    Not a true gaming laptop

I received the laptop today, and it is thin and light, body looks same as the Zephyrus line, with some exceptions to the materials and visuals. I would not call it exactly gaming laptop, even with the equipped Nvidia 3070. since she laptop is thin, sacrifice had to be made in the head dissipation. The ROG Strix laptop have much more sophisticated cooling system and keep with the games much better. When this laptop is under heavy and full load the video card will throttle down immediately to 405 - 425 MHz and 80W of power consumption. The temperature is between 71C to 76C which corelate with the CPU heat. When the boost is off on the CPU the temperature is steady around 72C but I would not call it Gaming environment. This is productivity laptop with high end VGA that allows to play games, but the primary would be for productivity and travel. If you specifically looking for gaming laptop, I would keep looking.

I've had it a week. It is a great all purpose laptop with good battery life. It seems to run most games fine. If I need more of a gaming rig I would simply use my pc. I appreciate the battery/performance level at this price point.

Not a bad gaming laptop for what you get. Wish they would have put a better CPU in this only having 4cores and 8 threads sucks with trying to multitask while gaming, ie streaming. But all and all it will play Warzone on med-high settings at 1080 with around 90-100 FPS.

Really great performing machine. Handles pretty much all modern games in its native 1080p resolution at almost 100FPS Have even used the display out to a 4k 55" inch tv for flight simulator, and still gives a minimum of 60 FPS. Great value for the money.

The ASUS TUF DASH gaming laptop is great option for someone who wants to have a proper PC gaming experience without breaking the bank. The Intel i7 paired with the 16GB of RAM offer plenty of computing power for demanding tasks. I can easily play my favorite game, while also live streaming on Twitch, at maximum quality settings without any issue. The 1TB M.2 SSD gives you super-fast boot times, quickly game load times, and is large enough to store a decent library worth of titles. The GeForce RTX 3070 makes it possible to play every game at the highest quality settings, including ray tracing if available. Even when turned that high, I never saw my framerate dip below 100 fps. Speaking of framerates, the 240Hz display looks amazing. The LED backlight makes it easy to see no matter where you are and the high refresh rate means you don’t miss a single bit of the action. The ASUS Armoury Crate software even allows you to quickly switch the display settings to suit your current needs. The built-in speakers sound decent and get loud enough to enjoy your games, videos, or music. The cooling fans are basically silent until you start to tax the system. But even when you do, they aren’t excessively loud. Plus, they seem to wait to spool up until they have to unless they are set to turbo cooling. The keyboard is response and has a satisfying feel and the trackpad is reasonably sized without being too in the way. But you’re only going to use the trackpad for basic tasks; you will need to attach a mouse to do any proper gaming. Attaching things to the ASUS TUF DASH laptop is a perfect segue to discuss the things that I don’t like about it. There are no ports on the rear of the laptop. Nearly everything is on the left-hand side which the exception of 2 USB ports on the right. The one the bugs me the most is the power port which is located smack dab in the center. Not only does it look really out of place there, but I have found that it tends to be in the way. ASUS does include a 90 degree plug but you’ll have to keep it rotated towards the rear if you plan on using the ethernet port. To make matters worse, you’re going to have to it plugged in the majority of the time, especially if you’re gaming on it. This thing is incredibly power hungry as evidenced by the included 200-watt power adapter. Battery life from a full charge is only a couple of hours; less if you’re giving it a workout. While that’s not great, it is not surprising considering the type of performance this laptop offers. Also, I discovered that both the laptop and the power brick get quite warm after just a couple hours of gaming. Though I will mention that I did not notice any thermal throttling even when playing for 4+ hours nonstop. Since I mentioned streaming earlier, it is worth noting that there no integrated webcam. Whether this is a good thing or not is for you to decide. My least favorite feature on this laptop is the keyboard backlighting, specifically the color which cannot be changed. It is this really pale green that reminds me of the dash in nearly any car from the late 80s or early 90s. I have others remark that it makes them think of old command-line monitors or early ATMs. The best I heard was that it reminded someone of the green text in the Matrix. I agree with all of them. On top of this, there are only 3 lighting effects available: static, breathing, and strobing. I found breathing and strobing to be too distracting so I either leave it on static or turn them off entirely. Personally, I think a simple white backlight would’ve looked much better if single color lighting was the only choice. Full RGB would be ideal so that there was some ability to customize your laptop to your tastes. I do like the clear WASD keys but I would have rather all of the keys be transparent. With all of that being said, I still highly recommend the ASUS TUF DASH gaming laptop. You get desktop levels of performance in a package that is less than inch thick, only 4.5 pounds, and all at a reasonable price point. There is no way to achieve this without some compromises, but I feel that the positives greatly outweigh the drawbacks.

