The lack of app-to-SD functionality is a recurring concern among some customers.

First things first, I don't use phones or tablets for gaming. I haven't tried nor do I care to know if its ability to handle games. Moving on, Nexus 7 was my first tablet and I loved it. I purchased it just before the 2013 model was released and it lasted me a couple of years before becoming outdated for simple tasks like web browsing. It was capable of browsing but lacked the speed it once hand and sometimes it was faster to go to my computer and fire it up if I was in a rush. However, I continued to use it as an e-reader until the time of purchasing this tablet (total of 5 years of loyal service).
Asus impressed me with the cheap but quality of the Nexus 7, and there are countless reviews online agreeing with me, and I was encouraged to try another low budget Asus again. So far it had not disappointed me. It looks sexy, speeds through the internet, provides a some useful preinstalled apps for productivity, and the battery lasts a surprisingly long time (sorry that I don't have quantitative information for this statement. I know I can in one sitting do light web browsing, downloading, and heavy reading for at least fours hours and be around 70% battery life with screen brightness is at two-thirds. I couldn't say that about my Nexus 7.)
I have only two significant complaints. First, the low memory storage. I purchased a 32 gb memory card with this and that is surving me fine with the exception of my Google Books. Far as I am aware, all apps are saved on the device and those books are considered an app. I prefer to keep my reading material save to my tablet so that I can access them anywhere. Unfortunately, my 6 gb of books take too much of the free 10 gb of the 16 gb storage. However, I am able to make use of the external storage by saving all of lectures and PowerPoint from school. Second, this tablet lacks accessory options. That is not surprising considering the balance of power in the tablet market but I am slightly disappointed in my options for an ultra slim protective case. I don't abuse my electronics and I only desire low profile accessories but all that is available are bulky ones.
I use this for school and I am not disappointed! I have yet to use the tablet as a writing pad. Once I purchase a stylist I will reconsider returning to this review and giving an additional comment. I am sure there are more productive tablets out there but for $120 I have absolutely no complaints. I personally see spending $300-500 on a tablet a waste of money.

Not much to say other than this tablet was worth every penny after returning my Amazon Fire HD 8 and investing only a few more bucks for the Zenpad. HUGE improvement, and this thing has 2GB memory so it hasn't let me down as far as handling basic tasks very fast. I don't do a lot of heavy gaming, but I've watched videos and haven't seen any issues with handling that. If you're a heavy gamer you might want to look at something more geared specifically for that, but for basic stuff this ASUS is a winner, and not expensive. One of the things I like is that ASUS obviously put some thought into this tablet, it is very intuitive as far as knowing what is needed for it to run smoothly. Things I was expecting to find as standard features in the Fire HD and couldn't find or fell sadly short, I found to be all there and well thought out in the ASUS. I don't know what your expectations are, but I expected a lot from a company that builds PCs, and I wasn't disappointed, I don't think you will be either.

The tablet that I wanted = Samsung Galaxy Pro= $875 range. The tablet I could afford?Either a Samsung Galaxy Tab A that was refurbished or the Asus ZenPad that was new. I went with Asus because it had more storage, great reviews, cheaper, new and more ram. The only downside to this tablet is I can't find any SD card slot? I was not aware that this tablet did not offer expandable storage. I will never use 16 gigs. It comes with plenty of Asus web storage as well as free Drive storage so not to concerned. Its got pretty quick response time. Not to much lag. The touch works seamlessly. I really have no complaints. Perfect size, really nice feel and quality build at under $125, you can not beat that! :-) P.S. Read thru reviews and judge for yourself!

