Bought this on sale and as a second hand product, the machine is a work of art - love it. Can utilize the raedon virtual resolution to make the screen 3400 x 1600 which equate to about 4k. Battery drainage is good if setting is object to minimize power consumption, could possibility get you 4 hr with good brightness and 6 hours with low brightness and battery saver. Theres a slot for DDR 5 ram supplement with default 16 gb soldered. A single 64 GB ddr5 for 400+ would make this laptop zoom. Heat sync is good as long as your CPU and GPU fan works. The design is sleek and protable, not at all hunky for a laptop. Bought this laptop to hone my prowess in coding - could handle multiple IDE cumming and computation at once - thought I would say 16 GB for this beast is a bit of a slack but hey serves me well.

The Perfect Portable Gaming Laptop

I've had a couple of different ASUS ROG gaming laptops over the years, including the larger Zephyrus G15 and M15 models. They are both excellent machines but certainly add some heft to my backpack while traveling. This G14 model strikes an even better balance of performance and portability compared to other ASUS ROG laptops and has some excellent additions like a Windows Hello-enabled webcam, Wi-Fi 6E, and a beautiful 16:10 display.
=== DESIGN ===
- This G14 model is the "Moonlight White" color. Having never owned a white laptop, I was skeptical. But this color is beautiful. It does not show any fingerprints and the holographic microdots on the laptop's lid really add that extra “pop.” This particular model does not have the “Anime Matrix” LEDs on the laptop lid – you will have to spring for the more expensive configuration for that feature.
- The laptop measures 12.2" wide by 9" deep, and less than 1” thick. At just over 3.5 pounds, it is very portable and should fit in any backpack or travel bag.
- There are a decent amount of ports available, though more would be nice. On the left, there's the power port, an HDMI port, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm jack. On the right, there's two USB Type-A ports, a microSD card slot, and another USB-C port. Note that there is no Ethernet port on this laptop.
- Like other ASUS gaming laptops, the power port on the left side is oddly placed right in the center of the laptop rather than towards the back. As a result, the power cord runs along the length of the laptop, which looks awkward and sometimes covers the left exhaust vent. I hope ASUS rethinks this power port placement in future laptops.
- The power brick is surprisingly compact for a gaming laptop. You will need it for the laptop to run at full power, but the machine can also be charged via USB-C with any 100w adapter. Note that the CPU and GPU will not run at full speed when the laptop is being powered via USB-C.
- Build quality is excellent, with minimal flex and no squeaking. Most of the machine is a soft-touch plastic, which is great for keeping weight to a minimum. The hinge is very smooth and can be lifted with one hand. As you raise the display, the base of the laptop begins to raise at a slight angle to improve airflow. I haven't noticed any significant wobble with the display raised.
- Overall: The Moonlight White color is beautiful, and I appreciate the understated yet modern design of the laptop. The power port positioning is an awkward choice, and I wish the laptop had an Ethernet port. Build quality seems top-notch and I'm confident it will last a long time.
=== DISPLAY, KEYBOARD, TRACKPAD, & AUDIO ===
- ASUS has packed a beautiful 16:10, 2560x1600 display into this compact laptop. It’s rare to see a 16:10 aspect ratio in such a small laptop. The extra vertical space of the 16:10 ratio is invaluable when you use the laptop for web browsing or productivity. Pixel density is excellent, and colors are rich and vibrant. There is a small amount of light bleed along the top edge of my display, but it's hardly noticeable except on black loading screens. The 120Hz refresh rate means that games look incredibly smooth with no tearing or choppiness.
- The keyboard is good, but a bit more cramped than larger ASUS ROG laptops. It has a nice amount of travel and it takes a satisfying amount of force to depress the keys. It has just the right amount of "clickiness" that you would expect in a gaming keyboard. The keyboard is RGB-lit, though the entire keyboard can only display one color at a time (there are not multiple RGB zones to control). The RGB brightness is okay at best. I’ve noticed that the letters on the key caps often appear dim against the white color of the laptop.
- The trackpad is excellent. I’ve said it before – ASUS makes the best trackpads of any Windows laptop manufacturer. It is very large, soft, and easy to click. It works perfectly with gestures and is extremely responsive. I do wish the entire surface was clickable — the top portion is stationary and does not click; only the bottom half of the trackpad clicks.
- The speakers are pretty good for a laptop of this size, but don’t expect anything earth-shattering. Vocals are clear and crisp, but there is some distortion at higher volumes.
