Many users appreciate the 1TB SSD storage and the ability to multitask with multiple programs running simultaneously. However, some users have concerns about the visibility of the keyboard characters in certain lighting conditions and the limited battery life on a full charge.

Good function, style not so much

The laptop is nice, fast speeds and most programs run fine. I do have a slight issue with excel but its not a killer. The reason I only give it 3 stars is the silver laptop and keys are extremely hard to view. It's nearly impossible to read the keys, the letter keys really aren't necessary to see but other function keys etc that aren't used a lot are hard to find. I would recommend either a keyboard with backlight or getting a different color other than the silver. Other than this the laptop is fine

Its a good machine. gets done the basics of what i need. Just wish they didn't list it as a laptop, since it is not what i consider a true laptop. Low battery life on a full charge and I know I will be replacing the power cord in no time as it is pretty flimsy. Not good when I have to move the unit around a lot. For the price it does the basics. I'm not a gamer so don't need the fancy stuff but wish the graphics were better, so not really good for editing photos.

Great machine! This was a great choice for replacing an outdated laptop. Was able to quickly set up with required software for a demanding requirements with ease. Lightweight, responsive and has worked flawlessly for the past 1+ months we have had it! Do recommend based on our experience.

Excellent Computer for the money. I use it with an external monitor so not too concerned about the keys being hard to see. For the price you get lots of bang for the buck. Very pleased and this replaced my 8 year old ASUS laptop that never had any issues at all.

Defective graphics card; poorly designed keyboard

Graphics card was defective right out of the gate. Customer support to reset computer was exceptional. However, it was a defective graphics card out of the gate and reset (with new drivers) did not resolve. With a 17" screen and casing, I would expect a "real" full-size keyboard; this one is not. Moreover, the labeling of the keys is very difficult to see; poor choice, or lack of, contrasting colors. This laptop is not full HD. Maybe I missed that in the specs, but given the other attributes, ...it probably should have been included. It seems the only flares were the 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, and the Gen i7 chip, ....and I "think" it had an aluminum casing. I don't know if I will ever again seek an Asus product...a bad graphics card right out of the gate is a bit of a deal killer for me.

      Dear WTHisDisplayName,

We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused.

The laptop was not advertised having a full HD display, it has a 1600 x 900 resolution. In order to optimized display settings, please ensure Windows and video driver are up to date.

To have a better viewing or color contrast between the letters and keys, please have a well illuminated workplace, not to bright.

If you need further assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

Great laptop with a 1TB SSD for the price. If you are using it for work or home office this laptop is more computer than you can use. But if you are using it for intensive games this is not you computer.

This is a decent laptop. It has good power to handle most programs and light gaming. This was bought as a work computer. The only problem is the color of the keys. The keys are the same color as the computer. The letters/numbers on the keys are not contrasted enough so in some lighting, it can be hard to find the key you need. Otherwise, this is a good laptop.

Great "bang for your buck" laptop! The bootup speed is quick, it has all the ports I needed, and I like having the larger screen size. My only gripe is that it ships with Windows "S" mode enabled. It's easy to disable but on a laptop with specs like this one, they really should have started off with the full blown windows.

Great Laptop, Five stars for Hardware. Three starts for Software. A major downside is it has Windows 10 "S" That requires you to sign into a Microsoft account in order to do anything. For most people this is nothing, but for old techies that don't like our names and info broadcasted everywhere it's a problem.

It’s a great laptop for the price we paid for it on sale. The only thing is the color of the keys could of been darker. Depending on the lighting, the color of the letter on the keyboard are hard to read.

Great for handling multiple tabs (I usually have 14 open at a time lol) and large applications but the battery life is terrible. It lasts about 2-2.5 hours and then needs to be plugged in. Not ideal if your desk is far away from the wall.

Reliable but a little slow in response. Could use a faster processer. Ample storage and memory. Naturally works a little faster with ethernet connection but OK with wireless internet. Nice large screen size easy to read. Could use lighted keyboard. Hard to see characters on keyboard. Should be black instead of silver or grey.

ASUS Vivobook 17.3 in i7 16GB-1TB computer GREAT

ASUS Vivobook 17.3 inch laptop intel Core 10th Gen i7 16GB memory 1TB SSD Transparent Silver -- it is a great laptop computer. I love it. My only criticism is that it was difficult to see the letters on the keys because the keyboard is not backlit on the laptop computer that I have. But that was a solvable problem. I purchased "Keyboard Large Print Labels Black on Yellow Lower Case"--I purchased those from MaxiAids.com for $12.25. They are those little peel and stick letters...and I just stuck those on all the keys on the keyboard of my laptop computer and it makes it so much easier to know which key you're typing. Now I just love my ASUS vivobook 17.3 inch laptop computer.

I bought this computer to watch movies and multitask. So far, it's okay and works just fine. Be aware, they use promotional words i7 and 1TB to catch your attention, but skimped on other core elements such as screen resolution, speakers, camera, and battery life. True, this computer seems to work quickly, though all computers should function quickly. I'm able to play some online games easily, where another family member on a different computer can't. Despite the posted specs, there is a camera and I like the "off button" security option, but its quality in Zoom meetings is passable at best. Everything seems a little fuzzy, at least to me. (note- the camera didn't work at first until I updated its drivers) The sound, as others have said, is there, but for practical purposes, it's like it is almost non-existent. I have to have it at 100% and use an external speaker most of the time, especially for movies/tv, listening to podcasts or presentations and gaming. While the extended keyboard is good, I have tried to become accustomed to typing without always seeing the key's letters. The battery life is maybe three hours and the power cord is shortish, and the plug, large and bulky. I have learned that the screen resolution, while HD, is among the lowest version available on the market. It's fine as long as you are not looking for the newer cutting-edge HD high resolution. The computer is light, and does not overheat too much on the bottom. At first, it also had a bit of a loud fan sound. It looks like Asus sought to build a computer for a particular price point with gimmick selling point features, and this was the result. Best Buy didn't tell me these limitations when they promoted it during a sale. To me, a computer should just work, and one should not have to constantly adjust to its shortcomings. I would score this computer higher but struggling with the poor sound, trying to find keys, and the battery life are just basics that they missed. Overall, this computer is an okay computer and works just fine if you are willing to put up with the drawbacks.

I purchased this laptop because my other was so old and beginning to not play nicely with me. :-) I'm ok with the vivobook...I don't use my computer for business...simply for communication and some purchasing, some video-watching. I don't care for the screen...I have to fuss with it to get "exactly" the correct position for a clear screen, it's not a touch screen (I'm spoiled, I realize it). it's really a bit low-end compared to my other one, which was one a really good sale when I bought it. This one was around $700, and that was almost too much for me.
