I was looking for a replacement for my MacBook Pro. I wanted 13.3", lightweight, nice design and feel, etc. I did not want anything bigger than 13.3" and did not want a Laptop with a GPU because I didn't need it.
This computer though, sold me. Ryzen 7 4th gen is awesome, 8 GB of RAM is a little light but you have the option to add another card which is nice. The design and build quality are both awesome. The keyboard feels great and looks great.
The worst part about this Laptop is the display (and it isn't that bad). It's a 1920x1080 at 60hz. I previously had a Samsung Notebook at 1920x1080 but the colors POP on that one and this is a bit more dull. **Also there is no webcam if you are planning on using this for Zoom/Skype.
This one is 100% worth the buy. I have had it for a couple days and I absolutely love it!!!

First of all, I'd like to start off this review by saying this laptop is my first actual experience with "gaming computers" so that definitely colors this review a little bit and I might be a little biased.
That being said I absolutely adore this laptop. It's quite powerful, runs very well, and boots up within five seconds every time I turn it on. Considering that I am used to $400 hp laptops that can barely run anything more advanced than Dragon Age: Origins, this is a revelation for me. The keyboard is especially nice, and being backlit is only one of the many pros to the overall feel of the keyboard too.
So far I've played a variety of games on this laptop (anything ranging from World of Warcraft to Resident Evil: 3 (2020) with everything and anything in between) and I have to say I am VERY impressed. Granted, I'm not saying the graphics are perfect with the newer titles (RE3 included) but it definitely gets the job done. My only complaint is that the computer itself gets hot very easily when running a game bigger than a few dozen gigabytes, but that's easily managed with a laptop fan or something similar.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this laptop (especially if you want a gaming computer that is portable but can still run well). I feel like I've opened a brand new world and I'm already saving up and planning to get a desktop gaming PC that's partly inspired by how worth it is to have a machine that can actually run what you want to play. Funny how games become even more enjoyable when you can actually see what you're doing without lag.
Also thanks to the high-quality monitor with practically perfect color display, this computer is also funnily enough, great for creating art as well.

Powerful Yet Portable Gaming Laptop

The ROG Zephyrus G14 is an all-around excellent portable gaming laptop. Although it does not have top-of-the-line spec/hardware, the Ryzen 7 4800HS and GTX 1650 are powerful enough to handle most of the things that a productivity user and a casual gamer would throw at it. This particular model also has slightly better cooling than it's Ryzen 9 & RTX 2060MQ counterpart, given that it has less powerful/power-hungry components.
Now before you go and purchase this laptop, I would recommend checking out a few Reddit threads that layout the instructions to properly set up and optimize your new computer. Following these guides will give your new laptop a boost in performance, cooling, and battery life.

I got my ASUS ROG G14 almost a week ago. It has been working wonderfully for me! The shipping was very fast for free shipping as well. Now, about the computer. Yes, the fans do get a bit loud but that's only on performance and turbo mode. (You can set the computer to different modes in the Asus ROG Armoury Crate application) If you have it on silent, the fans are fine. It also gets a bit hot, but again, that's only really on performance and turbo mode. Silent mode still does get a bit hot... but not really. The computer opens applications very fast. I also do love that they included a fingerprint reader which doesn't work super well but it gets the job done.. most of the time. Gaming is very impressive for this laptop. I play light to mid-range games like ROBLOX, Minecraft, Crossout (which is a game on steam) and they all run perfect! I play ROBLOX on the max graphics settings and it runs very smoothly. I also like the backlit keys... which aren't RGB they are just white which I am ok with. This isn't a super flashy gaming laptop, so if you want that then you might want to consider buying something else. There is no webcam but that's also OK because you can just use an external camera. So, yes, I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone who wants a great performing gaming laptop.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 with Ryzen 7 / GTX 1650 has exceeded my expectations of what a 14" gaming laptop is capable of. I did add an additional 8GB stick of RAM to run in dual channel mode. Installation was simple, no issues getting into the back cover. I was looking at the Ryzen 9 variant in white as a potential purchase as well. The reason I chose the Ryzen 7 / GTX 1650 was based on my use case, which is while i game a lot, I play mostly MMOs and did not need the additional processing/graphics power. It would have just been overkill for what I use it for. Additionally, the white keys / white backlighting on the Ryzen 9 version was just too difficult for me to see comfortably.
I got this on sale and honestly for the price here at Best Buy, it was a no-brainer. It is a gaming notebook in an ultraportable body. I ended up giving my Alienware R15 to my son because lugging that laptop around was unwieldy to say the very least. I do not feel any performance drop between the two in the games that I play.
I highly recommend this laptop, especially if you can pick it up on one of Besy Buy's rotating sales.

