does what I need it to. I use this mainly as a portable pc to edit videos and play some games. I have a main pc to do my hardcore things so this being so thin and light is a huge plus for me. with the ryzen 9 8 core chip I can edit videos no problem. along with the 3060 I can render out videos in no time. and not mention it plays games very well. I played Kingdom Hearts 3 on it and easily got 85-120 fps(depending on the area). it does get a little warm when running harder things but it's nothing im not used to as it's so thin. though if you want to use any VR you need to update the amd drivers via amd website and not windows. other than that it's great and just so thin and light with power

Great notebook. The keyboard is amazing, it gives such a pleasant feeling when typing. It should be noted that in daylight, if the keyboard lighting is turned on, it can make it hard to read the keys as its white, such as the keyboard deck. The trackpad is great although on the smaller side. Regarding the screen: its okay. Its not bright, there is considerable ghosting and 1080p on a 14", despite what some reviewers say, is not that crisp (I would certainly not recommend going for the QHD model of this notebook as the price difference is frankly ridiculous. Despite all of this, I must admit that having a 1080p screen, makes it a lot easier to play older games as 4K panels create some issues. Speakers: they are amazing. There are four: 2 facing up and 2 more downwards facing. There is a considerable amount of base, the highs sound pretty good as well and there is little to no distortion. The best speakers on any of the laptops I have had. Battery life is great too, expect around 6 hours of casual use (by this I mean: having a couple of tabs open in Chrome, and a few other apps open in the background: Spotify, word, power point, etc). Finally, lets talk about performance: what do you expect from an eight core CPU and a 3060? Well, the G14 delivers that. All recent games run in ultra settings with a reasonable framerate and older titles will work even better. All in all: its a power beast in a lightweight chassis with a really sober looking appearance and a battery that wont disappoint.

Let me start off by saying that, I am not what you call a pro PC gamer. Matter of fact, I have not played PC gaming in many years. However, I am a big Call of Duty Warzone fan and it is pretty much the only game I have been playing on console. I do want to begin venturing into more PC gaming now that I have this, but Warzone was a primary reason for my purchase as I have heard that PC gamers have a competitive advantage over console. That could not be any more truthful too. The fluidness of gaming on this is unlike anything I have experienced. For reference, I have an Xbox One X. This laptop exceeds my expectations and Asus has really hit it out of the park IMO. This is everything I was hoping for out of a laptop of this size and it has not disappointed. I really thought it would take me more time to adjust from console/controller to keyboard/mouse, but the transition was pretty easy once I knew what keys did what. Using a mouse to shoot/aim in a shooter game like this is lightyears better than my console experience. The graphics are SO CLEAN! Everything is so crisp and smooth I really cannot believe how much power is packed in this thing. The frames show no stutter whatsoever and I have everything maxed out for graphics settings on Warzone. It is absolutely amazing the difference between FPS and latency when I compare my experience to gaming on the Xbox. I really feel like I have done myself wrong by not jumping to a gaming pc like this sooner. For someone who is not so fluid with the gaming vocabulary and language, I can appreciate what Asus includes here. The Armoury Crate software I personally find especially useful as it makes it easy for someone like me to understand and in a way “ do the work “ for me . So far, I have been satisfied with