Way too Slow

I have tried to rid the Start up menu of as much superfluous stuff as possible and it still takes 6+ minutes to boot up. Then, once booted up, it is very slow to open any program (My ASUS took another 6+ minutes)! Granted this is a cheap computer, but it should move way faster than it does. (My old machine has 8GB RAM compared to 12GB RAM in this new one.)

In today's world where most seem to want smaller-sized computers, I prefer one with this size when I watch anything online. I also prefer the 1TB HDD.

System will handle a 32GB SoDimm DDR4 3200 - I now have a total of 36GB. Good laptop with large screen suitable for work/school - this is not a gaming system. NVME SSD makes a huge difference in speed.

The Best Buy manager was very helpful and understanding. Things wrong - 1. The touch pad hardly worked even when set on the most sensitive setting. It was actually slightly misaligned. 2. Some of the keyboard keys double and triple tapped (I've seen this on several laptops but only after 2 years of service, not right out of the box). 3. The down scrolling arrow stuck so the page scrolled uncontrollably. 4. Why they would place the page down/up[ keys in the middle of the top row instead of on the upper left like everyone else is strange and hard to use due to the gray and silver keys/letters. 5. This was the absolute slowest computer I've ever had. It reminds me of the old dial-up days when it would take minutes to load a page, although off-line work was fine. That being said, after reading both positive and negative reviews, I took a chance and bought another one, hoping mine was just defective, and because the sale price makes it much lower than other laptops in its class. It's only been one day, but the new one operates as it should. I guess I have another 3 weeks to see if the new one goes back or I keep it...

All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.
It's good to know that the second unit is working properly. Keeping Windows and drivers updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance.

Extremely slow

A good inexpensive computer

My dislike is the MS browser which is cluttered, has an extremely poor search engine and is literally useless in a lot of situations. The screen is great with sharp graphics. It is a solid computer with everything you need on it.
