I was first introduced to the product by the Youtube reviews of the 2020 14 inch model, which this is based on.
Its mostly good value for what you get, but falls flat in a few key areas. I assume you already know what's good about it, so I'm just going to describe the bad.
The SSD is a little small. Not as large as I'd like for games, but you do have an extra M.2 slot for upgrades.
Partially soldered RAM means if you'll have to run it in asynchronous dual channel mode if you want more than 16.
Under load, it gets uncomforatable hot on the top center, both on top and bottom. If you have it on your lap, you wont want your legs in the center for that reason, so you'll probably want to put your legs to the side, and that'll just block the intake vents. So basically it will need to be on a table for gaming. And the fans are extremely whiny. Even my ANC headphones couldn't make it ignorable.
I was willing to get over those earlier problems when I bought it, but what finally made me return it was the lid. The thing is creaky, and bent in the middle. Its clear this wasn't intentional because the bend isn't symmetrical on both sides.
The plastic around the screen feels cheap and creaks, and was already starting to come off the metal backplate when I got it.
Not only that, but applying even slight pressure to the lid permanently deformed the metal backplate. On the bright side, it means you can straighten out the curve, which I did in that last picture. The first two shows how it flattens when pushed down.
I wouldn't trust it to last with even a moderate amount of daily carry, particularly not in a backpack. ASUS really should've made that backplate thicker. Evem reinforcing it with plastic underneath would've been fine.

It's a good laptop. What I don't like about it is that the screen is too thin and plastic if you want to use it for rendering it's going to lag. Battery life is very poor.

Had this laptop for about 9 months. Picked it up this morning to work on some projects and the part that connects the screen to the left side of the laptop simply started coming apart. Did absolutely nothing to damage it, have treated this device like it were my own child since it was so expensive. Overall an excellent laptop, which is why i was so shocked when this happened. Still gets two stars because of the overall quality of the hardware. Hopefully this is an anomaly and it is covered by the warranty.

Should probably be a 5 on stars, it seems all laptops can have some sort of issue. You probably already know the pros, so I'll cover the issues I notice. One the screen I have also has light bleed on the top right area (the screen colors do look nice compared to other screens like my 2021 4k 7 series Samsung TV) , screen does have a curve to it at the top looking down the side and looks like a bit of a bend at that point. flexing it a bit doesn't help just moves the light bleed (they should have used metal for the backside). keyboard does get hot, the bar above it is almost hard to touch when it is really going, not really an issue for casual use but still warm there. My speakers seem fine but I'm not going to go past what I expect for loudness, did push it but not all the way. Some other trouble shooting led to me doing a fresh install of windows (delete partitions). I still get a AMD driver crash (can go awhile) when running a USB camera and my TV over HDMI for Zoom with OBS running to control the camera settings. Still crashing with all updates. Trying other settings and ways around it (also had a game running on the TV black out also), hoping there will be a driver fix for the problem. Had to turn on battery saving mode and make sure all the other controls for power (AMD, Armoury, Nvidia) were turned down to get the long battery life, or else it was going fast with only YouTube running.

I have bought 1 of this and have tried 4 of the 3070 version. All of them have disappointing QC issues. All had the speakers popping issues at high volumes. Some had creaking on the bottom casing, some had screen bezel that is not fully flush to the screen or peeling. Most had light bleed that is acceptable at certain price range but not for the price these are selling at. GPU and iGPU switching can sometimes be glitchy and not function correctly. Ran all the updates so far and nothing has fixed some of the random glitches. Specs are great for these but the hardware QC issues is just not acceptable for this price. I would think most of the glitches and the speaker can be resolved over time with updates but I have tried different ones since January and till now all the issues still persist. Now the price of the 3070 model went up $50. I guess if your okay with the flawed device then go ahead buy it. I am just very dissatisfied with Asus for pushing out products that has bad QC and over time still not addressing the issues. I also bought the 2021 G14 and that has better QC and it’s more portable and better battery life, but the panel response time still not great. Ghosting still pretty noticeable. I suggest buying the G14 instead if your okay with the form factor and the specs. If you buying G15, it will be a lottery. By the way Asus tech support is terrible, don’t depend on them to resolve any issues that is too technical.

The performance of this laptop is just beyond imagination. AMD Ryzen 9 + RTX 3060 is best combination for performance and amazingly batter life is super long considering this is gaming laptop. It give you 8-10hrs easily for normal work and for videos around 7-8hrs which is far better. I would easily recommend this laptop without single doubt. Only thing I didnt like about this laptop is fingerprint sensor and plastic body.

