this thing is super fast!! runs everything I throw at it, from MW2, Tarkov, BF2042. Don't expect to run on ultra on certain titles but because its a laptop screen the games all look amazing. Perfect for a portable game station if you travel a lot. Highly recommend!

I’ve had this for about a year now and it runs as good as before. The storage is not that much so it may be good to buy a external hard drive. Also the matte finishing is starting to peel off but that’s ok. The laptop runs fast and can run stuff like destiny on it. Battery is good if you change your settings and leave it in eco mode if you only want to do office work.

Starting off, this laptop is fantastic. I use it for school, work, and gaming when I'm on the go. The display blows me away even at the 1080p resolution. The IPS panel is bright, sharp, very responsive, and has a stunning 16:10 ratio. The computer is very fast bootup especially with the fingerprint reader. Keyboard is great, camera is good enough. Wish it had more storage but I got this on an amazing open box sale so I'm okay with it for now.
I see A LOT of people comparing this with the G15. Hands down go with the m16 over the g15 mainly because of the display. I went into a best buy and looked at them side by side and immediately knew which one I wanted.
It is also very lightweight considering the power it has and I have no issue carrying it anywhere. I like this more than my m1 macbook air because I can run intel based VMs on it via virtual box ZERO issues for school. I can also hook it up to more than one monitor should i choose to do so (WHICH YOU CANT ON APPLE M1, APPLE TRY USING YOUR BRAINS WHEN DESIGNING YOUR MACS).
Also it does run hot when running games, which is why you want to use a controller, but in silent mode the computer has zero issues. I would recommend undervolting the CPU as much as you can. My computer ran at -80 with no crashing or issues.
The battery life is good enough although obviously not as long as macs. I don't mind because I'm typically plugged in and even when I'm not it's at most for a few hours. Battery life I'm seeing is around 5-7 hours.
Overall on sale this is a no brainer. I could've gone with the 2022 model but i was looking at a $500 increase just for mux, an improved processor, and more storage which just isn't worth it to me.

As a former MacBook user, happy I made the switch, battery life being the main trade-off. Not bad for half the price of a MacBook.
Games tested:
Cyberpunk 2077: fairly consistent high 50s to 60fps, settings high, DLSS on. RTX off.
Halo Infinite: Medium/Low settings, solid 60fps, no drops. Plays great.
Fallout 76: Ultra, solid 60fps
Forza Horizon 5: high settings (RTX on!), solid 60fps. Awesome.
The Outer Worlds: high settings, solid 60fps
Those are just the games I’ve tried so far, very pleased as there is no game yet I can’t play at/near 60fps with acceptable settings. These are all 1080p plugged into TV through hdmi, NOT bypassing iGPU, via usb-c, which I understand can give a modest boost.
Screen is fantastic, large bright and clear, track pad is excellent, so far as good as anything I’ve used on a MacBook. Fan noise is fairly loud while gaming but nothing annoyingly high pitched, and the laptop is very user friendly if you want to prioritize battery life or performance it’s just a click of a button and you can save settings so it remembers.
I needed a Windows laptop that could run sophisticated Statistics software with a nice big screen for coding if needed, (I checked with ASUS and RAM is apparently upgradeable to 40 if needed, WITHOUT losing dual-channel performance they claim but I have not tested this), and wanted it to be able to handle casual gaming for fun, and not too bulky. Checks all those boxes.

