Pretty cool laptop, mine just happens to have terrible backlight bleed in the worst places. And they're is a a slight hissing sound when the fans get going. Also, the speakers seem like a step down from last year's g14. Would have hoped for better quality for this price. Going to have to swap mine out for another.

Well hello PC gaming!! As a console gamer more specific and Xbox gamer. I really wanted to dive into the Xbox PC ecosystem and try things like age of empires, company of heroes, flight simulator???????? 30 frames per second on low to medium) and then eventually move on to steam and check some great games out.. this is my first gaming PC and so far everything is running and just looks incredible... Very small, I take it to work with me and the battery can last a good 8 to 10 hours with web searching and stuff like that.. for gaming I got a good 3-4 hours. All I do is Cap the screen at 60 at 1080p. And don't have the brightness all the way up and you can game for many hours on this bad boy. The only thing I can think of that would be a con is there is a lot of bleeding on the top right of the laptop. You won't see it or notice it during gameplay or during any type of task.. it's only noticeable on a black screen. So it's kind of in the air if it's a negative or not. All in all for $1,700 I'm getting a beautiful crisp 15-in screen 1440p screen that's bright and vibrant, with top of the line specs for gaming.. this will last you for years to come and for me personally I bought this to play Halo infinite when I'm not at home LOL.

I'm very impressed. This is my first gaming laptop and I haven't had a gaming PC since the Vista days, I'm a console gamer. Since I have gamepass ultimate and my pervious laptop is over 10 years old I figured why not get something, so I bought this laptop and I am pretty impressed. Keyboard is a little tight so that's taking some time getting use to. The keyboard also flashes when the laptop is in sleep mode. I wasn't expecting much with this laptop but I ran some benchmarks with Gears 5 maxed out, ultra and insane settings and it averaged 71fps. With recommended settings, ultra settings with some high settings it averaged 141fps. I know they will be releasing the same laptop with a 3080, but it'll be another $800ish or so more, would that really be worth the extra money? I think this laptop is the sweet spot for performance per buck.

Best laptop of 2021 hands down. Price to performance it cannot be beat, the display and speakers are really incredible and impress me every time I use it. The CPU/GPU combo is great and in this light weight chassis, with the 8+ hour battery life, it’s a perfect and discrete work/game machine.

Purchased the laptop in March 2021, works very well playing games. Had to adjust the base level sound because the sound was too low. Otherwise and nice powerful laptop with a lot of features. Good sound, 2K screen, nice physical interface, ability to upgrade storage space in the future, very strong battery life. All around a good purchase.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 seems to be the sweet spot for cutting edge graphics and new AMD powerhouse processors in a very trim attractive laptop form factor. After doing all the required updates from Windows. You need to take a little more time to find and run all the ASUS software. I noticed out of the box I had an audio issue with speakers sounding as though they were bottoming out. After finding the Dolby Atmos Sound App. The problem seems to be rectified by enabling the sound fields. "Dynamic" sounds the best for all around mixed use. You will also want to update items in MyAsus and the settings in Armoury Crate are going to need your attention to dial in how you want your system to look and run, especially when gaming. My initial use has found far more to love than grumble about. + Battery life while not gaming is fantastic(8+ hours so far). + Beautiful, very fast screen that has accurate less washed out colors using a non-reflective matte finish. + RGB keyboard with infinite colors and backlighting that stays on till you tell it to time out. + Faster charging than any of my previous laptops. + Far thinner and lighter than I expected considering the amount of performance contained within. + Speakers are better than most. Headphones still better. + While gaming, the fan noise can be fairly loud. Wife will make you leave the room! And while it has plenty of ports for most users needs. I am a bit disappointed they are so far forward. Anything connected (mainly left side ports) will have your wrists resting on them. I also would have liked to see the hidden numberpad that many other ASUS laptops have that's in the touchpad, be implemented here too. Many games that use number keypad keys, will need re-mapping or external keyboard. I think if your budget gets you into the ROG Zephyrus G15 range. It will be hard to beat the quality and performance this laptop has. And while it does have the gamer bits to play top tier games. The RGB keyboard light show to show off your wild side. It is very much ready for the office with its slim sleek styling, and a full day of performance for the day to day. Good job ASUS!