- Overall: ASUS packed a stellar display into a perfectly sized laptop. The keyboard and trackpad are excellent, though I wish the keyboard LEDs were brighter. Speakers are good but not outstanding.
=== PERFORMANCE, COOLING, & UPGRADES ===
- The RX 6800S in this machine is pretty amazing. Compared to my older ASUS laptop with an RTX 3060, the 6800S offers better performance with cooler temperatures and more VRAM. It is only a small step down from the RTX 3070 laptop GPU.
- Time Spy benchmark: 9266 (graphics score 9144). Cyberpunk 2077 (Ray Tracing Medium, DLSS Balanced): 70 fps average. Guardians of the Galaxy (High preset, Ray Tracing High): 98 fps. Spider-Man: Remastered (medium preset): 105 fps average. These numbers show that the G14 can handle very demanding games even with higher settings. You can squeeze out even more performance if you’re willing to lower the resolution at which games are rendered, but the 6800S is perfectly capable of keeping up with the 120Hz, 2560x1600 display in this machine.
- The 6900HS is also great, but it’s not quite as fast as some modern Intel laptop CPUs. The TimeSpy CPU score is 10,029, which is quite a bit lower than the score for an Intel i7-12700H (TimeSpy CPU score of 11,800).
- Gaming performance will depend greatly on the settings you choose in the ASUS Armoury Crate program. There are presets for Silent, Performance, and Turbo. "Turbo" gives you the best performance and cooling, but the fans get obnoxiously loud if you're not wearing headphones. "Performance" is a good middle-ground with less fan noise, but you will sacrifice a bit of CPU and GPU power (the clock speeds of the GPU will not boost as high as quickly). You will have to spend some time in this program to tweak the performance settings to your liking. To get the maximum amount of performance out of the GPU, be sure to set the GPU Mode to “Ultimate” in Armoury Crate.
- There’s no getting around it: this laptop gets hot to the touch during gaming, and that definitely results in some very loud fans during gameplay. You will most certainly want to wear headphones while gaming unless you have a high tolerance for fan noise. On Turbo mode, most games push the GPU temp to about 80°C, and the CPU to roughly 75°C. Luckily, the fans are hardly noticeable when using the laptop for routine work and web browsing.
- Battery life is pretty good, but it’s going to be LARGELY dependent on how you use this laptop. I was able to get about 7 hours of use with standard web browsing and day-to-day tasks (screen at half brightness). Obviously, gaming is going to result in much shorter battery life.
- The included 1 TB SSD offers plenty of space, but note that there are no extra M.2 slots. So if you want more storage, you will need to replace the included 1 TB drive.
- 8GB of DDR5 RAM are soldered onto the board, with another 8GB SODIMM in the memory slot. The RAM clock speed is 4800MHz. According to ASUS, you can swap out the 8GB stick for a 16GB stick, allowing for a maximum of 24GB of RAM.
- Overall: Performance is great and the RX 6800S pairs perfectly with the 14” display. The laptop gets fairly hot and loud, but that is the tradeoff you have to accept with a laptop with this much power in a compact size.
=== SOFTWARE AND OTHER THOUGHTS ===
- There is a 720p webcam on the bezel above the screen. The camera quality is mediocre, but it is Windows Hello capable so you can log into Windows with just your face. This is a big improvement compared to the unreliable fingerprint readers in older ASUS models.
- The included Wi-Fi card is capable of Wi-Fi 6E, allowing the G14 to connect to very fast 6 GHz networks. I've run several speed tests while connected to the 6Ghz band of my ASUS GT-AXE6000. Amazingly, I can nearly max out my Internet speed of 940mbps (download and upload) with the Wi-Fi 6E card in this laptop. I'm very glad ASUS decided to future-proof the G14 by including Wi-Fi 6E capability.
- The ASUS Armoury Crate and MyASUS apps are essential for tweaking the performance and cooling of this laptop and performing updates, but both apps are very clunky and confusing to use. Luckily there is a button above the keyboard that you can use to switch between your cooling/performance presets.
=== OVERALL ===
ASUS simply makes the best gaming laptops on the market, and the 2022 G14 is no exception. This configuration does not include the fancy Anime Matrix LEDs on the laptop lid, but it is significantly less expensive with basically the same tech specs as the higher tier model (only difference is an extra 16GB of RAM). If you’re a fan of AMD hardware, you will love the pairing of the RX 6800S and Ryzen 6900HS, which offer incredible performance in this portable machine. Even NVIDIA and Intel fans will find this combo very tempting. If a 15” or 16” gaming laptop is too large for your needs, then the G14 could be the perfect option – you sacrifice almost nothing and still get excellent gaming performance. Just be aware of the warm temperatures and loud fans. Highly recommended!