I generally don't write reviews but this laptop definitely deserves one. At the time of this review, BBY has this laptop listed as 3060 but it's a 3050Ti. I believe this particular model was made for sale at BestBuy as I couldn't find this exact laptop on Asus main webpage. Some details worth noting, this laptop comes with 16gb DDR4-3200. One is soldered onto the board which only leaves one bay up for upgradability. There is also another slot for another m.2 nvme ssd (which also comes with a screw already attached to the secondary ssd slot, very surprised. Good job Asus). The speakers are pretty darn good, not macbook pro touch bar good, but pretty close. It's clear, crisp, and has some base. Again very impressed. 4 Cell battery, which I was able to get about 5-6 hours surfing the web. But to achieve max battery life when unplugged you're gonna need to set the power option to silent so the laptop will cut power to the GPU and CPU which yields better battery life. Screen display... Gorgeous. Clear, bright, smooth. I give props to Asus for fitting a 16" screen into a 15.6" chassis due to slimming down the bezels. Even with thin bezels the screen has very little flex. It's plastic or poly carbonate after all. The main chassis barely has any flex and I love the keyboard. Single zone RGB and great travel in my opinion. Some might disagree. The webcam.... not so great. If your are gonna do conference calls and such might better off getting a external webcam. I mean it's a gaming computer, Webcam is the last thing on a gaming engineers mind. Mic quality though is great especially with noise cancellation. My fans would be on high and the mic doesn't pick it up. Did I mention how light this computer is for a 16" gaming laptop? It was surprisingly light. Probably 3.5 to 4lbs? Great port options. Ethernet port, HDMI, 2x USB-A 3.1, 2 USB-C, and micro sd card. To be honest I much rather have a full size sd card reader than micro. But then again i'm nit picking at this point. Also one of the USB-C ports can be used as a charger. I believe you can charge this laptop with a 100w Power supply according to other M16 reviews on YouTube. But don't be surprised if it's not enough juice if you are playing games or running high demanding programs/apps. You would need to use the original 240w Charger. About the charger, it seems to be pretty light and compact compared to other gaming laptop power supplies. This laptop definitely deserves my 5 stars and worth the 1500 price tag. I have listed Pros and Cons below.
Pros:
- 2x M.2 NVME SSD
- Display
- Keyboard
- Battery life
- Weight
- Port selection
- Speakers (oh so good)
Cons:
- Micro SD instead of full size
- Camera quality

Got this as a display model for half the price. Primary purpose was to finish out my engineering degree so I needed a computer to handle MATLAB and CAD programs. It also plays KSP/KSP2 and Space Engineers with no issues. Solid computer defenately worth the full price.

Great Design, Feels good in your hands, everything runs smooth, and play all my games with out a hitch! Definitely a great buy! For installing large games you need to upgrade the ssd or get a thunderbolt external drive. I did the latter and the games still run excellent.

The downsides: One thing they don’t tell you before you buy is that this computer has a Proposition 65 warning on it. I’m ignoring it since if I’m gonna die it will probably be from current events and not from cancer. Also, there’s a bit of coil whine when the backlit keyboard isn’t on so I just leave it on (I usually hate backlit keyboards and think they’re dumb but it’s not too much of a bother). It’s really not bad, but kinda annoying. No problems when the backlight is on. The keyboard layout is pretty wide which makes my right hand have some trouble hitting o’s and p’s, still getting used to that.
Battery life is ~4 hours.
The neutral: The screen colors are a little off from what I’m used to, like some blues are slightly off (not that that’s a bad thing), and I can’t tell if it’s because it’s a higher quality screen or lower from what everything else is. I have a feeling the colors and refresh rate are higher quality, and are spoiling me.
I wanted 1tb and the 512gb was a compromise, but it’s working fine for me. Obviously insanely fast. You might be like me and need to decide to just take a lower SSD in today’s market, can’t get it all.
The fans cool down only two very specific spots leaving the rest of the computer hot, and it’s almost uncomfortable moving my pinky to hit tab and having it go from being very warm to being pretty cool. Nothing bad but it was a surprise to me (only happens in prolonged intensive tasks). The GPU and CPU are stay cool though so they obviously cool the parts that matter. Screen has some backlight bleed on bottom corner but not noticeable when in use (and I’m picky).
Positives: high refresh rate (144 hz), very fast, good cooling (at least on the parts that matter). Asus has software that lets you see CPU and GPU temp and do some other stuff which is cool. However, it’s kinda buggy: the GPU won’t be detected if you put it in the default “optimized” mode, so I just use windows default for the GPU instead. The one and only effect this has is that the GPU doesn’t automatically turn off when the computer is unplugged, but you can easily do it manually (I rarely travel so it’s no big deal for me). What can I say, I really like it. The trackpad has a decent click unlike Dell.

