I really wanted to love this laptop. I got it on sale for $679.99 which I thought was a great deal for core i7 8th gen, 8gb ddr4 ram, and 516gb ssd...but there were a few annoyances I could not get past and eventually returned it. Pros: Very fast. I upgraded ram to 12gb Was on sale Backlit keyboard Fingerprint sensor GPU is decent Cons: Screen. Absolutely terrible and the main reason I returned it. Its dim, the colors are bad, and viewing angles are terrible. I thought I could live with it but after staring at it for 5 days and adjusting every setting possible there was just no way to accept the terrible screen. Believe me, its bad. The anti glare coating, or maybe just the panel itself, caused a blury image. The blacks were so bright. Even the smallest shift in position led to inverted colors as you viewed the screen from a different angle. Even looking at it directly head on, there was a change in color/hue from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. Sound. Speakers are just too quiet. They are bottom firing and are decent quality but the volume is just not adequate. I found myself using earbuds 90% of the time because I could not hear it. Like I said, I wanted to love it, and was pleased with the performance and specs, but the screen and sound were so bad I had to return it. I spent 5 days tweaking every setting I could find, making sure drivers were updated, and scowering the internet for answers. So, I decided to write the review that I wish I had read before I bought it. I cannot recommend it.

This was my third ASUS purchase. I had a 15.6” VivoBook and I thought my experience with this new purchase would be somehow the same or even better. However my expectations fell short a while after receiving it. I do recommended the computer if you are not so serious about your tasks in the laptop, but I use it primarily for some Civil Engineering work like Revit, Matlab scripting, Structural Analysis and other serious software that get the computer freaking hot even when it is not plugged in. Really disappointed in that way. I think that I saw this one with a Intel i7 10th generation on the specs sheet, however that could be my bad. But however I’m using way back my old VivoBook 15.6” which has the same specs as this new one and even more storage (256GB SSD and 1TB HDD) and don’t get that hot. Don’t take so serious on me... the laptop is a very smooth and well made machine for the most commonly tasks that a person could do on a computer, but not that well suited for heavier software and work. Pros: Really nice colors and well made. No craftsmanship issues. Really good packaging. Keyboard is smooth and well balanced, no problems typing on it even with big fingers. Screen is good enough, however may have some resolution issues with certain softwares and apps (AutoCAD for example). Super fast boot times and processing, the i7+SSD is a real good deal for this price. Cons: Gets really really hot even after a couple minutes of operation, even when it is not charged. The SSD storage may run a little short after some months of use. I already used like 50 GBs of mine (470GB more or less that you can use apart from the Windows OS reserved storage). The fact that I only can upgrade 4GBs of ram is a little bit annoying to me. I don’t know if I can expand the storage, but not really willing to pay extra bucks for an already $800 computer. I know it is a 14” model but if you are used to a numpad you may miss that in smaller models. I’m thinking on returning it soon and get a bigger computer maybe in the same ASUS lineup.

      Dear Diego,

Indeed, the laptop has a nice aesthetic design and it's snappy. Do understand your concern about thermal issues.

It is normal that the laptop generates more heat than normal while under heavy load, like WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan, and running resources intensive applications. It's slim form-factor is also a contributing factor. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down.

Very nice and fast laptop, good quality speakers and camera. It works great for Zoom video conferencing. I only wish it had a built in Ethernet port instead of having to buy an adapter ad cable for spotty internet issues. Other than that, it is great and I am happy with my purchase. It is also my first Asus purchase. Ok

Super fast. lightweight. back lit keyboard, what's not to love? used it to run multiple applications including video servers all during a remote meeting and it handled all with no issued and no lag of the video conf. It being a laptop with an I7 & an SSD, using a cooler pad is a MUST for tasks over an hour.

I bought this computer on December 23rd. I was sick for the first two weeks in January and was unable to start using it until last week. When I started the new computer, the image on the screen was blurry, unclear and distorted. Also, the WIFI stopped and disconnected the computer for no reason. I contacted BEST BUY only to find out that there was nothing to be done to return it because the deadline was January 16th. I explained that I was sick and due to COVID could not go to the store. ZERO help. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. This is the last time I will purchase ANYTHING FROM BEST BUY.

This machine is a performer, very fast and powerful for every day use. The build quality is about average. The only issue I have is the USB-C port does not allow for video out, so docking the laptop to multiple monitors requires that you have wires everywhere as opposed to a single docking hub.

Really nice for the price. Needed something quick for school and couldn't afford something too expensive. Haven't had any issues at all aside from my dog scratching the exterior. Screen quality does look a little wonky if you're at an angle but other than that I love it. It's a small laptop so it's easy to carry around and put into pretty much any bag I have.

Bought this laptop to replace my sisters failing old toshiba. The battery life has been good so far and she is able to play a few games in her offtime with the dedicated graphics. Dont expect to play AAA games at high settings because the gfx card is dinky but it will get the job done in lighter applications.