Asus and Best Buy do not pull defective designs from stock, because this issue is reported on a growing number of social websites. Asus in particular must do an extremely poor job of testing. I’ll not be buying any Asus products again anytime soon, and I’ll likely avoid any more computer purchases from Best Buy because they do not protect consumers from costly junk.

This laptop rock can play any game on 1600P or 1200P with FX fedality and this think pushes FPS like nothing.
Super portable for me since I travel a lot which is a faint +.
Heating well it’s hot lol so have a cooling mat for it cause it does get warm but what do you expect I. Something so powerful but so small.
The CPU is almost as powerful as my desktop 3700x which amazes me.
Only down side is one of the 8 gig of ram is soldered so upgrading is limited.

I'm a long time Macbook Pro user (since gen 1). I had Apple everything. But work and my MSc program required me to use Windows, Excel and other programs that Mac did not offer. I love the G14 and I think it's worth it to get over the 6700s. You future proof yourself, while also getting really good quality gaming experience in this little beast.
Pros: Fast, smooth, great gaming experience, lightweight, ease of portability, keyboard is great, easy to upgrade RAM and WiFi card.
Cons: it gets hot as heck, Windows, user-experience of Microsoft is still mind-boggling, Mediatek WiFi card needs upgrading, soldered RAM is 8gb (stupid).
Recommendations for new buyers: update everything. Update from settings, update from Armory Crate, update from MyAsus. Buy a AX210 Intel WiFi card and replace the Mediatek. Upgrade RAM to 32 GB to future proof it.

One Major Flaw, But Overall Great Laptop

TLDR: Low noise, great build quality, great performance, but stock SSD needs replacement
After owning it for a bit over 3 weeks I am absolutely in love with this laptop. It has a great display, weird resolution (a bit higher than 1440p) but great picture quality and color. Doesn't get so hot to the point where it hurts to touch the keyboard. The Radeon 6800s still performs great though and can get you 75 fps at native resolution on High settings in most modern titles. The keyboard feels great to type on and the backlighting looks amazing. The backlight isn't super bright and flashy but is still noticeable. It's more like an accent color.
The biggest concern most users should be aware of are RAM, SSD, and wireless adapter. This laptop has 8GB of ram soldered to the motherboard(cannot be removed). If you want to retain dual-channel memory you have to stay at 16GB (which is more than enough for playing games). The biggest concern so far is the SSD. The stock SSD has troubles waking up from sleep, hibernation, and shutdown. I'm not the only one to experience this issue, there are plenty of reddits talking about this issue. After turning off the laptop refuses to give a display unless it is restarted a few times. I solved this issue by replacing the SSD (there is only one M.2 slot). The stock SSD seems like it's high quality, it's made by Micron and has a good controller. Anyway, I bought a cheap 2TB TeamGroup SSD (PCIe Gen 3) and came upon the issue of the wireless adapter. For some reason, the wireless adapter didn't work at all (probably a driver issue). If you do decide to swap out the SSD, have an ethernet connection prepared or use your phone and a USB cable to share connection because you will NOT be able to connect to wifi during setup. After you finish setting up windows just go to ASUS's website to download the drivers for the wireless adapter again.
After replacing the SSD I have had no problems with the laptop. You can get good battery life from it by disabling the GPU and using the graphics attached to the Ryzen 9 CPU (APU technically). I don't because I just use my laptop for playing games. I have no regrets about purchasing this laptop, just wish it shipped with a different SSD.

