    Awesome PC after updates

I was super excited to get this laptop since I started looking for one months before. I wanted a 1070 with an i7 for under 1500 which is not an easy goal. I waited and waited until I saw this on sale. After purchase, I had a couple issues. One was that after closing the lid, the screen wouldn't come back on. After a quick google search, the firmware was updated and the issue was fixed (known issue). Second issue I had was that the PC would turn off during game play. Ever sign seemed to point towards overheating until a temp monitor was used (the ROG has a super useful button on the keyboard to directly pull up temperate and usage) and the temperatures were well in their guidelines (7700-HQ - 100c ; GTX 1070 - 85c). After a Geek Squad visit, it was advised that there may be some kind of software/OS issue and after a Windows "essential update", I have not had an issue since. I have been using it for VR without any tearing/frame drop. TL;DR - Awesome laptop for the price. It might have been a one-off issue with mine, but it was never a problem that couldn't be fixed without some guidance.

For 1300 bucks, can’t beat it for quality and performance. Drop in nMVe drive and it screams.

Clean off the bloatware, clean up the registry, and this is a great home/office laptop. Doesn't have a DVD player, so get one (for movies and music). Get an external USB 3.0 SSD/HDD for offline storage/backup. Very good computer. Fast enough for most work.

I am using this computer for designing Cad models. Has well enough memory and running 2 different programs with no glitches. Don't think I'll ever run out of storage and with the GeForce graphics card I get clarity and speed. Very nice computer, real happy with purchase.

I purchased this for my son hoping it will last him a few years. I really debated between this model and the 15.6" ASUS they had, but decided I could always upgrade the components but not the screen, so I went big. It is surprisingly light for such a large laptop which is nice. Everything this laptop has is pretty awesome. The screen looks phenomenal with the NVIDIA 1070 (which I wanted). Runs great so far, I wish I would have splurged on a SSD drive, but I can always upgrade it so not much of an issue. Battery life is the only reason for the 4 stars. It really does take a pounding given the components so I might try and upgrade that first. Otherwise, I'm happy.

    More Laptop than I expected

So many little features to this laptop, it is truly more than I probably need. The large screen is great for CAD work. The graphics memory was key to me to run a 3D engineering program and this more than delivers. Plenty of storage. Make sure you take the laptop with you when/if you buy a bag because it is slightly larger than most bags will handle. (I was fortunate to be able to use the previous bag I had for a 17" Sony laptop.) The back-lit keyboard is a nice feature to have and the ability to regulate the performance of the laptop with the built in interactive software is really an added bonus. The laptop is lightweight, the power supply is huge, so once again, make sure you get a bag with plenty of space.

Checked newer, Tigerdirect and multiple others. The specs on this laptop were equal to similar laptops that were priced $200.00 more. I can play any current game on max settings and the red illuminated keyboard and screen logo look sharp. 10/10 would by again.

The Asus ROG GL702VS is an awesome rig but still lacks certain things espcially for the price. What I mean by this is it does not have an SSD in it, it only has the HHD but is expandable so really not the biggest issue with it but you would think for $1500 it would I had been looking at a MSI that had everything i needed in it and was cheaper but i went with the ASUS because it had a better set up overall. Now dont get me wrong this thing is crazy fast and smooth runs every game i play on maxed graphics with no problem at all. I would recond it to anyone looking to get into PC gaming or prefers a laptop over a desktop.

This is not the 150hz screen version of this laptop. The BBY laptop is only 75 hz but that's still enough for a laptop! It's relatively light for having a full size 1070 in it and the price is great for what you get. I suggest putting an SSD in it

I enjoy the speed and graphics from this computer. It is super fast and light weight. I bought this computer as a open box pc and I saved a ton on money. I was able to buy a 3 year service agreement and still keep the cost under the original cost

This laptop was for my son mainly for gaming after his junk Dell Alienware system broke after 1 year and 2 months of service. It excels in that department. I have used it some myself and its just lightening fast. Would recommend to a friend.

Addictive, intoxicating power. She manages to run any game with full graphics at insane fps. Its light and practical, and extremely fast, it boots up windows 10 in under 20 seconds (after I installed a NVME PCIe ssd hard drive unit).

I replaced a 2012 Alienware with this laptop and have no regrets. Plays all the latest games at highest quality settings without a hitch. I love the keyboard layout and the speaker placement. Some downsides: Disk is slow. I would recommend getting a cheap SSD and transferring the OS to it. Booting can be very slow otherwise. Screen is only 60mhz. I find this just fine for my needs, and there is an HDMI output where you can hook up an external monitor for higher refresh rates. The left side of the laptop gets hot when you play games. Fortunately I had a cooling pad I used with my Alienware. I'd recommend something similar. The laptop otherwise runs great. I've had no real issues and I've been happily playing AAA games with no problems. For the price I paid, this is a great deal.

So, after dinner, I meandered to Best Buy in search of gaming keyboard as mine has been dead for some time. The wireless keyboard I have makes me sad every time I look at it. As I'm making my way to the gaming section, I peruse the open box section, and suddenly my eyes meet this wonderful device. Now, a little back story, my gaming rig is old, like ten years old old. I played the Witcher 3 on the lowest possible setting, and my computer couldn't keep up. This is like going from a nokia to a iphone 7, it blew my mind. It's quite, doesn't heat up that much, and the battery life is OK.

I bought this laptop for personal business use. I am not really a gamer but I want a powerful laptop capable of running business applications. Seems like my son is enjoying more the benefit of having an ROG laptop. He said it was pretty fast and the graphics is awesome. He used it with Playstation Now and able to play his PS3 games online with no lag. I would recommend this as an entry level ROG laptop. By the way, I bought M.2 card SSD to upgrade and install Win10 Pro. Blazing fast.

This would have got 5 stars but it gets hot I had to underclock mine which is cool because its powerful so there is some room to work with on that other issue I have is that it is only a 75 hertz display not 120 but that does not matter because G sync works great and display is beautiful one thing though is don't forget this is a laptop so high temps with gaming is expected but I love mine and would recommend this to anyone who needs gaming on the go

Like many before me have said this laptops 7200 RPM HDD is very slow. that being said i threw an MX300 525GB SSD in it and it was good to go! Also the heat issues were solved by under volt (intel extreme tuning utility) and i run fan speed manual at 100% at all times since it does not bother me in any way. the GTX1070 is a monster. i found this after i bought the gl502 with a 3gb 1060 and could not take it back quick enough for this one(gl702vs)