the systems default options in the software. I think for someone who is a beginner into PC gaming and is scared they might not understand what to do or the best settings to tinker with, this laptop is a great start to ease those nerves and fee comfortable. This is my first AMD powered device as well. I’ve only ever owned Intel based products but from my research I gathered, AMD has come a long way to the point where they are preferred for gaming, which also had a part to play in why I chose this specific laptop. The 144HZ FHD screen is a beauty. There is absolutely no reflection on this screen either and it’s so sharp it puts my 4k TV’s in my home to shame. I was worried with the size for gaming but it honestly is the perfect size and is ideal because I feel you are able to focus completely on the ratio this screen offers VS looking around and moving your head so much on something bigger ( I’m used to gaming on a 60inch .) I think I spent more time looking at each corner of my TV than I did finding enemies because of how big it was. This has changed that for me and has made the gaming experience even better. I feel more involved than ever before as it’s just all right there in front of me without any strain. The laptop does get hot initially when playing, but it seems to find its sweet spot and settle in. You can hear the fans, but it is not that intrusive. I was using Turbo mode while playing, but changing it to silent mode and instantly everything goes quiet within seconds. It's actually pretty neat how quick the armoury crate works it's magic. I also like that you have the ability to use your phone to adjust settings as well. The fingerprint reader works fantastic as well. In general, the keys are great, probably the best feeling keyboard I've ever typed on. Extremely tactical and well raised. The trackpad is top notch as well. The hardware inside and out is extremely impressive, this is one beautiful laptop. From screen quality, gaming quality, sound quality and build, I really find it hard to compare this to any other laptop in it's class and price. One negative thing I'd say is that I wish it came with an ethernet adapter. Now, initially I had concerns when I saw this wasn't included as the WIFI in my home isn't the best, even when I'm right in front of my router. My Xbox is hardline in because of it. I was really worried about lag when playing online but, I'm not sure if it just speaks volumes to how powerful this laptop is or if it picks up my WIFI better than other devices, I experience zero lag, even when I was on the 2nd level away from my router, I had no issues which I'm really happy with because now I don't have to confine myself to the basement to game. When I asked some of my gaming buddies about the NVIDIA RTX3060 and if it would be sufficient enough for me, they all said I'd have no issues, and were even surprised a laptop of this size had it. They were right though, as this graphics card has provided me with an experience in Call Of Duty that I have never had.. The details it offers blows my mind and I really can't wait to test out its other capability down the road. Everything loads insanely fast. I'd watch streamers playing Warzone and always wondered how everything loaded so much faster vs console and now I know first hand what that feels like. Within a full day of use, this laptop has made me feel like a true gamer. I'm very excited to use this and transition more and more away from console gaming to this. I have no doubt in my mind that it will handle everything I throw at it. For those in the market for a superb laptop that has everything you need and more, look no further. I don't see how anyone could be let down by this beast. For anyone who is like me and was scared to take the leap and not sure if it'd meet or exceed expectations after spending most of your life on console gaming, do not hesitate to buy. This has opened up a new world of gaming for me that I'm excited to expand on.