Haven’t got to use it too much, I just got it. So far so good. It’s light. Looks nice. Unique design. Nice keyboard & mouse area is big which is great. It seems to run photoshop well so far. I haven’t tried other programs yet. So far I am very happy. This is the coolest laptop I have ever owned so far. I had an asus before like 10 years ago & I was very satisfied. So, I am sure I will be even more satisfied with this laptop. I watched some YouTube videos about this laptop. One con is it only has one hdmi port, & just 2 USB ports, but that’s an easy fix if you have adapters. There is no Ethernet port unfortunately but I have an adapter for that. I have only had it for a few weeks so it is still early to give a good review. I hope it can last me 5+ years with good performance like the previous Asus I owned.

I got a mint open box still in the plastic for 830. Literally can't beat that price. That said I don't think this computer is worth it's normal price of 1900. It's an amazing portable and stylish machine. It does run hot but temps are all within range and you can always throttle the chips. I had one before and what ever you do don't use an external monitor with the laptop closed. The heat that escapes from the keys will damage your screen. This is the only reason I made this a 4 star.

Problems....

This is the second computer I've gotten from ASUS-best buy. The first one had a lot of glitches and I had to get it replaced. This one, I've had since April.
One of the USB ports doesn't work (which, as a college student, if the other one stops working, I'm screwed...), and there are a couple of updates that say they need to be installed, and fail whenever I try to install them, but my update history says that they're already installed...
The most concerning problem I have right now is that my brightness no longer works. My brightness keys don't work, there is no option to adjust brightness in the display settings, the night light doesn't work, and there is no brightness slider.
To fix these issues, I've tried running my laptop in safe mode, but the problems are still there, all of which indicate a hardware issue.
I really do love this computer, the performance and battery life are great, I love the weight and portability, and I enjoy using this laptop. However, it does get a little hot as well during gaming... had to buy a cooling fan. However, for how much I paid for this computer, I shouldn't be having issues at all, especially after only 5 months of use.
If I hadn't run into these issues, I may have recommended this computer.

Pros: Good battery life, quiet fan speed, fast speed with loading apps and games, great gaming performance, crisp and bright display. Will receive USB 4 support via driver which means egpu support.
Cons: Thermals get pretty high but nothing to serious, 16:10 ratio is good for content creation but in most games you will get black bars on the top and bottom of screen which can make the laptop feel smaller than 14 inch. Another con would be the Wi-Fi card being pretty bad but it’s fine if you use 5G wifi. Plus you can replace it easily.
Summary: Great machine for university students, gamers, and content creators.

I was looking for a 14" notebook for business travel. Requirements were relatively light weight; 16x10 hi-res, bright screen; dedicated video card sufficient to run a few games on high and relatively long battery life. After purchasing and returning 2 Lenovo business laptops I thought the laptop I wanted was going to be too much $$. This laptop ticked and delivered on all those boxes. Very impressed with boot up, gaming and general processor speed. Love this laptop.

Great laptop for gaming and everyday use! Looks amazing and is not heavy! So far I have been able to run every game that I have played on it. Battery life is great for every day use. Of course it will drain way faster when gaming but that's with every laptop out there. When gaming, fans can be a little loud and laptop could get a bit hot but those are also things that you should expect form a gaming laptop. overall have had a great experince with it and I highly recommend it to anyone.