Bottom Line: The ASUS ROG Zephyrus delivers amazing 1440p gaming in a sleek, thin and light portable design. Pros: Great gaming performance; excellent color accuracy and great display for gaming; sleek design; good keyboard and trackpad Cons: keyboard gets hot during gaming; no webcam Review (Performance): Cutting right to the chase, the R9 and RTX 3070 deliver on gaming performance. My machine clocks in around 8950 in 3DMark, which puts it in on-par with their 2020 desktop gaming build (Ryzen 7 3700x/Radeon RX 5700 XT). To test real world performance, I played several hours of Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2 at 1440p, 165Hz, on High/Max settings. In DMC5, gameplay was pretty consistent at 120-130 fps. Even with a lot more dynamic lighting in RE2, gameplay rarely dropped under 90 fps and played mostly in the 100-110 fps range. Pushing this much performance naturally produces a lot of heat, and I recorded max CPU and GPU temps around 83C (181F) and 73C (163F) respectively. The fans spinning at full speed are 44 dBA, definitely noticeable but not overwhelming during gaming. It is important to note that a good amount of heat dissipates up through the keyboard, and internal chassis readings were at 45.5C (114F). Indeed, I used an infrared thermometer held about an inch above the keyboard, which read 43C (109.7F). Hence, during extreme load, the plastic keys will feel very warm to the touch and the metal frame is too hot to touch for an extended period of time. By default, playing on battery locks games to 30 fps, where I recorded CPU and GPU temps around 60C (140F). This kept the machine cool enough where the min fan speeds (~20 dBA) were able to keep the laptop cool enough most of the time. Battery lasted just about 2 hours, with a mix of DMC5, RE2, and 4v4 in Warcraft III: Reforged. (Design): Overall, I really like the design. The laptop is thin and light, and the body is styled more like a pro-machine than a gaming one. Yet, the rear exhaust grill and contrast between the silver and gray on the magnesium-aluminum lid gives it just enough flair to stand out. As such, I could easily see this machine being used at work or school just as much as gaming. The laptop offers a good number of ports. A USB-A, micro-SD card reader, and Kensington lock slot are on the right side; on the left, you will find a round DC charging port (to connect the 200w charger), HDMI 2.0b, Ethernet, USB-A, USB-C 3.2 ports (x2), and a 3.5mm headphone/mic combo. My only small complaint here is that the ports on the left are all pulled toward the front of the machine (to accommodates the cooling system), which leads to an atypical mid-machine placement of the charging connector. (Hardware): One of the machine’s selling points is the 1440p 165Hz 15.6” screen, which boasts 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Indeed, the color accuracy is fantastic, especially comparing a pro-photo on screen to print. Gaming at 1440p at 165Hz looks super sharp and buttery smooth. I should note here that it’s not an HDR screen and, at least to my eyes, the backlighting seems to washout the screen just a bit especially if the brightness is turned all the way up. For a laptop, the speaker system delivers good audio. Perhaps unsurprisingly, balance favors the midrange, and those and mid-highs come across well. Discerning listeners will notice the loss of clarity in the highs, and, of course, laptop speakers can only do so much when it comes to lows/bass performance. The stereo speakers are positioned well and provide good separation of left and right audio if you’re sitting at a normal distance from the laptop. Last, I do find that the speakers provide a decent immersive audio experience when gaming, as their shortcomings are less noticeable than when listening to music. Onto the touch points, the power button has a built in fingerprint reader, which is extremely fast — if it actually manages to read my fingerprint. I’m probably 50-50, where I can have a successful read, walk away for five minutes, come back and have it not recognize my fingerprint. The keyboard, which has one zone of RGB backlighting, offers a solid and satisfying typing experience, although as a matter of personal preference I find the keycaps to be on the softer side. The large trackpad feels good to use, and you can get a satisfying click from most locations. One issue, though, is that due to its size, your palms rest on it when you’re typing, which can drag the cursor around. Conspicuously missing is a webcam, which is the one factor that prevent this machine from being an all-in-one that can be used for work and play, given video conferencing has become so common.

