So far, so good. This is much faster than my previous Asus. Easy to use tho wish the "num lk" could be set to stay on ala "caps lock". Love this product. Only critique is the gray keyboard - (which I like) but if using the laptop under a lot of light, it is difficult to read the keyboard. Recommend!!!

I am retired and don't do much regarding gaming or work on my computer. I just use it for general needs to keep up with family, friends, shopping and basic gaming. This is probably better than I need so as far as I'm concerned this is great. I just wish there was a better contrast of the letters on the keys. Depending on the light angle they can be hard to see.

I have had this computer less then a year. The first problem I have I have come across is the touchpad button sticking and I have to physically raise it back up. Other then that I wish the keys had a different letter color to make it a bit easier to type. Other then that the computer runs good and fast and I have accomplished a lot of work on it.

When you catch this on sale and do a couple of upgrades this is a very capable laptop. The two big draw backs on this computer is the physical harddrive and 12gb of memory. I was lucky enough to catch this on sale as an open box. First boot up was almost 5 minutes next was 2.5 to 3 minutes. I picked up pny 2.5 inch ssd 1tb and cloned the harddrive installed and boot time drop to less than 30 seconds. Next upgrade was to the memory the laptop comes with 4gb soldered to the board and only one memory slot I maxed it out with a corsair 16gb stick for a total of 20gb. There appears to be plenty of room to just run two memory slots but I get it how can we build it cheaper. Also not impressed with the computer coming in windows 11 s mode. I was trying to surprise my sister with buying her a new laptop for her birthday. Windows when in streamline mode will not allow you to install anything outside of the Microsoft store onto your computer like Chrome or a third-party dish cloning software. So I had to setup a Microsoft account for my sister to unlock windows from s mode aita. So to recap do i think the laptop is worth normal price without upgrading harddrive and memory no. Is the laptop a smoking hot deal when on sale for 1/2 off yes. After my upgrades and adding office 2016 total cost of my build was under 500 dollars about 460. At that price point I think you will be hard press to find a laptop with i5 cpu 1tb ssd 20gb of ram and a 17.3 in screen. The only other draw back is the coloring used on keyboard silver on sliver is just hard to see would have been better if they used black keys and sliver lettering or added a back-lit keyboard. I like this laptop at the price I paid for it

I've owned several Asus which is why I purchased this one, Very disappointed in this model. My older model was way faster and didn't have the lag issues this one does. Could be Windows being a resource hog, but with 12gb of ram, that should not be the case when I am not doing anything graphic or resource intensive.

I bought this for an assistant to scan and put things in different cloud programs. He is very pleased with it. The keyboard is not backlit, but he doesn't work in the dark so it isn't a problem for him. It was recommended by my computer tech person. Price was right, RAM and HD were the sizes we need. The battery is new, works fine now. For what we need, it is fast enough. My assistant likes the display. So far, so good.

Very good equipment, elegant and clean design, the only drawback is the battery life.

Not great. Slow to boot, and slow to open applications. Was hoping for a better experience from a laptop with 12GB of Ram. Even on battery saver, the battery life isn't as advertised, I cant get more than 2 hours out of it.

Good value for what I paid (half regular price) on sale. Fast and plenty of storage and memory. Would not pay full price. Non backlit keyboard characters are nearly impossible to read - gray letters on silver.

Bought this laptop on sale for a customer. Specs were good for the price but there are better out there. For example the 1600x900 display resolution isn't great, the traditional HD vs SSD was a letdown, the white letters on the silver keyboard were nearly impossible to see in a dark room but for the price this was acceptable. The highs were definitely in the RAM and CPU side. 12GB of RAM and an i5 processer are good. Laptop also had a M.2 slot so I threw in a WD Black 500GB SSD there and it really released the computer's speed potential. Wish I could find another at the price I paid.

Having several issues 1. most important is the keyboard. It is light in color and the keys have very little contrast and are difficult to see. 2. May not be a computer issue, but it is not booting all the way up. (have an appointment with local best buy geek support. 3. I lose my internet connection often, again may not be a computer issue.