I'm coming from using a desktop that I built in 2014. The upgrade so far is hard to notice so far. I took a 4 GB RAM downgrade but the GPU is an improvement. When I game its very loud, which isn't surprising since ASUS has two different fan settings for DC (battery) and AC (plugged in) - which is quite neat.
This is the best laptop I have ever bought and have been buying them since the late 80s. The backlighting sucks and wish it had two memory slots but otherwise love it. My last laptop literally fell apart after 4 years and cost twice what this cost. I will be able to hand this one down to my grandkids it is do well built.
Not a gamer but use for transcoding video.
love the portability and price point for features; could use a camera, IOT fully replace my prior laptop, but it does the gaming trick while remaining thin and light (albeit a tad noisy). No issues playing COD Warzone

just better than any other Gaming laptop I've owned. Including Alienware and Razer. The keyboard lighting is the only downfall, but everything exceeds expectations. Got love for the price too.

I bought this laptop open box and on sale, so it came in ~ $1000. I've had it for about two weeks now and have few complaints for my use case as someone who is relatively technically inclined (more on that later). It works very well as a daily driver for office work and light statistical modeling. It's very portable, has an excellent keyboard and touchpad, and outstanding battery life.
Of course who (other than me) is buying this mostly for office work, so on to gaming! I am very impressed with the gaming performance on this entry level model. I am downgrading from a laptop with a more powerful GPU (GTX 1660 ti) and am surprised how little difference I'm seeing in most games. I've played the Witcher 3, which runs at 60 fps on high settings at 1080p without issue. I can also play RDR2 using only slightly lower settings than I did on my old laptop while hitting a similar 30 - 40 fps. (For those who are not familiar RDR2 is a punishing game, so 60 fps with high settings requires much more powerful hardware.) As a warning, I also upgraded the RAM to 16 gb, so the lack of dual channel RAM might slow this laptop slightly in gaming out of the box.
Even with all those good qualities, I am hesitant to suggest it to someone who is not technically inclined as it can be finicky, as are many gaming laptops. It runs warm out of the box, but disabling CPU boosting makes the system run really cool (for a gaming laptop). It also can be loud when gaming, although again no more so than most gaming laptops. The screen is slightly dim and it dims even more when unplugged. This can be modified in software, but it's worth noting for those who just want something to work out of the box.
The only two notable flaws that cannot be fixed by tweaking the software, are the lack of webcam (which I think most people looking at this laptop know about) and the fact that the soft-touch finish on the keyboard deck scuffs and chips easily. The latter issue has been widely reported on various forums on the gray models of the G14 (I'm not sure if it affects the white models).
Overall, I consider this more of an excellent work laptop that can game, rather than a full on gaming machine. The higher specced models would likely fill that gaming role better.
Pros
+ Excellent performance
+ Good keyboard and touchpad
+ Amazing battery life (I often get 9 -10 hours for office tasks)
+ Very portable build
+ Well-built laptop with minimal flex
+ Ergolift hinge is great for typing position+ Runs cool once tweaked
Cons
- Radeon software messes with the screen brightness when unplugged
- Screen is just alright
- No webcam
- Fans rarely completely silent and loud when gaming
- Coating on keyboard desk is easily scuffed and damaged

