    Great Gaming Computer

This computer was picked up for two reasons. 1 - Play games on it. 2 - Run for 8 hours for a Tabletop RPG. It runs well for both. I have not played a current video game on it, but it will likely run that video game. Uses currently: - Games it played - Guacamelee, Octodad, Jet Set Radio, Bastion, Cuphead, Hand of Fate. All ran without issue. -8 Hours run time - Using Discord, music player, and Onenote. No lag between systems, connection with user on Discord worked well. ---- The only flaws I have seen is that there have been freezes in audio. Unsure where this comes from, potential use of too many programs at once. i.e. Youtube, Discord, etc. Another flaw that some do not like, but I prefer is no webcam. (but imo...that's brilliant.)

    Good laptop, bad service

TL;DR: The laptop itself works very well for gaming. The fans make a weird noise, and GeekSquad and Asus have both been incredibly unhelpful on that front. As a gaming computer, this laptop is very nice. It runs most modern games very smoothly, although it runs a little hot (70-80 C - well within reasonable expectations, but keep it off your lap!). I have never had an issue with in-game performance while using this laptop, and it represented an improvement even on my dedicated gaming desktop at the time. My big gripe with this laptop is that the GPU fan, after about 3 or 4 months of ownership and use, started making a strange sound like it was grinding. I was only ever to find one video on the internet of the same sound. My own testing revealed that, when this noise occurs, the GPU fan speed was reduced from around 3600 RPM (estimate) to about half, and then eventually down to 200 RPM. I found that by using the ASUS control panel for the fans, I could manually stop the fans and then turn on either Performance or Turbo mode again and have more or less normal noises. Of course, this does not prevent it from happening again. Sometimes it happens when the laptop is jostled, but it can also happen after leaving the laptop sitting there for a while. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of logic to when this problem occurs. I can only assume this is a fan defect, and that replacement of the part may be the solution. I really wanted to get this serviced either by GeekSquad or by the manufacturer, but I had absolutely no luck doing so. This is a bigger issue for me than the problem with the fans itself. I went to two different Best Buy stores, called GeekSquad from home two times, and was left on hold by Asus (manufacturer) for 3 hours before I gave up trying to get professional help. The issue persists for me, and although it doesn't stop me from using my laptop, it remains an annoyance. I do not feel that I got any value out of purchasing the GeekSquad protection that I did, given that they did not do anything for me. It also leaves a bad taste in my mouth for Asus, whose products I have always had recommended to me in the past.

This is my first Asus, and my first gaming PC. Thought I got a good deal at $300 off. I've been a console (Xbox) gamer my entire life, and have always wanted to step into the realm of PC gaming. I definitely feel like I made a good choice. I don't play many of the "popular" games that are out right now, but what I have thrown at it, it's handled with ease. Anno 2070 - Ultra/60+fps Anno 2205 - Ultra/60+fps Apex Legends - High/60+fps Eve Online - Medium/High/100+fps Cities Skylines - Ultra/60+fps Forza Horizons 4 - Ultra/60+fps No Man's Sky - High/60+fps The Sims 4 - Ultra/60+fps Headset port - When minimizing a game wearing headset, the audio from the game cuts out and doesn't come back without a restart of the game. Same for unplugging a headset with a game running. -No sound comes through the PC speakers without a game restart. Screen - The whites are BRILLIANTLY white, but the blacks are really washed out. I only really notice it on title/intro screens though. You could really tell when I first turned it on with the default background on the desktop. It hasn't bothered me enough for me to look into any of the settings or anything though. I LOVE the Armoury Crate app. But it doesn't recognize games from Xbox Game Pass. I have to manually go in and turn on Turbo mode. Thank god for that dedicated app key! I would definitely recommend a cooling pad to prolong the life of the components inside. Near the top of the computer gets pretty hot during gaming sessions. In conclusion, I'm more than happy with my purchase and would highly recommend.

The performance of this laptop is pretty good for its price(I get over 100fps in COD MF) and the 120hz screen looks really good. The laptop is also very portable and light. However it does get very loud when the fan setting is on performance or turbo which you need to use in order to play video games, but when you put it on silent it’s pretty quiet. The laptop gets pretty hot but does not overheat. I still have one issue with the laptop thought, the fan always vibrates and the vibration can be felt on the keyboard.

The first laptop i bought in this line had severe thermal issues. Bestbuy made the return easy even in these crazy times. Haven't had any issue with the new one. Battery lasts approximately 5-8 hours of media usage, 3-4 for gaming applications. The 1660ti will handle most gaming workloads with ease. The downside I suppose would be the limited storage capacity of the machine at 512gb out of the box. Thankfully both this and ram upgrades are quick and simple with a defined upgrade path should you need more space than that. Overall a very solid machine for $900. get it on sale if you can as the sticker price is a little hefty

Overall I still like this laptop, even if the CPU leaves a bit to be desired, the performance with majority of games is pretty well. The GTX 1660 can keep up with a lot of games at 1080p, but the CPU/GPU isn't going to push high frame rates, even though they equipped this with a 120Hz screen. The biggest con to me would be the fan noise after about 6 months they started sounding weird / clicking. The build quality feels pretty good, it's an all plastic design, but still feels sturdy, and has held up fine thus far. While the Ryzen 7 3750H is OK, it would be a better product with an Intel i7 in it, but for the price I don't know how reasonable that is.

