I've always done my gaming on a PC, and up until the one I'm using now, built them myself, But the need to mix spending time in front of the tv with the wife and edit videos or create missions in Arma 3 for an online gaming group had me looking for a powerful gaming laptop. While I didn't tell the wife, I also wanted it to play online while on vacation. The must-haves; SSD with at least a TB, RTX card, a screen that looked good, and not be too bulky. I've used Asus in my PC builds and though I would've liked 32 GB of RAM, ASUS - ROG Zephyrus S GX701 beat out two others that made the short list. It's really nice! A quality build, the screen pumps out rich colors and performs nearly as well as my gaming PC. It burns through Premiere Pro and the RTX card adds something to Arma 3 over the 1080 Ti in my PC that I cant quite put my finger on. It is heavier than it looks, but that's only because the thing is so thin for the performance it packs. And yes, you can hear the RTX cooling fans kicking in when you start to push it, but they're not overly loud at all. For the more subdued gamers out there, the laptop isn't overboard on lights or the RGB glitz that's overtaken gaming. The color changing keys can be adjusted to your liking but quite frankly, they haven't been annoying enough to be taken of the default settings. The only minor complaint (and this is a 1st world problem) is the metallic black case smudges very easily, leaving ugly marks on an otherwise sleek and impressive looking laptop. I would warn anyone of having this delivered by UPS. Not only did they deliver it to the wrong house, not once have they followed up on my complaint. Nor did they follow up on my complaint about not following up on the complaint! Fortunate for me, my neighbors housekeeper is an honest woman and I tracked down the incorrect delivery. Needless to say, if I my only option is for Best Buy to deliver something by UPS, I'll go to another vendor that uses a different delivery service.

This laptop is an absolute powerhouse. The dropped keyboard is amazing and the cooling system in this thing is world class. Im a physicist and i use this to render galaxy simulations with several billion data points and this handles it no problem.

This is my 2nd Asus gaming laptop. My 1st one was purchased about five years ago and I loved it, but as the years went on it got really slow. It was time for a new one. I did tons of research and decided to go with this configuration and I’m so glad I did. It’s a beautiful piece of equipment. It’s narrow but has weight. It’s screen is gorgeous. My only complaint is that I miss having a cd slot. Luckily I had a usb CD player already so adding my game cd’s was a synch.

Sleeky, sexy, and powerful. I picked up this laptop to head back to school and to also satisfying my mobile gaming desires and it does not disappoint. I had debated on a few models between MSI, Razer, and Asus but, I am glad I went with the ROG. 100% worth the price.

Overall, I would say that it is a really good laptop. However, the camera which usually attached on the top of the laptop top cover, now provided as separate entity. In my opinion, this is a little bit impractical especially if you are a high mobile people because now you have to put the camera every time you want to use it, e.g. Skype.

I wanted to like this laptop. Keyboard is a little awkward but quality is nice. G-Sync is a nice feature to have. After setting up Windows and logging in, the laptop kept freezing. Kind of ridiculous for a $2500 laptop. Also, I looked into the GX701GXXB78 model 2080 32GB RAM. Best Buy has incorrect information for the 2080 model. It doesn't have Gsync and it's a Max-Q model. I think I'm switching to an Msi Ge75.
