    Phenomenal!

A few years ago, I bought a $600 laptop with an I7 processor from one of the tv shopping channels. I was bulky and slow. I never cared for it. Fast-forward to three weeks ago. I was at my friends house working on a project with my old laptop. I really was frustrated because of how inefficient it was running. I left his house and went to Best Buy to look at the laptops. I saw this laptop and immediately wanted it. i wanted something with 16gb ram and a dedicated graphics card. I bought the last unit and took it home. Within an hour, I was up and running. I am shocked how fast this computer boots up. It actually boots up faster than my ipad Air 2!! As someone else mentioned, the touchpad is actually usable although I still prefer to use an external mouse. There is nothing about this computer that I would change. I love it!

Good for Desktop Replacement. Price can be cheaper without the 4k screen and screened. Pro: -Very powerful laptop. I am still using it with my MacBook. -Beautiful screen. -Great Speakers. Cons: -Battery only lasts for 2-3 hours. -Cannot charge with USB-C port and power adapter is too big to carry. -Personally 4K screen show more info on the screen, but it's uncomfortable to view for long time. -USB Card reader doesn't work with 512GB card. -Screenpad is good idea, but it's not practical. It hurts your neck, and it too small.

Great Specs, But Has Fan Noise Problem

PROS: * The specs of this laptop are pretty amazing. * The color accuracy is very on point, and as a photo editor that was one aspect I was looking for in a new laptop. * The laptop runs Adobe Photoshop smoothly. * The audio/sound system is also notable, and in my opinion beats the Dell XPS 15 in this matter. * The laptop is on the lighter side (4 lbs), which allows for more portability. * I use the ScreenPad function occasionally if I want to use the NumKey for number input or if I am using Spotify for music. As for functionality of this feature, it's not super essential for me at the moment. * The bottom of the laptop doesn't get hot, which is nice. CONS: * The material of the laptop really attracts fingerprints. I had to get a laptop cover for mine. It is VERY hard to find laptop covers or skins for this particular laptop model. * The webcam is really bad quality. I don't understand why ASUS decided to cheap out on this when this laptop is supposed to be geared toward content creators and it's price tag is pretty expensive. I personally don't use the webcam much, and it's not a deal breaker for me, but it's worth mentioning. * For the touch pad, sometimes if I don't switch to the "Traditional Touchpad Mode" and keep it in "ScreenPad Mode" and I'm trying to scroll downward on the touchpad from the top end, I accidentally end up triggering the ScreenPad menu options instead of moving the mouse on the screen. This can get annoying. * Sometimes when I am watching videos, the laptop slows the videos down so much that they are shown playing in slow-mo, and there is no audio. * The laptop's fan makes clicking and high-pitched sounds. It sometimes sounds like a clock ticking and drives me crazy. I have already contacted ASUS Customer Support and tried various methods to fix the issue without opening up the bottom of the laptop to physically fix the hardware. I just bought this laptop less than 2 weeks ago, so it's relatively new. It should not have this fan problem. The problem started on the first day I received the laptop and has been consistent. Needless to say, I could not fix the problem and unfortunately will be returning it. If you're someone who really knows computers and how to build them (or knows someone who does), this might be an easy issue to fix, but for me personally, I do not want to risk breaking an almost $2000 laptop. I'm sad to say that I will be returning this laptop, mostly because of the hardware and software issues. The laptop's fan problem may cause other bigger problems in the future, and I do not want to risk that. I also want to note that ASUS Customer Service assured me that this fan issue was not consistent or normal in the ASUS Zenbook Pro 15 UX580GD laptops, but this is the second device I have gotten of the same model (meaning I have tried out 2 ASUS Zenboook Pro 15 notebooks in the past 2 weeks or so) and the fan noise problem persisted in the 2nd device I had received. This might just be me and I happened to accidentally receive 2 defective devices, but that doesn't seem like much of a coincidence. Buy at your own risk.

    Battery life

    Great Speed, some flaws

The speed on laptop is great but on a upper lever laptop like this that claims to have 9.5 hours battery life you would expect to get close. I'm averaging about 3.5 hours per 100% charge that's with 50% brightness and some features turned off battery saver turned on. The pad does take awhile to get used to it is not as responsive as one would hope. I wish there was a way to move the pull down menu so you don't accidentally hit it. Full size SD card slot would be nice but has usb 3.1 and firwire ports that is nice alongside the full-size HDMI. It does throttle a bit running all cores something to keep in mind. If your looking for battery life stay away from this if your looking for a plug in computer with a lot of power this is a great option.

Nice Laptop uses a lot of power

This laptop charger is rated at 110 volts at 2.2 amp that is 240 watts. To charge this in a car you would need a 300 watt inverter to run this, and the inverter would have to be hooked directly to the battery. If you are in a motorhome with a large inverter it would be fine but attempting to charge it from the car would be difficult. I planned to use this on the road so it would not work for me. It is a very nice laptop just be aware of the power requirements.