When I bought this laptop, I didn't realize the hard drive would be an HDD as most laptops now come with SSD. But my goodness, the boot time was so slow. After windows started up, the disk usage was at 100%. After 20 min or so, the disk usage was still hovering around 60-70% and I didn't even have any applications open. This definitely is hindering the performance of the laptop. Didn't ASUS tested this before putting it into the market. I don't care how much the price they sell this for but if there is a major flaw in the design, then this shouldn't have been released. This is my first ASUS brand laptop and not having the best experience. At least this laptop has an upgradable slot for an SSD card. Hence, the two stars instead of one.

I purchased the Asus Vivobook laptop for my daughter as a birthday present and could not be happier with my decision. She absolutely loves it. The Vivobook has good battery life. My kiddo makes digital art and switches between her iPad and a Huion tablet. The Asus laptop has a 17.3" screen and when she uses her tablet, she can't believe how beautiful, bright and clear the display is. She is used to using a 15.6" laptop, but the larger size on her Asus makes a difference we weren't expecting. The Vivobook is quick and has a lot of storage space for her artwork. Also, she plays Genshin Impact, Roblox, Minecraft, and The Sims 2, 3, AND 4 on it. She has all the stuff packs and extensions plus custom content in addition to two or three different art editing programs that she uses and there still isn't any lag. I happily recommend this laptop to anyone looking for quality at a bugdet-friendly price. If I am being honest, I really want to take it from her and make it my own!!! I am giving it 5 stars and would give more if I could. Oh, one last thing, if you are unsure of what to purchase, please take advantage of the help Best Buy customer service offers. I spoke with a representative, they asked questions about what the laptop I was looking to purchase would be used for, I told them and also explained I was on a STRICT budget. The rep I worked with LISTENED, and gave me several options, and a few of them weren't listed on the website. I searched on the website and the laptop I was going to choose was not as powerful and didn't have as big of a display as the Vivobook. The Vivobook was also less expensive than the laptop I thought I was going to buy. If I wouldn't have sought help, I wouldn't have known about the Vivobook. I am very thankful the rep I worked with helped me the way they did. I'm sorry this is so long, but I am so happy I made the decision to go with the Asus Vivobook instead of another laptop and I want to let everyone know how awesome it is!!! Take care and stay safe!

I did two things, which made a great improvement to the laptop. 1. Add a m2. 2280 NVME SSD, there is PCIe x3 slot, Samsung EVO plus 970 is a good choice (~3500 mb/s writing), which is close enough to Max 4Gb/s reading that the Pcie 3x4 could support. you can search youtube channels for demos, which show how to add/replace the SSD. After that, you would also need to "clone" all the data from HD to SSD to make SSD a booting drive. You can also search youtube for clone HD to SSD (I use AOMEI ver 6.3, following youtube). 2. Upgrade the Sodimm ram to 32GB, the loptop currently has 8GB upgradable (+4 GB soldered), you can also follow that through youtube video. (I tried cheaper Team group and G.skill CL22) they both work well,

Beautiful screen. A little slow to boot up, but performance is acceptable once it gets going. Battery life is decent. It's a little heavy though. But all-in-all, very happy with it.

I just checked my purchase history and I couldn't believe that I bought this laptop two years ago: I feel like I'm using an eight years old dying laptop! Starting from about half a year or so after buying, the laptop is just getting slower and slower that every windows update becomesva struggle. Right now, every boot up takes 10-20min before the windows defender finishing its scan and the disk can finally go below 100% so I can actually do something. And in fact that I'm writing this review here, is becasue for the past two hours, I have been updating the windows (or forced to update), which keeps the disk at 100% so the laptop just freeze for hours. Even now after the update is conpleted, it takes 3 second for the window to show up when I click file explorer, Chrome takes 10s. The disk is a trap (HDD 5400rpm) and I regret to say that I fell for it. Who know if anything else would come up if I upgrade it to a sdd, thanks to the time when the laptop froze I already nail down a new laptop I want to buy from somewhere esle. Really hope you don't buy this one.

No backlight even though when searching on the internet Asus stated it had a backlight. Their website did not clarify when searching under this model number. Very hard to see the letters and numbers on the keyboard, small black script on a silver keyboard on this laptop.

Pretty easy to setup. Lots of storage. Not the fastest laptop but does the job for mostly photo download and editing. Letters on keyboard hard to read

Good computer but slow. I havent been able to use it for the program I need because the speed isn't there.