Love it. The screen is beautiful and smooth and the the computer is fast. My only problem is that the USB ports are too tight. Make sure you go into the MyASUS program and set the battery life to maximum life span that way the computer only charges up to 60% and the battery can last a few years longer.

After doing a lot of research on new laptops, this was my first choice for replacing my old Sony Vaio, Asus had a great reputation for quality and service, and my Asus tablets were very good. There is still a shortage of chips and delays for many products, so waiting a few months for this toarrive was not unusual. When I received it, opened it and powered up, I noticed a terrible popping and distortion from the speakers, and after updating windows, all drivers and bios. It was still there. Asus tech had me try a few more things and even 2 restores, and after 3 days it was slightly improved, but not 100% as it should be. Some people may have been ok to accept the speakers being iffy, but the deal breaker was that there was bleed through on the top of the screen in a peculiar spot. I found the screen bezel was warped. I'm sure from rushed production, but not acceptable for a machine in that price range. No replacement was available, and after searching the web specifically for failures, found that this was a complaint several had on first or second shipment. I will have to move up one step and try the G15 above this one or wait to see if the Legion with Ryzen 7 5800 or 9 5900 is out soon. If I decide to give this model another shot I'll update my review.

Great laptop, haven't had any issues with it so far. I was excited for the 3060 variant of the G15 since the 3070 model is not only a little overpowered for my tasks, but also sold out. Runs pretty cool, I get about 8-10 hours of battery when doing regular tasks. I did hope this had a 1TB ssd rather than a 512GB but I can always upgrade down the road.

Great cooling. Easy to open to add a M.2 SSD/RAM. Not too much bloatware pre-installed. Screen quality is great (love that they start to add higher refresh rate to laptops!). I chose the 3060 version, and this GPU is the sweet spot, above would thermal throttle in this form factor. At 1500usd, it's a bit expensive but considering the shortage and high demand, I guess I understand.

so yea my unit, ordered mid April 2021 has a defective speaker. The rest of the computer is fine. You hear what sounds like a blown out speaker. It can't handle low frequencies. Yes, updating drivers and using the included Dolby access app will re-EQ the sound so you don't notice it, but it comes at the cost of volume. This is a hardware issue. If we weren't in covid and BB actually had backup stock, I would return it tomorrow, but these things sell out so fast, I don't wanna be w/o a machine for a month or 2. Also my fear is the replacement unit will have a similar issue.

Other than the fact that the speaker is not well-optimized (this seems to be a common issue with this line of product) -- it sounds blown up after a certain threshold of volume -- and that there are quite a lot of bloatware that comes with the device (excluding essential ones), this is a very good gaming laptop.
The laptop also seems to get warm after a period of usage, even though the workload was not intense. However, some serious tweaking using the AMOURY CRATE might alleviate the issue.
However, for the build quality and its amazing track pad & screen, I would say that this laptop is worth the price.

A bit about me: I am a software developer and casual gamer. Previous to this machine I did all my gaming on a PS3 and am thus new to the PC gaming plethora of options.
Why I choose this Laptop: I like the idea of working on the go post pandemic and thus battery life and a slim form factor seemed important to me. On top of that I wanted a system that would last which means specs that are either relatively future proof or upgrade-able. The system had to be capable of some gaming so that I could play the games from the last decade that I have missed and wanted to play but at the same time does not get too hot or too loud.
This laptop: This laptop fills many of the wants listed above. Only half the ram is upgrade-able but 16GB seems like plenty to me as most applications do not use more than 8 which leaves a further 8 for docker images and the like to run. I have added a second 2TB m.2 for a total of 2.5TB of memory, plenty for installing my small library of games. The GPU is capable of playing games at high settings for many of the tittles I have tried but gets pretty loud to combat this I often play games a medium to low at 1080o resolution which seems to keep the fans to 70% or so which is loud but not too in your face. That said the 2k resolution on this system seems like overkill as does the 165Hz refresh rate but this could simply be my PC gaming noob showing.
pros: -slim, powerful, great IO, great software for altering fan speeds and lighting, long battery life
cons: Gets loud/hot while gaming, no webcam, track pad is a bit too big for me, track pad is a little squishy feeling as is the keyboard, screen could is not bight enough for working outside much