This is my first tablet. I wanted something affordable, yet of high quality. I read lots of reviews on different models. I weighed the options of cellular plans versus cheaper wifi capability only. This one fit the bill on reviews and the tips on what gigs and ram (still confused on those, but I know they are very important) in this unit made it stand out. I wanted to be sure I could add an SD card for memory, which this does have. I also found out from my son that because we have a certain Verizon plan I can use a "tether" wifi feature that lets me use our cell phone data plan for my wifi on the tablet and I can have internet wherever I go without us adding the tablet to our cell service contract (he explained that most plans don't have this ability, but we do). Awesome! So, even though it isn't a phone, I have internet access, so that's awesome for the price of my little tablet! ASUS seems to be one of the top brands for tablets as well. I have used it to play games and e-mail so far, some internet stuff and a movie and u-tube. All played well and the sound was pretty okay with me being close to the tablet. Haven't tested from a further distance as of yet. Tried the camera in my apartment and that was a disaster, all grainy and just didn't work at all. However, was out in a daylight restaurant with friends and it took great pictures. A little washed out on the edge where the light came in the window, but otherwise crisp and sharp colors. The screen is awesome, colors on the screen are sharp, clear and vibrant. Love that! The games run very smoothly, but I don't play anything fancy. Suits my needs so far and I wanted it in order to learn a new operating system (yeah, android tablet is a new experience for me). My phone is android, but it just isn't the same and I don't do that much with the phone, it's too small. So, for a 64 year old lady wanting a new toy and a new technology to learn, I am very happy. The only thing I would want different is more sideways compatibility of the free standard programs like open office, ect. Android apps seem to be just packed full of ads of all kinds which are very annoying and you have to pay to get ad-free versions. I also am not that sure about how side-ways your documents would work between a windows product and the android platform. Guess that's one of the tech things I will learn with time.

I compared all of the low to medium priced tablets and found two big advantages to the Asus Zen tab... it has a Gorilla glass surface so less likely to scratch or crack and it has 2gb of operating memory. Everyone else has 1 or 1.5. It runs very smoothly and quickly. I've had it over a month now and still very pleased.

This is my first tablet and I have to say I'm very pleased with my purchase. Sleek design, good spec's, snappy response, and beautiful display. I wish the cameras were a bit better, but I'm being nit-picky there.
There's quite a bit of bloatware on this tablet and 16gb starts to fill up quickly. So minus one star for the un-removable bloatware.

Great tablet for the price. Love the look and feel of the tablet. The response time of the tablet is great. One disadvantage is that you cannot run apps from the SD card. You have about 12 GB of space when you first open the box. The SD card slot is essentially only for for storing music, books, photos etc. If you plan on playing a lot of games or using a lot of apps on this tablet, keep in mind you only have so much space. This is a major bummer. What is the sense of having that SD card slot, if you cannot expand your total storage capacity.

This tablet is a great buy. 2gb ram makes it run smooth and snappy. The screen looks great! The speaker nice and loud. 16gb of memory makes ample space. con: is it's heavy in the hand

You do the research and compare to others, this is a great value tablet. This does a lot more than most of the competition. Again, ASUS pays attention to what they put into their products. You pay a little more, but they usually blow away their competition in every category, this is no exception. I bought this after a frustrating month on the phone with Amazon for a Fire tablet I originally bought. It was like I died and went to Heaven. Amazon tablet does not even come remotely close to this ASUS tablet. This is a solid value hands down. Recommend.

I returned a Kindle Fire HD 8 for the Asus ZenPad 8, glad I did! This tablet runs smoothly, good construction, closest to pure Android tablet I could find for this price. In case you are wondering, YES it will upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat. Be careful though, there is a ZenPad 8 with only 1 GB of RAM, this tablet has 2 GB of RAM, the extra GB makes a big difference! Get 2GB of RAM! Very happy with this device :)

I carefully researched numerous Android tablets including Samsung, Fire, and Nook. While not the cheapest, a few features made the Asus stand out from the crowd. The 2gb operating system memory makes it faster and better able to take future updates. The Gorilla glass screen will keep the tablet easier to see.

Replaced an old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 with this tablet. Got tired of apps not working with android OS 4.2 . This unit ships with OS 5.0, and updated to OS 6.0 when started. Then updated to OS 7.0 two weeks ago. Unit is more than fast enough for all the apps that I use. Yet another ASUS product that did more than I expected.

My old tablet just wasn't working properly and I knew it was time for another. Not going to buy the high $$ tablets. I have no reason to. I found this one for $127. Read the reviews and they were good. This tablet does everything I need and more. And does it quickly. A good value for a good price and I would absolutely buy again!

Had to replace my kindle fire after 1 year. The replacement screen costs more then I paid for it. After much research I selected the ASUS Zen pad 8.0. It came loaded with Android Marshmallow OS and exceeds my expectations. A great buy, great price and it's performance is second to none.

Great looking screen, easy set up, all that Android has to offer. Bought this for my wife to get her off of an aging Kindle device and we're really happy with it. No more web browser issues because Chrome is so much better than Amazon Silk. Great price too, so we're really happy with it.