This laptop is a gaming powerhouse! For this reason, I am focusing this review on the gaming performance and gaming features of this laptop. This is NOT intended for the casual user. ASUS has equipped this laptop with the latest and greatest components the technology world has to offer. This is first and foremost the smallest gaming laptop I have seen. At just 14” this is a very compact and travel worthy companion, great for gaming on the go (thinking work, travel, school, LAN parties if anyone still does those:)). For this small of a display size, the 1920x1080 resolution still looks crisp and clear in a world now dominated by 4k and above resolutions. Keeping the resolution on the lower side has allowed this mobile RTX3060 GPU to push higher frame rates to 144hz where supported. This is a huge game changer (pun sort of intended) when it comes to winning or losing. It’s buttery smooth when playing games such as Fortnite, COD, CS:GO, or others that support this higher frame rate. The colors are very accurate as well and overall, this is a very nice display to use. There are plenty of ports to get your additional gaming peripherals connected. There is HDMI for a larger external display which you can connect to a TV, monitor, etc… for a more immersive at home experience. You will lose the 144hz FPS abilities by doing this however. There are also 2 USB-C ports which is fantastic. This is great for controllers, headsets, etc.. that support this newer, faster connection. I chose to pair my XBOX Elite Series 2 controller using one. There are also 2 more traditional USB-A ports for things like gaming mouse, external keyboard, etc. I would highly recommend the use of at least a gaming mouse since touch pads do NOT accommodate gaming well :). For it’s thickness, I was disappointed there is a lack of ethernet port. Wireless has come a long way, but there is no replacement for a hard wired connection. Fortunately, due to the USB-C and USB-A ethernet adaptors available, one can be attached to this laptop to still achieve maximum network performance, I just would have liked to see this included, even if it made the machine even thicker than it already is. Overall, the thickness is rather “thin” for a gaming laptop, especially with this hardware. The keyboard on this laptop has some great gaming centric features. On the top row where the “F” keys are, there are buttons to launch the ASUS Armory Crate app, which allows you better control over performance vs silence features, set custom gaming profiles, apply updates, check vitals, etc.. I attached a screenshot of the main page to this review for reference. I found this to be an excellent companion app to fine tune optimal settings to get the most out of a specific game I was playing. There are also fan control buttons and an AURA button which changes the lighting effect modes for the backlit keyboard. This can turn completely off, pulse, breath, or remain static depending on preference. There is an LED array on the back of the display that can be customized to display various images or text. This is not necessarily a useful feature, though in a LAN party type setting when you are gaming in a group, this can show off either your teams logo, individual gamertag, or just set a persona to let others around you know not only that you are serious about gaming, but who you are in that gaming world. I found the addition of this to be fun and sets the ASUS model apart for other makes and models in this already saturated marketplace. The first game I tested out what Fortnite. I like to use Fortnite as a base for analysis because it is constantly updating to modern visuals and performance. It has a built in FPS counter as well as help gauge competitive edge. I let the game auto config my performance settings which auto-detected the “EPIC” setting. This has all visuals on the highest quality. I tweaked the initial settings even more by choosing 144hz and enabling Directx 12 which is currently in beta, but can offer much better performance over the legacy Directx 11. Ray tracing was set to off for the initial test Obviously this was left on 1920x180 native resolution as well. I left vSync off and jumped into a match. While on performance mode, the fans spin up almost immediately and remain on through entire gaming sessions as well as most of the time not in games. You’ll likely want a headset to muffle the sound is fan noise bothers you. It’s a trade off you must accept when maximizing performance on such a small yet powerful device. All of the intro videos ran at a constant 144fps with no sign of slowing down what so ever. In game action changes things just a bit and FPS averaged around 120FPS and dipped to 80FPS when the action and visuals got heavy. I never saw the FPS drop below 70FPS, which is more than acceptable. Most of the time above 120 was where it sat. Controller response was excellent with no noticeable input lag. I never experienced a single screen tear and can appreciate the tight integration from the built in display to the RTX3060. When turning on Ray Tracing and setting the shadows, reflections, etc… to either “on” or “low” the FPS changed to cycle between 30FPS and 60FPS. The game felt overall jittery though and I would not recommend playing with RT turned on unless you remove every other setting. Running 3DMark also yielded some impressive numbers: TimeSpy resulted in an overall score of 6539 Graphics score was 6238 CPU score was 9006 The average score for any machine in the system is 7459 so 3DMark considers these numbers to be “Great”. Unigine Heaven also produced favorable results: FPS was between 40.5 FPS and 208.9 FPS. Overall score was 3021 All in all, this is a very capable yet very portable gaming rig. ASUS has attempted to pull out all the stops with this machine. It’s thoughtfully designed and packed full of features that any mobile gamer will appreciate. In a time where Nvidia 3000 series graphics cards are VERY hard to purchase, it is nice to get hands on this RTX3060 and put it through it’s paces. I would recommend this laptop to any gamer looking for a complete package that also won’t break the bank!