This is an excellent gaming laptop especially based on the price/performance factors. I found it does have less capabilities when compared to the top of the line machines, but is less than ½ the price. I also felt the overall design points provided a very nice machine for everyday use as well. Running a few powerful games showed a gaming environment that was excellent from the graphics perspective, keyboard touch and speed; although I did wish for a better on-board audio. I also found that for other uses, this unit with it’s very strong specifications was super fast using MS Office products, streaming videos and other everyday functions. Great wireless and nice antenna. I found with a 400 Mbs internet speed max that while running wireless this unit tested out several times at over 385 Mbs – very nice. Also the 1080p 240Hz panel provides some ‘future proof’ capability for those of us who can’t afford a new machine as often. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 is another highlight; along with 16GB and 1TB SSD, and Intel 11th Gen i7. In fact trying to price a machine with the spec’s of this ASUS - TUF 15.6" Gaming Laptop seemed to prove this PC is a very real bargain. Physically the unit is very thin, and built solid. The bottom panel will come off easily with normal tools, not much need for my fix-it special tools. A few improvements would be a webcam, please don’t solder any of the memory in, and improve as mentioned the on-board audio punch. I get why the power cord enters in the middle of the left side, I’d prefer that so that the cooling capabilities are optimal – so I think that was a good design tradeoff. I actually liked the soft greenish backlight for the keyboards, it stops me from trying multiple combinations (which just wastes my time) and the one color does the job perfect; it is a great color choice as well as enough brightness options by the designers. The Armory Crate software was fine. I did have a little trouble upgrading the BIOS which was my fault, since I forgot to plug the unit in, my bad. I mention it because I kept trying it and restarting and maybe my comment will help other absent-minded folks like me. I did add a 1080P J5 Create webcam which worked perfectly - model JVCU100. I highly recommend this unit as a mid-range gaming machine which should be fine for all except the pro gamers. It can be your everyday laptop as well as your gaming box. Very well done ASUS.

Not worth the price with the performance of this GPU RTX3070 inside this laptop, it doesn't perform well enough for the games. It's better to buy the RTX3060 version which can save you more than $350. I will return this.

Nice laptop. The RTX 3070 can handle whatever you throw at it, the I7 has great speed and the graphics are excellent. These new generation $1500 laptops outdo $3500 laptops from just last summer.

Great Mid-range laptop!! You certainly get what you pay for. Please use when plugged in for gaming and would highly recommend a cooling pad to lower the noise. The software over-clocking works really well. Screen is amazing and the RTX3070 are a solid combination. Storage is snappy, gets even better with a second nvme drive. Many look at the CPU as a huge potential bottle neck in the system. I'm still looking for it. I've been running AAA titles every chance I get, still not seeing the bottle neck. I use the laptop for gaming, virtualization, video editing and more, this laptop just keeps on giving.

The biggest gripe I have about this laptop is the cooling solution and graphics card power limit. The cooling solution is barely able to keep up with the GPU causing it to downclock on heavy load. The GPU also has the lowest TGP (85w) rating for RTX 3070.
