I hate I missed the return window. The battery life on the cmputer is atrocious. Other than that, it could be a great computer. Have to be plugged in all the time defeats the purpose of having a laptop.

Wish I had read the reviews before buying. I trusted Best Buy’s recommendation. We’ve had it for almost a year. From the beginning it has randomly shut down. We only use it about six hours a week, so it’s not from overuse or overheating. It stays plugged in so it is not due to low battery. Took it back to Best Buy after a few months of this happening and was told they could send it off, but it would just most likely get sent back without being repaired. It’s not used for gaming or anything that is taxing it. It’s very frustrating because this might happen two minutes into getting started or twenty minutes.

The absolute worst laptop at any price. No amount of cheap can prepare for.how slow and unresponsive this laptop is out the box. It operates nothing like it does in the store once you take it home. Thats a demo mode their showing you in the store..this laptop is so bad it struggles doing in pic operations. Like if you try to open a window or a folder thays just info on the laptop at minimal it will be a 80 second wait. Its going to give you a not responding message and be stuck on that screen until you turn it off. There is no correcting itself on this laptop. Just to get on the home screen the sign in procedure lasts 2 minutes at its shortest and Im not exaggerating. I been waiting for it to sstart working again while I write this review and Im still waiting. Had to turn it off twice while I write the review. If you think you are doing yourself or your student a favor by shopping for a deal you will be sadly mistaken and highly disappointed in yourself. Especially if you read this review and still buy it. I believe nothing Asus is worth the money. And I live a good deal. But lessons must be learned and Asus is out to show why you dont bargain shop for certain items. Go head and get the nice one. Your peace and sanity are well worth it

This is just an ok laptop, when I got it, it was very slow. Being a computer guy, I purchased a 32GB ram card upgrade, and put a 1TB M.2 SSD in it and took out the junky 2.5" Toshiba mechanical hard drive, and now this thing came to life! After the upgrade this is an absolutely wonderful laptop! That's an extra $180 for the upgrade. But if your looking to buy this computer to use as is, it's just an ok laptop. Boot times (from power button push to being able to use windows on your desktop); Original HHD and RAM 14:45, After upgrade to total 36GB RAM and western digital black M.2 1TB SSD <0:05 Worth upgrading, but not that good as-is.

I purchased the Asus based on what I knew in the past. I found out real quickly that I should have returned it. I have been disappointed since. Firstly when I noticed the keyboard was not backlit I should returned right then. Slow boot up should have been strike 2. But its overall crappy performance has me looking to sell it since I cant return it and by something with simple amenities like backlit keyboard and better setup. It should never take more than an hour to update. I do not game all I habe done is job search and interviews. Looks as if I will be kicking this can down the road.

Great girft for my oldest she loves it and enjoys using it for schools and starting her a digital visual business.

I really like the laptop for the size and quality of the item. However, why would you have gray buttons with gray lettering. That makes it very difficult to read the letters, then you can't find any sticker/keyboard cover with different color letters so you can see better. The battery does lose charge fairly quick, so I keep it plugged in. Over all, that's the only issue I have had with the laptop.

Would be excellent if the keyboard was either lighted or had contrasting letters on the keys, cannot see to type

works great as a casual use laptop. the large display is easy to see, even with several windows open. the 1TB drive has plenty of room for pictures and music. the 12 GB ram is too small and is slow to start and can be slow during heavy use. the only really bad thing about this computer is that it has silver keys printed with light gray characters. the keyboard is not back lit so the keys are impossible to see in certain lighting conditions.

I love the Asus laptop. Great screen size, fast processor (Intel i5) and tremendous memory/capacity. Now the "down side". I didn't get a back lit keyboard and I did not notice a problem with the keys until I got it home but the keyboard is almost impossible to see without lighting at a certain angle.

Have had it for over 2 years now and it’s perfect for everything.

I didn’t realize it wasn’t a touch screen so that made it hard to use. I also thought a bigger screen would be nice but that just made it way to big to take places. Speed never seemed any different than my old computer.

I purchased this on sale for $499. It has a mechanical HDD, but looks like I can install a NVMe drive for faster boot up. I like the screen size and smooth feel overall, but the characters on the keyboard should be darker or lit up to see them better. If I were a real typist, it wouldn't matter. The battery life could be better too, but that's probably due to the HDD. Overall, it's a good laptop.

I haven’t been thoroughly impressed the computer has seemed slow from the time I got it and took it out of the box and I don’t use it much but it is always wanting to update

This computer us slow for a new computer. The keyboard has low contrast and the print is ver hard to read. Computer works well otherwise.

I bought this laptop due to the higher 12GB memory (many are 4 or 8) and 1TB storage. I believed with the higher memory, that the laptop would load with more ease and more quickly. Boy was I wrong! I believe this is the slowest laptop I've had in 20 years. Do not buy this laptop. Seriously, I should have worked on it more during my return period and now I'm stuck with it. I hate it! Truly hate it! I can't say one good thing about it. Ugh!

Got this laptop for a Christmas present for my daughter. So far she is loving it. Excellent screen. Excellent keyboard. The processor is super fast. Being used mostly for school so she hasn’t yet discovered or used every feature this laptop possesses. The laptop is a great deal. It has a large footprint so be aware if you are looking for a small laptop. It’s mostly used on a desk so it is hardly backpacked but it does fit normal backpacks. It’s nice to look at and not heavy.

slow for an I5 processor and at night it is difficult to write because the keyboard does not light up.
