      Dear Rudy,

I do understand your disappointment and inconvenience if you are experiencing slow issues with the laptop. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance, and the screen may be unresponsive. The audio is a surround sound stereo system, however, for better listening pleasure, we recommend using a headset or external speaker systems. The webcam was designed for basic video-conferencing. The display resolution is 4K, please make sure the most current video driver was installed. In order to improve or prolong the battery charged time, please try to do a battery calibration manually. To start with, please drain it completely then charge it fully without using the system. Once fully-charged, please use the system, without the AC adapter connected, and drain it completely again. Please repeat the charging process thereafter. Also, please verify if the unit is running with the most current system update and third-party battery draining applications are not running if not in used. If you need further assistance, please email me at [email protected] and I would be happy to help.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

I don't understand the reason for companies to inflate the hours their laptops last. Only searching on internet and doing general stuffs the battery life was around 3 hours. When i use the touchpad and I press the letters "O" or "P" there is a feeling of static and a weird sound related. I decided to returned and try another laptop.

A Worthy Replacement For My UX501

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got a lot of miles out of my first Zenbook Pro. Literally. I probably put 300k+ air miles on it, hauling it around on weekly business trips in a sturdy laptop bag with my tools. I had no complaints. It was a reliable and durable travel companion that never let me down until very recently, when I wore-out the M, C, V, X, apostrophe and period keys on the keyboard. I knew it was only a matter of time considering I spend up to six hours of my workday composing reports and developing learning materials. And then there's the gaming. I do a little of that too. Not much but, it's a pleasant distraction after a long day and having a laptop that could stand-up to both uses and not stand-out in the same ostentatious way that most gaming laptops do were important considerations for work. The Zenbook Pro looks totally professional and I'm never self-conscious about taking out in front of a client. Asus laptops have always blown me away with their graphic performance and the UX580GD does not disappoint. It has one of the best 4k displays I've ever seen and streaming 4k content is nothing less than breathtaking. It's really what sets Asus apart and the reason that I, personally, have stuck with Asus thru the years. I'm spoiled. I know their quirks and shortcomings. I know going-in that any device as thin, lightweight and packing this much horsepower is going to make some audible fan noise when you try to game on it but, I do not find it as unbearably loud and obnoxious as other reviewers have reported. I run World Of Tanks on Medium graphics and consistently get 55-60fps with only minimal fan noise and moderate heat build-up. Compared to my UX501 (which still works fine, I just didn't want to spend $500 to replace the keyboard) the UX580GD is significantly cooler and quieter using the same graphic settings and resolution as a basis for comparison. I'm not sure what other users were expecting but, I think it's a real improvement over my previous Zenbook. Although I'm still trying to figure-out how and when I'm going to use it, the screenpad is an interesting feature that I hope Asus will develop further. It's what really makes this laptop unique, yet, it wasn't a big selling-point for me. I just wanted another Zenbook Pro and this one really satisfies. If you're an Asus fan, the UX580GD is a great choice, especially if you're upgrading from a previous generation. I consider it a logical progression of the Zenbook Pro line. If you're new to Asus or had less-than-stellar previous experience with an Asus-product, I don't know if it'll win you over completely but for now, this owner is beyond impressed.

      Dear David,

Indeed, the laptop is a cool product. I do understand your concern about the thermal issues or the CPU is overheating. It is normal for the CPU to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load like video rendering or editing. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and the CPU will withstand this momentary excessive heat generation. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down. Please make sure the air ventilation are dirt-free and obstruction- free in order to dissipate heat efficiently. Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

A Fabulous Laptop;Speed with Great Graphics

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this laptop for business as an upgrade to an older HP with an i7 Intel processor, and I have to say it is a fabulous machine! I chose it over the Asus 2-in-1 with comparable specs and I am glad I did. The 4K display looks clear, crisp, and the colors really stand out. The machine is extremely fast, and boots to Windows 10 in less than 15 seconds. The touch screen is awesome and responsive, and the laptop also works with the Bamboo Ink pointer I purchased, to make the touch screen even better. I haven't had any of the fan issues mentioned in some of the other reviews. Like any laptop, the fans do kick on occasionally, but they do not make any loud noises. To me, the fan noise is hardly noticeable (my older laptop was much, much louder). The ScreenPad is a sweet, surprising addition, and I do find myself using it quite often. I installed Office 2016 on my laptop, and the ScreenPad includes cool features in the Office products that help make formatting a breeze. I do not have to grab the mouse to format data and text, I can just use the buttons on the ScreenPad. I have found this to be a big time saver when working with the Office products. I am not sure, but I assume the same buttons appear when using Office 365 or any other version of Microsoft Office on the laptop. There's even a way to customize the ScreenPad with Office, but to date, I have not explored those yet. If you are looking for a speedy laptop with fabulous display graphics (The 4k Touchscreen and a separate video card instead of onboard graphics really make a huge difference), this is the one for you!

Good monitor but many other issues with it

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After owning and using this device daily, for a while now, I will give my honest opinion. I will start with the good stuff: 1. The monitor is extremely good (4K), very bright with excellent colors. Also, there are many levels of adjustable monitor brightness 2. The keyboard is actually very comfortable (personal preference) 3. SATA drive is good 4. Good build quality 5. Fan sound is very acceptable 6. 16GB of RAM is enough, at least for me The bad things now: 1. The laptop has a coil whine sound. Unfortunately, it appeared after the return policy of BestBuy otherwise I would have returned it. And there is no way to fix this issue!!! 2. The bezels of the monitor could have been smaller for 2018/2019 laptop 3. I think that even the i7 model would deserve a PCIe drive and a 1050Ti GPU (minimum) 4. Battery life is just low/average with normal use 5. The trackpad is very functional but sometimes the scrolling function stops and the only way to fix it is to restart the device 6. Sound is not very good because of the position they are located I assume 7. After shutting down the laptop you have to adjust the keyboard’s lighting every time you start Windows again 8. Somehow, there is no way to prevent the wireless mouse from waking up the laptop, even after adjusting the settings. The same wireless mouse works fine on another laptop…… 9. I am sure the next one could be a Windows problem, but I have never experienced something like that on another device. The top or bottom part of applications like Word or Chrome suddenly they become black and not visible and the only way to fix this is again to restart the device. The last issue has also to do with Geek Squad so if you don’t want to read it just skip this part 10. One day while I was working the laptop shut down on its one and it would not turn on. That happened while the device was plugged into the power supply. There was no light indicator on, and the laptop had no life. I immediately called ASUS and after they guided me to perform a hard reset on the laptop but that did not fix the issue. They advised me to bring it to BestBuy so they can ship it and repair it. The Geek Squad member told me that it will take UP to 15 days (for me this is absolutely unacceptable for 2019 but there was not another option). Long story short, they returned the laptop to me after ONE month and they said that it was the battery. They also claimed two things, first that the battery was not in stock which it was according to the phone call from the lady at the repair facility and the online status repair system. Second, they said that usually it takes that long for a repair like this, and they usually are faster than going through ASUS directly. Now if ASUS wants to have a partnership with BestBuy and their customers receive that kind of service maybe they have to rethink it. Overall, I would not recommend BestBuy as a buying from option after that repair incident anyways. I have owned monitors, phones, motherboards and other devices from ASUS but I don’t think I will go with another laptop from them especially with that bad customer support As far as ASUS goes you can find a better device equally powerful with less money.