This is absolutely the most powerful 14 inch laptop. AMD 5900HS octa core processor provides powerful performance that can beats many larger laptops; RTX 3060 gpu can bests all other 14 inch laptops. It is one of the best selection if you value both performance and portability. The RTX 3060 gpu inside this laptop can reach 75~80 watts while playing games. This can provides a great performance that is similar with a RTX 2070 Super Max-Q.

The machine runs very warm. So warm, you can't touch the keyboard when you're running high-intensity games like Elden Ring, or Crucible in Destiny 2. It preforms well, but the amount of heat it is throwing is concerning. It is very normal for this thing to run close to 90 Degrees Celsius, even when I'm not pushing the graphics settings to what they can maximize at. I believe its cooling problems may arise from it being so small; also the design of the vents: The side vents are well-placed, but the rear vents are blocked by the monitor when you open it up. It's difficult to explain (so I recommend taking a look at the photos to see what I mean), but how the monitor opens, tucks the base of the monitor underneath the vents, which restricts the airflow. I've had far better Laptop cases than this one in regards to functionality, and this one just doesn't help its ventilation problems. The hardware is great - it just doesn't have a good home in this laptop case.

      Dear Autumn,

We're sorry to hear about the overheating issues you're having with this model. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up. We would recommend that you check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed. Also, we would recommend that you attempt the steps in the FAQ below.

Had this laptop for 3 years now, I believe. It's a great gaming laptop! I can play older games, VR games and games of the current generation with minimal problems! It can even run programs such as Houdini without crashing...most of the time! It's such a beautiful, strong and small laptop. It has some iridescent reflection on the outer shell and can fit in most backpacks. It's a beautiful white when it's not being majestic from any rays of light. It's also very easy to clean. Stuff comes off and doesn't stick inside the keys of the laptop. Other models of this can actually have animations on the external shell! Pretty cool! It's very portable, which is necessary for me since I move a lot with work and personal study. The audio is great! It can get very low and extremely loud, so use the volume as you wish! The amount of noise pollution from the fan isn't too bad. While it can get loud, there is a built-in program called "armory crate" to customize your laptop's functions for certain moments (high performance when playing a game, battery saver for other instances, etc.) My problem lies within three issues: Nickel frame and Keyboard malfunction. I actually found out I had a nickel allergy because of the laptop. It makes my fingers swell up with a pins and needles sensation. It can get painful, so I usually wear gloves to use the mouse (until I get a skin for it) and keyboard... The keyboard...it actually disconnected from the laptop internally. So no backlighting, no typing... initially, I thought it was my keyboard driver giving me a hard time, until I found out other owners of this laptop have had the same issue. I've been using an external keyboard until I find someone to repair it. While I don't mind not using it until I find a skin for my allergies, the other keyboard takes up a lot of space on my desk with my drawing tablet. It's definitely a hurdle when using certain programs or general ease of access. Otherwise, I would have to rate this a 9/10. Despite the issues I PERSONALLY have with my laptop, it's a solid gaming laptop with all the necessary stuff you need for a general laptop and beyond that for a gaming laptop. While it's not a Gamer Desktop, it'll do great!

    Awesome Gaming Laptop From ASUS

This laptop is small but mighty. It comes with a 1920x1080 FHD resolution and is better than any gaming laptop I have owned. It is small in size but packs a punch. There are 2 USB C ports, 2 USB A ports, an HDMI port and an audio port. There are dedicated volume controls, which is a great feature. I never liked having to hit Fn and then another button at the same time to change the volume. This laptop is very lightweight. I can easily hold it in one hand and type with the other if I don’t have a flat surface. Even though it is lightweight it is well made and sturdy. Love that this has a 1TB SSD hard drive. It starts instantly and when loading a program it is faster than non SSD hard drives. I am not a very patient person and this is a real bonus! It leaves you with plenty of room for gaming. It doesn’t come with a camera or an Ethernet port, but I have no need for them anyway. The graphic card is awesome! I can run my games at full graphics and there is absolutely no lag. The computer does not seem to be overworked from running the games I have. If you want to play games with a bigger screen at home, you can easily plug your laptop into a monitor or TV with a HDMI cable. Haven’t tried that, but seems like it wouldn’t make that much of a difference. Features: One feature that I I think is excellent for security is that there is a fingerprint reader (the power button). I feel this is great to be able to get into your computer faster, instead of putting in your pin or password. The backlight keyboard is another feature that I enjoy. While being in a dimly lit room, I can easily see the keyboard and not press the wrong keys. I believe this gaming laptop plays most all the top games out there. I have been playing older games on it because most of the games I have are more old school because of the gaming laptop I have been using. What an upgrade this is! I am looking forward to getting some of the top games because now I can be sure I won’t have a problem with them. It may get a little hot at times like my old laptop, but I have a mesh stand if I feel the need for it. I would recommend this if you want to update and get in the games you have been dying to play but couldn’t with your old laptop.
