Good mesh system if you can utilize wired backhaul

This is a pretty good wireless mesh solution if you are able to utilize a wired/ethernet backhaul. I have a fairly new home with network cabling in most rooms. This allowed me to connect each trio device to the main device via a wired connection. Don't make the same mistake I did when updating the firmware. I updated the firmware on just the first device, and then the other two devices wouldn't connect because they were on different firmware versions. Again, the software should prevent this from happening. Otherwise, they have remained connected to each other without any problems. My only gripe with these devices is the need to reboot each device separately as updates are made to the main device. This should be an automatic process within the GUI.

Added 2 of them to my Blue Cave router to make a aimesh. And used one as a regular router for a smaller home.

    Easy set up

I bought this to replace a TP Link Deco system that I bought to replace an Apple system, but was having issues with it so returned it and got the ASUS system. The ASUS system is very easy to set up, even for someone unfamiliar with networks (I'm a retired IT person, but anyone could set this up without difficulty). With my old Apple system, I was running 3 routers over 2 different networks. The ASUS mesh system allows you to set up a single network and it will connect to various routers if you move through your house. The 3 units cover my entire house (around 3,000 sq ft) and while I get very good speed when connected via ethernet, I still get acceptable speeds on wireless devices. I have Xfinity as my internet provider and I'm supposed to get 150mbps down and 5 up, but when connected with ethernet, I get over 170mbps down and about 12 up. My wireless connections fluctuate quite a bit depending on my location within the house, but I usually get over 30mbps down and around 10 up. This is fast enough to run all of my devices without losing connections. ASUS recently added these routers to the list of acceptable AI Mesh routers. This would be great if you have someone playing a lot of games on your system where you need a very fast router. The only problem with using it in an AI Mesh system, is that you lose your ability to set all the routers up for a "guest" network. In an AI Mesh configuration, only your main routers supports a guest network, whereas, if you set it up with just the 3 units, they can all be used on a "guest" network. I currently have my system set up with a "guest" network to allow my neighbor to hook up to the internet (She's non-technical and rarely uses it). The system works fine as is, but I think I may add a faster router and go to AI Mesh when they solve the "guest" network issue.