It's a very, very good product for the price, 8 core processor ( and only 35w) with a gtx 1660 ti + a fast SSD (1.6G read) + an impress 8h battery ( for regular use). All these in a light and thin case. I'm impressed with the quality of this laptop. Cons. the colors are not perfect on the screen but for a 120Hz panel, it's ok.

Bought this laptop about 47 days ago. Laptop was a great buy I use it for gaming and does not disappoint. Laptop is fast and sleek looking. Not gaudy like other models of gaming laptops. Also can do work on it as well. This is a well rounded laptop. And bought this while it was on sale which made it even better.

I was going back and forth between this laptop and the new Acer Predator Helios 300 (which also sells for $1199 - i7 cpu, GTX 1660ti, 256g SSD, 144hz screen). What sealed the deal was buying the Asus GA502 during the Dads and Grads sale for $999. On paper, the Helios 300 has better hardware, but that comes at a cost - the Helios is thicker, heavier, comes with less storage, and less battery life. It also has more of a gamer vibe to it, which I didn't care for. In real world use, I've appreciated having the GA502 which is lighter and lasts longer. The AMD CPU and 1660ti Max-Q GPU have been more than enough for my needs. The body is made of plastic, but it feels rigid and doesn't feel cheap. I like the more subdued white backlighting (compared to the blue on the Helios 300), and I personally like that it doesn't have a numpad because that means the rest of the keys aren't as cramped.

Screen is a bit dark but I never did like having a screen at full brightnessand fans can be heard at full throttle but other than that laptop is great. Laptop stays cool even without using a cooling pad. Using a cooling pads actually help keeps the from needing to go full throttle. All games that I use run great at ultra setting. Mostly play world of tanks and warthunder. No webcam but it has a mic to use for voice chat. Not having a webcam is of no matter to me cuz I never really had the need to use one. Laptop is great for casual gamers and that don't like or need a very bright screen

Works well, fan is a little noisy, which is to be expected when taxing the system. Had an issue with it not posting after installing another SSD, had to switch m.2 ports used. For some reason, it added another printer driver for my printer that inverted dark/light text on prints, but could have just been a win10 issue. Speakers work OK for their size, but if you're in a noisy environment, you'll want headphones. Case is plastic, so if you're going to add an SSD, be careful not to over tighten the screws. Also, keep note of where you remove the screws, as it uses multiple lengths.

This is a great computer for the price. I am a fan of Asus products and the components they put in them. Asus gives a lot of bang for your buck. There is no web cam if you use it, but for me, it is a waste of space. Fast processor with software to control and a good graphics card for your mid range graphic heavy games. This was purchased for school and not disappointed.

Plenty powerful and quite nice to look at while also keeping super thin bezels on the display. The the ROG Zephyrus is a fantastically built if not overly constrained laptop PC that can crush any modern game easily. The only two problems lie in the frankly disappointed amount of space on the SSD, and the cooling issues. Cooling being the primary concern, the CPU will begin thermal throttling after just a few minutes of Prey, or if things get a little intense in Skyrim. With an external hard drive, and a laptop cooling pad, this thing is an absolute killer.

I haven’t had any issues with this laptop since buying it. It runs all of the games I play on at the highest performance levels, but admittedly I tend to play older games. It does run hot and the fan can be quite loud. I use a cooling fan and headphones to compensate.

When my six year old laptop started crapping out on the second day of "work from home," I knew I needed to get a replacement FAST! I went to the closest Best Buy and asked for something where I could do coding; processing power & high RAM was a MUST. The guy at the door asked my price range and picked out this laptop for me. It was perfect! Light to carry (though I am not doing much traveling these days), a nice, big screen with vibrant colors, and my coding projects are zooming! It's exactly what I needed. Also, I tend to listen to podcasts &/or music while I work. The sound is lovely. Much better than on my old laptop. I would actually give this 4.5 stars if I could, because the keyboard layout is not quite as good as I would like. The DEL key is oddly placed, and so is the FN key. But beyond that, the laptop suits my needs quite well.

For the price, Ryzen 7 and a 1660Ti with a 120 Hz screen can't be beat. Nothing comes close --- BUT ASUS is bad with laptop thermals. It was true in 2016, it was true in 2019, and its true today. Skip this one - even for a budget build unless you want constant throttling on your amazing Ryzen 7 CPU with a GPU that barely touches 70% utilization because it's being bottlenecked like nuts.

This is my first entry into the gaming laptop realm. I've owned a gaming PC for quite a while and wow, this laptop is on par to a 1500$ gaming PC! This will run anything you want on ultra settings with more than 60fps. This laptop does have a 120hz screen so if you do want that 120fps, you do have to lower down the settings just a little bit. I love playing Warzone on this laptop and I will definitely be keeping this bad boy for years to come. HOWEVER, I will say that you do have to buy a laptop cooler for this. Becuase you are gaming on it, it will run a little hot depending on the game that you are playing. There is also a manufacture issue in which the laptop cooling fans on the bottom are actually covered up with black paper! If you are tech savy enough, I would recommend that you'd open up the laptop and remove the paper so you can properly enjoy this laptop. Also if you are determined to get the best tempuratures, I'd also recommend replacing the thermal paste. It does void your warrenty though.
