I would NOT recommend this computer to anyone

After first purchasing this computer, I was excited about it because of the touch screen feature and the fact that it looked close to a MacBook for less than a MacBook price. Less than a year later the touch screen messed up, and looked as if someone was touching my screen when obviously no one was. That problem made me unable to use my computer at all, which was a serious problem for a student. Thankfully my computer was still under warranty though, so I sent it back and after using it for two days it is already messing up again! It is ridiculous the amount of issues I have had with this product and I would highly recommend staying away from anything asus sells.

Great build, but poor trackpad and touchscreen

This laptop is excellently built. It is the perfect size and is light.
No matter how many times I wash my hands, the trackpad and the touchscreen makes my fingers stutter. The touchscreen is responsive, but you get your moneys worth for this. I have a hard time moving tiles around in the start menu. Also, the trackpad sometimes doesn't support multi-gestures. It will turn on and off. I'm planning on returning it and getting a non-touchscreen. Overall, I'm disappointed with it. It has so much potential.

This computer is terrible

I bought this computer to use as a lightweight, portable school computer. In that respect, it is fine. It is very lightweight, but then again so is a piece of styrofoam, which is about as useful as this horrible laptop.
I've had this laptop for a year and it is EXTREMELY finnicky. Recently, the trackpad just stopped working. Sometimes it will come back to life, but then it gets tired or something and just stops. I found myself thinking "good thing this ha a touchscreen," but I was gravely mistaken. The touchscreen is really, really bad. It's about as precise as a shotgun and the whole computer shifts when you touch it. Sometimes it freaks out and thinks something is touching it when nothing is, which locks your cursor in place and makes the computer useless until it figures out what's going on.
The worst thing about this sad excuse for a computer is that it constantly drops connection to the internet. I don't just mean it goes slow sometimes. No, it just disconnects itself, sometimes as often as every 3 or 4 minutes. It doesn't care what you're doing or how good the connection is. I've used it in over 10 different states with over 20 different routers, ISPs, etc and it never ceases to disconnect often, and usually when i'm in the middle of something. When it's feeling especially mean it will just forget that it even has wifi capability and will prompt you to use an ethernet cable. It wont remember that it can use wifi until it's been restarted.
This laptop is HORRIBLE. Get something else! The touchscreen is bad, the computer itself is only barely able to do rudimentary tasks, and i really wish I'd just gone with an abacus or a TI-84 because the nightmares this hunk of junk has put me through are something I'd only wish on my most terrible enemies.

Touchpad is unusable

Without a wireless mouse this computer is completely unusable - the touchpad simply does not work and the touchscreen is inadequate. It doesn't register clicks, it doesn't scroll well, and it doesn't move accurately. I regret buying this computer and will never but another Asus. The slow speed and poor performance are secondary to the infuriating touchpad.

Just don't buy it

I bought this laptop about a year ago now, and I had to exchange the first one I bought because the power button stopped working after about 3 times shutting this laptop off. I should have just returned it for good then.
A few months after owning it I had to take the second one back into Best Buy to be sent out for warranty work because the charging port broke and the laptop wouldn't charge. Asus took about a month to fix that. Then a few weeks after I got it back from Asus, the touchscreen display stopped working. The only thing Asus costumer support told me to do was send it back in, again. I couldn't send it in though, as I had school work to be done. Then about 3 months after the touchscreen went out, the smart gesture touchpad stopped working. Now I'm just waiting for the whole laptop to stop working.

Reasonable laptop with NO expandable RAM
Posted .

I bought this laptop in March thinking that I would expand the RAM to fit my needs. It says on the Product Specs on the Best Buy website that the RAM is expandable upto 8GB. When I received the product it performed reasonable. In July I finally decided it was time to expand the RAm like I planned it. I bought a DDR3 4GB RAM module at Best Buy. Even the sales rep in the store said that the expansion was possible. When I installed the module, I discovered that the laptop size remained unchanged. I decided to call ASUS Customer Care, and the ASUS Rep told me that the RAM for this model is NOT expandable.
I FEEL BETRAYED. What am I suppose to do now! DISSATISFIED customer.

Screen has quality issue
Posted .

After one month of light usage (less than 1 hour an day), the screen starts to develop a spot where the color is not as bright and sharp, similar to the phenomenon created by air bubbles on a smart phone screen. The spot grew to about 2~3 inches wide. It then started shrinking and finally disappeared at around 2 month
We thought it was probably just glue that needs sometime to dry, but the spot just came back a couple weeks ago after four months of usage. It's getting big and I don't think it's going away this time. I am contacting Asus for service now.
Very disappointing quality...

Dear Valued Customer,
If I may, I would like to help.
I am not sure if the issue with the display will show in a picture, but do you think you could provide me with a picture of the screen having this issue? Also, may I have the serial number of the laptop please? Please send the requested information to my email at [email protected].

Touchpad scrolling function randomly cuts out, can't figure out why. Looked through online forums, no answers. Tried the manufacturer's website, but can't find where I would contact for help, very frustrating.
