There are many online reviews about how the cpu and gpu are mismatched and I'd have to agree. Four cores is limiting for this gpu on a 1080 display. I got this due to the form factor/portability and gaming. Look elsewhere if you don't need the portability. Stock was limited so I bought this one, but the 3060 version of this laptop may be a better choice.

So far I had no issues with this laptop, tried a fell games like Titanfall 2 and Shadow of War and no complains at all. I had bought a Dell G5 (direct from Dell's website) before this one and returned after several problems with the keyboard, let's see how things are going with this one.

My 10 year old nephew who has suffered through remote learning in 2020 and 2021 and who earned top grades deserved a gaming laptop. He initially requested a GeForce RTX 3070 video card which was sold out. However, Best Buy had this laptop available with the video card so grabbed it.

From a gaming laptop perspective, the RTX 3070 Laptop GPU is a decent but not earth shattering GPU upgrade for 2021 gaming notebooks. Compared to its predecessors, the 3070 is up to 15% faster than the RTX 2070 Super, and around 30% better than the RTX 2070 at the same power level.

Like many people, I made the leap from console gaming to PC gaming a few years ago and bought a desktop gaming pc that doubled as an office pc It wasn't an exotic gaming pc by any means, but it didn't really slouch either. Unfortunately, life happens, situations change, and sometimes you have to make due with less space. This has been especially true during 2020. Well my gaming desktop became my small business computer/school computer for my daughter's remote learning. At first I was ok with that, but then I started to get that gaming itch again. BOOM. Enter Asus TUF Gaming Laptop. Gaming where I want., when I want. Just add a mouse. My old desktop had an Intel i5, Nvidia 1060 3gb and 16gb of 2400 mhz ram. Not new technology, and definitely not a Ferrari, but it got the job done. But games and computing needs evolve every day and constantly demand more resources. This Asus TUF laptop comes with some pretty stout hardware, including an Intel i7 (11th Gen), 16gb of 3200 mhz ram, a 1 TB SS, Nvidia 3070 RTX graphics card, Thunderbolt 4 (!), and is wifi 6 capable. All the new and shiny stuff a gamer could ask for. Except for maybe a gaming mouse. There isn't anyone gaming with a trackpad. Initial benchmarks show that this is a very capable gaming laptop (see attached picture). Gaming, school work, graphic/video editing, whatever. It will handle it. Escape from Tarkov, No Problem. WoW? more like WOW!. Sims? lawl. That being said, it still can be better. With some OC work, we will really see where this laptop can take me! Despite having all of the modern hardware, tomorrow there will be something new. Next week I may need to upgrade this Laptops stats to keep up with the new demands of technology. Ok, probably not next week. But the evolution of technology is constant and once we take our new piece of tech out of the store, it is already on its way to being obsolete. And being a techy hands on person, I can't leave enough alone. I always look at how to make things better. Unfortunately, this laptop isn't novice friendly to upgrade. A few years ago, the Asus Nitro 5 had AWESOME expansion bays under the computer that had an empty hard drive bay and an open slot to add a stick of ram. I loved this! Asus, these were a genius idea and I would like to see this again. But the next year, the Nitro 5 released minus the easy access and you actually had to open up the case to upgrade. Still not terribly difficult, but not something that I would want to keep opening and closing...because its plastic. Also, it doesn't appear that this laptop as the open ports available to merely add HD space or RAM. So you would have to replace when the time comes. But circling back around to the good news again...the specs of this laptop all but guarantee that you will not have to worry about upgrading for quite a while. Ultimately, this is a very capable gaming laptop that will give you desktop performance in a very portable and durable form factor. This is a great purchase for anyone looking to have a laptop that is up to the task of handling professional and play at the same time. Its really good out of the box. I just wish Asus would bring back the easy access expansion bays for us nerds.

    Bottlenecked Performance. Left handed Laptop.

Specs look great, but the performance isn't so great. The CPU is not good enough to handle the full capabilities of an RTX 3070. Games do not reach 240 frames so the refresh rate seems like a waste. While gaming, the laptop runs extremely hot and for some odd reason, they put an exhaust on the right side. This blows hot air on your hand continuously and makes it extremely uncomfortable. There are a couple USB ports on the right side as well which gets in the way if you have anything plugged into it. This is good for left handed gamers, but is terrible for right handed gamers. The value for specs seems to be the only win. Time for ASUS to get a new engineering team.

Nothing flashy, though it's a lot prettier than other tuf models. Wish they had it in white because that model looks a lot better. Still, it does the job with a pretty solid battery when not doing anything demanding, and stays relatively cool on the bottom.

55 FPS at ultra settings on Red Dead Redemption. Very good for a laptop. Twice as good as my older gaming That has a 1060 max-a. It is slightly less as good as my old 2070 desktop on benchmarks. All in all a great laptop. I have seen other people have say “this is not as good as other laptops with 3070s.” But those are starting at least $400 more. Some a whole $1000 more. Just do not expect a laptop to perform as good as a desktop. It just won’t.

It works. Got it for around 1200$. Pretty worth it. Desktops are far better for gaming in every regard but this'll do the job for you. I may have gotten lucky with a good laptop, your mileage will vary. Im liking it.

Really good build quality and the screen is nice. Unfortunately I believe the GPU is thermally limited (it's a Max-Q version). I also noticed disparities in performance between the three I bought. Great laptops otherwise.

This is a great small laptop for the price. Really no complaints here other than it is a Max-Q 3070. Could be better, but really for the size of this laptop the Max-Q makes sense.