An excellent 14" Gaming Beast

I used to be all about 15"+ screens, but this 14" Zephyrus running everything at 2560x1600 is just soooo nice. Even running a Radeon vs a Nvidia posed no issues at all for me when gaming. Asus made such a sweet portable gaming rig aesthetically and chose some great parts under the hood.
In the box comes the laptop it self (opening the box raises it from its platform for easy access) and the 240w power brick. The Zephyrus is solidly built and feels like a premium laptop. Love the white color /w the rgb lighting and it is not a fingerprint magnet.
The TKL keyboard sits my large hands just find and the buttons feel very responsive with the nice click. While putting the weight of both my palms on it, I have not noticed or seen any significant bending that other laptops are prone to. The touchpad is nice, large and responsive when doing casual content for consumption and obviously not for gaming. No complaints from me there.
The performance was excellent in my gaming trials. Though admittingly I game on top tier PCs using team green's card and DLSS, the Radeon on this laptop is nothing to scoff at. The beautiful and perfect (IMO) resolution of 2560x1600 on a laptop is great for games. 120hz is no issue for most of my Steam Library playing on High settings, but upping to Ultra on other newer AAA titles will bring it down. Subnautica had no problems on high keeping 100+ fps for me, Tomb Raider varied 80-90fps and even Cyber Punk was a solid and perfectly playable 60+.
Using Timespy, my score was a respectable 8873.
Speakers on this laptop are acceptable at best for its size. This shouldn't really be an issue as most are probably wearing headsets. They will get the job done, but don't expect a theater surround experience. As a shocker, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack as part of the IO for people not using USB.
Asus made another homerun laptop for gamers this year. High praise from me as AMD is catching up rather quickly in the mobile gaming category to give green some great competition. Don't overlook this Zephyrus. It is a beast for games, but also for other everyday applications.

Regarding technology, in general, my personal history would show I’ve typically gone larger in the size arena because it usually equated to "better" in my book. Larger screen size, more cameras, beefier peripherals and just more usable space in general. Regarding laptops, a decade ago I was gaming on 17.3” laptops eventually migrating to 15.6” laptops for the past several ones I've owned. I have gone through several different laptop manufacturers a wide variety of internal hardware specs and, for a variety of reasons, continue to return to ASUS as my go-to because of their overall performance, durability, less pre-installed bloatware as well as many other aspects. I was excited to give the new ASUS G14 ROG Zephyrus a shot as my first 14” laptop to see if the durability and performance would hold up compared to the larger laptops I have owned in the past.
This 14” ASUS ROG Zephyrus WQXGA is by far the prettiest laptop I have ever owned with its matte white finish, or Moonlight White as they call it, injected with some sparkly glitter when the light hits it just right and RGB lighting. The white really makes it stand out compared to other laptops, does not show fingerprints, dust or dirt like black laptops and has a very clean appearance overall. The keypad feels very comfortable with good spacing considering the smaller chassis. The touchpad appears oversized in comparison to the chassis and I was surprised it didn’t get in the way of me typing. I love the feel of this touchpad more than any other one I have used in the past as it has a smooth buffed glass feel where your fingers can glide smoothly across it. There are two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port and a micro-SD port on the right side of the chassis and a HDMI port, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, auxiliary audio out and charging port on the left side of the chassis. There are no ports on the front or back of the chassis. The ultra-bright 14” ROG Nebula Display with 2560x1600 resolution 120 Hz screen, although smaller than what I’ve been used to, is crystal clear and absolutely stunning. After playing several AAA title games, I have not noticed any screen drag and the picture, color and contrast are amazing.
Under the hood, this ROG Zephyrus is rocking some of the latest high-end PC specs including the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor with 8 cores and 16 threads for uber fast multitasking, an AMD Radeon RX 6800S 8GB GDDR6 graphics card, 16GB of dual-channel 4800MHz DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD. The benchmarks I ran on the laptop came out a little above average compared to gaming PCs however I wasn’t didn’t overclock anything to run at peak performance and it ran all the AAA games I play great with no issues. There was barely any fan noise pumping all that heat out of the chassis which was a welcome surprise compared to previous models. The four-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos surprised me with great sound quality.
All of this combines beautifully to provide an amazing laptop and gaming experience and, somehow, it’s all packed into a smaller laptop that weighs less than four pounds. The size and weight were definitely some of my favorite features after working and gaming on laptops over the years weighing almost twice that size. I definitely don’t regret going smaller, for once, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this model to anyone in the market for an amazing gaming laptop.

