Now, this isn't a better solution (powet to price) than pretty much any full Desktop build of similar capabilities but it works for me. My ROG Ally goes everywhere with me and wheb I game at home, I plug it into the XG Mobile. I have limited space and it works for me.

The noise and heat is more than my gaming laptop. Only use if leave docked and far enough from your hand

Paired with this, I'm blown away. This gives my desktop a run for it's money. I7, 3070 desktop. This thing is pulling better numbers in some games. It's actually wild. I'm plugged up to a 1440p 165hz panel & it's a very enjoyable experience with much better frametimes than my desktop with comparable FPS... got it on sale for 899 & I'm might not say it's worth it at MSRP, btu if you catch a good sale for 1k or less. go for it

I guess whoever originally bought it simply returned it. All the plastic, stickers, etc. was still on it. As for the XG Mobile 3080, it is absolutely great - makes the ROG Ally great to use on a monitor and I am getting great frame rates. Very happy.