This is a great laptop. Asus ROG series laptops are very good and this is no exception. It has Ryzen 9 5900HS, 8c/16t, comes with a toshiba 1tb m.2 with a extra m.2 slot open. 16gb of ram (8gb on board, 8gb SoDimm, upgradable to 40gb total, which I did with a 32gb SoDimm.) Note about the m.2 slots they are only Gen3 slots, i put a Samsung 980 pro Gen 4 drive but only got gen3 speeds and HWINFO shows them to only be Gen3. Upgrading the ram or M.2 does require removing the entire backcover which has many screws, 3 of which are under small rubber covers. Long as you have an iFixit kit it isn't any issue. *The bottom right, when looking at it, is a captive screw that actually lifts the cover when unscrewed making it quite easy to pop open. Armory crate software controls the boost and fans the overall control here is limited and there isn't any control in the bios. Make sure to update the armory crate software as there is a bug in older versions that causes the fans to run at 100% all the time even when not under load. Updating that software and full restart solves this issue. To get maximum performance you do need to be plugged into the included brick. It runs in a lower turbo/boost state when on battery or if you are using a USB-C 100W power. In regards to the USB-C plugs either one will support the 100W PD charging as long as you have an appropriate charger, strongly recommend using an ANKER or other reputable brand as many off brands can cause problems due to bad workmanship. Don't cheap out on a 100w Charger. Performance in gaming was fantastic the screen looks amazing and is definitely one of the strong points of this laptop. At normal Retail price at the time of this posting of $1849, I don't feel that is a good deal. I got it on flash deal for $1549 which I felt was a much more appropriate price. Battery life was ok, it isn't going to be great but you are not buying this laptop for battery life. Strengths are the upgradeable ram and 2nd m.2 slot. Along with excellent hardware performance in this range. Cons: Minimal control of overclocking and warm keyboard w/o having the fans at least on low. They are very quiet on low settings and it makes a significant difference in temperature of the keyboard. Overall 5/5

A monster of a laptop in terms of raw performance and power but I will recommend that if you do not like messing with drivers to stay away from this laptop as I've had many driver issues due to Radeon Graphics and Nvidia graphics not coexisting very nicely. I've had this laptop for a year now and my only complaints are the thermals which can sometimes reach 90°C and the drivers but I can easily forgive it since the performance is just unmatched for the price point.

I love this machine! Everything seemed fine and I quickly tested warzone to see this pushing upper 90s on almost maxed 1440p settings and is super snappy! Only reason why I gave it a 4 star was because I just found 2 dead pixels on the screen and it hasn’t even been 24 hours since I’ve had it. Besides that CPU temps have been at 80s for Celsius and GPU staying at 70s for Celsius under demanding loads

On paper this is an excellent laptop, and in practice it's the mobile workstation I've always dreamed of. Powerful, nice display, and the battery lasts almost all day. However, the various QC issues and design concerns documented online (some present since the g14) make me hesitant to openly recommend it.

I've seen so many posts online talking about all the issues the G15 has and i find it extremely unacceptable how poor the quality control is, it truly is a lottery with these. Unfortunately, I lost the lottery with this unit and got one with bad speakers and terrible light bleeding. I just knew it was bad news when I saw the manufacturing date say February. Other than that, the machine was as advertised when it came to performance. Sucks that buying these is a game of chance, so I can't recommend these, at least not yet.

Very good overall so far. A little concerned on battery life. Lots of contradicting bloat-ware. Should just have one program for everything. Major issue is the gamma is set way too high to compensate for low screen brightness. Once the screen is calibrated correctly, it doesn’t get very bright. Best in dark room for media. Gaming good in most indoor lighting. This would be a bad laptop for bright room or outside. Also a play/pause button instead of airplane mode button would have been nice. Who is gaming with this on a plane that often? Weird choice.

This is my first gaming laptop and it hasn't disappointed one bit. The laptop runs zippy fast, and it can handle pretty much any game I throw at it on ultra or high graphics with great frame rates. The only minor gripe I have with my unit is it has coil whine (a high-pitched staticky or electrical sound) when the keyboard backlight is off or set to less than 66% brightness. It's audible if I'm doing quiet work in my apartment, but I otherwise can't hear it when there are other ambient noises in the background or if I'm gaming. If I keep my keyboard backlight on, there is no coil whine. Besides this (very) minor issue, the performance on my G15 has been excellent, and I'm very impressed with this machine.