Overall, this laptop is a great machine. Is it going to play the latest titles at Ultra 4k settings, no, for that you will want a little more powerful graphics card, but for the casual gamer and anyone else who wants a powerful laptop, this is for you!
Build Quality: Is excellent, feels very sturdy, and like it will hold up over time. The screen has a bit of a magnetic closure which is a nice touch to make sure the screen doesn't come open in a book bag.
Performance: So far, it has been excellent. I have played Madden 20 on Ultra Settings no problem on the laptop screen at FHD. The Ryzen 7 is an 8 core 16 threaded beast of a processor. I am ordering 8 more GB of RAM to put in the empty slot, but you can put as much as a 32gb stick and have a max of 40gb. I just simply, don't need that much. The 512 GB SSD is also replaceable, but for me, it will be just fine for now. Very snappy and quick device. The 3200mhz ram is very fast!
Screen: Not the brightest screen, but it works very well in a medium lit area. 100% brightness is a little bit too bright for normal non-gaming situations, the colors seem very accurate, and overall, the screen is decent.
Battery: 6-8 hours under normal use, about 2-3 if you're gaming, and about 10 if you're watching videos. So really, all in all, great battery life for a gaming laptop
Aesthetics: I fell in love with the form factor, the laptop is very light and will easily fit in any backpack. The device doesn't scream gaming laptop which I like. The color is great, the keyboard and trackpad are also excellent. The backlight on the keyboard isn't the best, but it does work and it's much better than nothing.
Overall, this is the perfect laptop for me. I would expect most games to be playable, and video editing/photoshop to run without a hitch. Asus's software that lets you control the fan is very intuitive and easy to use. Asus knows gaming laptops and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a laptop with a great form factor and powerful graphics card.

A fantastic 14 inch mid-range gaming laptop for the money.
Better benches than the Stealth with the same hardware for less money; excellent build quality. Plan on spending the 35 dollars to get another 8GB DDR4 3200 to add for dual channel and increased performance. Access is easy to the device to do so.
1650 plays most of what I play on med/high at 1080 without issue. Temps are good and the unit stays fairly cool.
This is a fine value at normal price and a screaming deal when on sale.

I bought this for software development, photo/video editing and light gaming in a portable package. It is better built than I expected and there is nothing else this powerful in this price range in a lightweight package. Everything I threw at it, it handled it - no hiccups! I added a 32GB stick for a total of 40GB out of which 16GB will run in dual channel mode. The touchpad is a pleasure to use; the keyboard is not bad at all as long as you ignore the funky font.
I don’t care about lack of a webcam. Battery life is not 10 hours as claimed but that’s alright too. I will even get used to the uneven keyboard backlighting.
The real problem for me is the fan whine.. drives me nuts and I cannot in-hear it. It is ok while gaming when the fans are on full blast but during normal work it almost gives me a headache. I may return it for this reason.
Research shows it is a common problem possibly because of cheap quality fans/ too small fans / fan design and how it interacts with air passage in the compact chassis. I don’t know if Asus can fix or not. They made an excellent laptop with no real competition but messed up on a cheap part that has become a deal breaker. If you get one without this whine (not a coil whine and not from speakers), you are lucky but seems others have run into it multiple times. Or if you have hearing loss and can’t hear high pitch sounds, this is perfect ;)

Lack of ram can be a problem for few, but storage is large and fast. And cpu and gpu works well as well. I got it on a discount but the price already was a steal. I used to use a 15 inch and switching to a 14 wasn't that big of an change. Light weight and long battery life. Only complaint is no webcam, sometimes loud fans, and occasionally hot keyboard. Other than that this is an purchase I would recommend to anyone.