This is a great laptop but the battery doesn't last for 2 hours maybe 3 hrs even with everything off and battery saver mode on. And it is quick to overheat so you'll hear the fan on.

Pro:
Wonderful display (same brightness as the QHD/RTX3060 model!)
Lightest 16-inch 16:10 gaming laptop
Great speakers
Finally have webcam
Con:
RTX 3050ti
Mediocre webcam quality
No numeric keypad
Speaker popping noise when battery mode
I bought the other configuration with i9 & 3060 and returned it. i9-11900H was extremely hot. Keyboard gets too hot and fans get too loud because of it. RTX3060 was not enough to run games at 1440p.
But this M16 with i7&&3050ti configuration is much cooler & quieter. Personally 1080p is enough for laptops and it is actually better for higher FPS.
If you want to play AAA games with highest presets, it would be better to choose G15 or others.
But if you are looking for productivity or okay-performance gaming laptop with: lightweight, usb-c charging, 16:10 display, quiet, decent speakers, this is your dream machine.

I went through lots of different reviews before deciding on this model. I wanted to give Ryzen a try over Intel but had to get this over the g15 as this one has a webcam which is a must for me.
The laptop is smooth, looks beautiful and quite light. It's very portable unlike my old omen 15 which had a smaller screen. The screen itself is amazing on this device. It's very bright and awesome to look at. I actually prefer watching movies on this device over my wife's MacBook 13 due to the larger screen and louder speakers.
Gaming on this device is great. I've played dota 2 and mass effect on it, both were pretty great experiences. The laptop can get slightly hot when gaming but not too much. Overall a fantastic device.

Pros:
Outstanding screen. 100% sRGB color gamut is incredible to view, and the matt screen provides the color consistency that matches the most expensive desktop monitors I look at. 16:10 ratio screen is also a big plus for workflow and productivity. There is no recorded user experience where the heat dissipating onto the screen has been an issue, despite online reviews from early on days regarding the issue. The keyboard, I would give it a 8/10. The tactical feedback is great, but the travel is slightly too short for my liking. The included RTX 3050 ti is.. well, questionable. The likes of those who get this laptop would do so for the screen and the power it provides. But GPU is definitely the underperformer in the package.

So this is from the perspective of a college student in engineering. This laptop is a powerhouse for any CAD work and even gaming. I got warzone to run at medium settings, RTX off, pretty well. The battery has lasted me basically all day, and I use this laptop for several hours on battery, mostly web and videos. The screen is amazing. It gets very bright, which lets me use this outside in the sunlight. I would even argue it's too bright at times. The 144Hz screen is amazing, never had one on a laptop but there is no turning back once you do. The 16:10 screen lets me do more work on the laptop compared to other screens. The keyboard is pretty solid for typing. It gets loud under load when playing games, but it never bugs me since I do that at home and have headphones on. Super quiet when I use it for basic school stuff outside of CAD. My only wish would be a touchscreen and this laptop would be perfect for me. It does attract fingerprints and gets a lil dirty too fast. Overall this is an amazing system for the price. The GPU is little low end for this price, but the build quality is solid and it looks amazing without screaming its a gaming laptop.

I think it is a good laptop. I'm working in the IT industry myself but honestly i have not followed the development of hardware in recent years. This laptop was bought as wished by my son who starts college in short in Architecture, he was the one who chose the laptop and try to stay within a certain budget. And he is happy with it for now. As far as i can tell the screen is very nice and it seems like the laptop has a good graphics card and enough RAM and CPU power ...

This has been a good loyal computer, I do not use it for gaming. It is mainly used for work. However, I have to open multiple systems at the same time and usually I keep a pretty busy browser and I hold up and does not slows down. I purchased two years ago and it’s still working as brand new. highly recommend, worth every penny.