This laptop is the best of all worlds. I use it for gaming and work and it's specs complement both use cases. Here are some good reasons to buy this laptop:
1. 9hr+ battery life on browsing/reading.
2. The screen is bright and matte so doesn't reflect much.
3. The 1600p res and 16:10 aspect ratio makes it amazing for productivity tasks.
4. For it's capabilities, it doesnt weigh as much (3.78lb). I couldn't find another laptop that weighs less than this and has similar performance.
5. Upgradable SSD and RAM. The competition provides soldered memory only.
6. The trackpad is big.
7. 6900HS and 6800S is an amazing CPU/GPU combo.
Somethings to be vary of:
1. The webcam is only 720p. It gets the job done but requires decent lighting conditions.
2. The charging brick is heavy, though you can charge with USB C.
3. HDMI 2.1 is missing so you will need to use the USB C ports for 4K 120 output.
4. USB 4 is still in beta.

I recently got both the 6800S and the 6700S models and unless you are an AVID hardcore gamer and this is going to be your primary machine for that, you can go with the 6700S model, save some money and be extremely satisfied. I think this is the perfect gaming laptop as it gives 8+ hours of battery on casual use, has a great trackpad, AMAZING gaming performance and portability. The only reason this doesn't get a 5/5 is because I am not a huge fan of magnesium alloy + plastic on any laptop and I like more of a premium feel. If that doesn't bother you, this years g14's should be an easy buy!

I’ve been a gamer for a long time and as life has gotten busier I still make some time for a little recreation.
I spent a long week reviewing all the laptops in the 14” category and this one seemed to be the apparent clear cut choice winner.
When looking at the specs, sound, and build quality you wonder what you’ll get out of a laptop like this. Well you’re gonna get everything as advertised and it’s extremely user friendly.
The size is perfect. I used to go for the big 17” dimensions but 14 is really just the right size. You will love how compact and light it is. The charge is small and is not a massive brick like other brands.
I also do photo editing and the screen quality and color is perfect. I’m really excited to see how this laptop will run the next couple of years. I would suggest buying a Totaltech membership to protect your investment in general.
Enjoy!

This laptop has a great form factor, solid specs for the price, isn't too heavy, and does everything I wanted it to. The only downsides are that it does run a little hot while gaming, and more intensive games will drain the battery faster than it can recharge; however, said drain is minimal, and I haven't run into any actual issues with respect to it.
I bought the laptop on sale for $1299, which I think is a very fair price. The sticker price of $1900 is a bit steep, so I'd encourage you to wait for a sale.

Amazing battery life, amazing screen, amazingly quiet (in eco mode), and amazingly thin. All around, amazing for the price! It looks sexy too! I got it new at $1200, so I recommend not buying over this price point.

Well what did I expect from Asus ? I expect top quality and tons of features for your money. Did they do this and the answer is hell yes! 16gb ram and 1TB plus AMD processor and Graphics card . All top notch . Plus you add all the goodies from ASUS and it's amazing. Now they added glideX and link to my Asus 2 nice apps for your phone . You can pretty use the computer to receive calls and make them send and receive text. Plus send files wireless laptop and phone and vice versa . I loved it super easy to use.
My Asus on the laptop covers your updates and diagnostics again super easy to use . Armoury Crate definitely nice to adjust fan speed and other settings to help get the best performance it's for new users and advanced users as well. This laptop has the power to handle almost any game and program . I ran all my games on high settings for hours and had no issues . Used office suite and had no issues there. No lag, no freezing or hiccups of any kind. This laptop is definitely worth it's price and hype great screen too 120hz and this will definitely multitask with no issues.