The ROG G14 is such an awesome gaming laptop! The high quality magnesium build is durable and looks premium as well. The base model is a gun metal gray with black backlit keyboard. This 14” beast is powered by the Ryzen 7 4800HS 8 Core / 16 thread cpu. Let me tell you this is one fast processor! It handles everything with ease and then some. For light tasks the builtin Radeon Vega graphics handles them with ease. When you want to game on this little gem that’s when the Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU takes over and brings games to life with vivid colors and sharp details. For your listening pleasure the Dolby Atmos Quad Soeakers will fill your room up with rich full sound. The speakers get very loud and have deep bass, excellent mids and incredible highs. These speakers are really great for all your entertainment needs. NOTE - Open the Dolby Access App and set the sound to Dynamic and you will definitely get a boost in sound enhancement!
Included in this laptop is a 76w hr battery that averages 10-12 hours on a charge for light tasks. Gaming on battery will average 2-3hrs at most so keep the power adapter handy.
Reddit has several tweaks and enhancements that can be applied to this laptop that will improve performance and lower temperatures / fan noise while gaming. Worth checking out for sure! Search for ROG G14 Reddit…
I would definitely recommend checking out the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 for a light and powerful gaming machine.
Please note - There is no webcam builtin - Grab yourself usb webcam and you are all set. Most external webcams are much higher quality than what are included in laptops in general.

The Swiss Army Knife Laptop.

The Zephyrus G14 is an overall outstanding gaming laptop design. The performance, small footprint, and battery-life make this thing the Swiss army knife of laptops. It's even dressed up well enough for the board room (if that's ever a thing again).
This isn't the highest configured model, but for $850 on sale you're looking at one heck of a deal for the price. That's mid-range 2-1 class pricing, or budget gaming range with the same GPU here, larger footprint and most often worse thermals and (non-gaming) battery life. The GTX 1650 itself isn't for hardcore gamers, but it will still hit the 60fps mark on a good deal of newer games w high settings, more demanding AAAs w medium/mix settings. Again, for the price though, WOW.
So what actually isn't so great then? Two things:
1) RAM configuration:
One RAM module (no matter what config of this model) is soldered to the motherboard. So here 8GB, means the maximum amount of RAM THAT WILL RUN IN DUAL CHANNEL is 16GB total. Now to be clear, you CAN install up to a 32GB module for 40GB total, BUT only 16GB of that memory will run in dual channel mode. Having 2x slots for memory would have been far better here for buyers at any price/configuration.
2) Storage configuration:
Only 1x NVME slot here folks, and its Gen 3. For me the lack of a 2nd slot is more of a let down (Gen 3 is still plenty fast and not noticeably much different). Being able to just drop in another drive for games would have been WAY more convenient than cloning the existing drive, or reinstalling the OS to upgrade storage capacity.
Bottom Line:
Despite a few shortcomings for expandability, this notebook series pretty much sets the bar for thin and light gaming.

I was looking for an ultraportable with discrete graphics, and had been considering finally shelling out the money for the Razer Blade Stealth. Review after review said the Zephyrus was stellar, but they always discussed the top of the line model. Was the base model with it?
I would emphatically say yes. I’m not a hardcore gamer - my most frequent is a heavily modded Skyrim. With settings on ultra, the game is perfectly smooth and looks great on the display. I was worried that the lower end screen wouldn’t be satisfactory, but I have zero complaints.
The battery life is amazing - even when gaming, it goes for hours. None of my recent laptops (Spectre x360, HP Omen, Sager...) could come close. The laptop is a smidge bigger than my Spectre, and a little thicker... but the performance gains are completely worth it.
I added a Crucial 16MB RAM module, and that was a complete cinch - just remove the back panel screws and slot it in.
I got this during a sale, and it was the best $800 I have spent. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent laptop for work and play. I bought this for my son for his school work and so he could game. The laptop is very solid and premium, but also very portable. The screen is very good and has a matte finish. Viewing angles could be better but it looks good. Keyboard typing is excellent. Lots of modes for extending battery life when away from the charger. The laptop is a beast of performance, but the fans do get loud. Thankfully they are not high-pitched so it's not too annoying. The chassis does get hot while gaming. He is able to play any game on high settings. So far we have not added RAM yet but we can, and thats awesome.
