB-C, my portable usb-c battery mitigates this issue mostly when i'm traveling. CPU is blazing fast, the 3050ti here is a "bonus" to have since it's only a 35w~ max part. I do light gaming so it's perfect for my uses.

The tablet/laptop combo with a 12th gen cpu and a discrete gpu is great because it allows me to use this tablet with the surface pen from my surface pro that I upgraded from, while also using this as a main powerful computer. I do not have to carry around both my bulky asus laptop and tablet at the same time anymore. This laptop would be 5 stars if it didn't look like it was made for 12 year olds. Also, touch and pen use aren't as polished as the surfaces, but it gets the job done. Programs like onenote just aren't as good on this machine due to odd bugs.
