Excellent Entry-Level Watch

For those looking for an inexpensive introduction to smartwatches, this is a perfect choice. Don't let the budget-level price fool you - it does exactly what a smartwatch should do. I get reminders & notifications (calendar & apps), remotely control phone calls, compose or reply to texts via voice or key, monitor my physical activity, and more. For me, the most important point was battery life. I am happy to report that it can go 3+ days without charging (I turn it off at night). I create custom watch faces as well, which is great. Even for tech-challenged individuals, it's easy to use. I wanted to purchase a smartwatch with full features that would get through the day and wouldn't break the bank. The value makes it very usable (I don't have to worry about damaging a $500 piece of tech). Bought one for my wife too, and she loves it. Don't forget the screen protector if you purchase one.

The watch is awesome for the price. You cant really compare it to the Fossil watch as they aren't a actual watch company. But it is definitely a nice and sleek design. Got mine with a brown leather strap. I would highly recommend this product as most smartwatches are on the Google Wear platform. Asus built in apps are surprisingly good. Get a lot of compliments on this watch as well.

This is my first smartwatch purchase. The Asus Zenwatch2 is very easy to setup and use. There are several apps you can install to meet your needs. You can easily send and receive texts and phone calls as well as emails.

I am surrounded by everything Apple. I have even purchased an Apple Watch (twice) and have returned them. I bought this watch knowing it wasn't 100% compatible with my iPhone. This watch is so darn pretty and looks even better on me! I find myself asking folks "You looking at me!!" when I see them staring at my wrist. They always ask "Is that an Apple watch" and I say "Heck NO!! Been there done that!". I love being able to read my emails, get calendar notifications, text messages, and alerts when I've been sitting too long (to name a few things that makes this watch just right). I love how easy it was to switch out the bands. I was able to purchase a standard elastic watch band which worked with this watch like a charm. This watch charges pretty fast so I can sleep with it on (for sleep tracking) and can have it fully charged by the time I'm out the shower and off to work.

Very nice watch, one MAJOR caveat

Very nice watch. Excellent features, and fantastic price compared to competitors. Easily the best value among smartwatches today. However, there is one very serious negative. This watch uses AMOLED technology for the screen. One thing that can happen with these screens is that images that stay on the screen for a long time can "burn in" the screen, so that the image is "ghosted" on there forever. Some watchfaces (in particular" the "Glance" watchface, will burn this in within a matter of days (as you can see in the accompanying photo). Look at the demo watch in the store....every one I have seen has a serious burn-in issue. I returned my first watch and got a second one (as I consider this a manufacturing defect), and am making sure to change watchfaces every day or so, and nor leaving it on "ambient" mode at night. Even if it burns in, you'll save enough to buy the Zenwatch 3 in a year, but this really should not be happening in 2016.

I came from a Samsung Galaxy Gear Smart Watch and I will not go back!!! This is true android wear! I can download all kind of apps from the play store where with my Samsung watch only Samsung apps could be used. I'm not here to bash Samsung or anything I still use their phones but when selecting a watch this would have been great to know. This watch really charges like lighting fast and last throughout the day and night. It has so many options for customization and is the perfect size! I've been told it's big but I'm a 5ft 145lb woman so... I can text on it, haven't tried to talk on it although I have used voice to compose text. Bottom line this is a steal!! I love the look with the leather band, which is stiff, but I would choose it again!

I've been in the market for a smartwatch for about a year now. I've reviewed countless watches. Something kept leaning me back towards the ASUS ZenWatch 2. Maybe it was the functionality/features were about the same as the more expensive watches. Battery life is a nice treat I usually get about 2 1/2 days of battery life with average notifications. I like the speaker to answer calls when my phone isn't in reach. I have not experience bluetooth disconnecting issues as others have mentioned. A new major Android update is due out this fall and I can't wait to see how it makes my watch even more amazing. In closing, why should you purchase the ASUS ZenWatch 2? Because the inside specs (processor, memory, Android software verison) are all the same from the ASUS to TAG Heuer smartwatches. Some watches are round-faced and some are square-ish in shape. The name and the company's consumer segment target will dictate the price.

This watch is great for what it supposed to do, which is notifications. I can answer calls and speak through the watch as well. Also, it does include a heart rate monitor, I guess to keep the costs low. It's not a deal breaker, since I don't need it. I highly recommend getting a geek squad warranty. I accidentally submerged mine in saltwater, forgetting I had it on. It caused the touch screen to stop functioning. Overall great and reliable smartwatch.

I love my ASUS ZEN Watch 2. It does everything I need it to do: notifications, alarm, timer, interaction with my phone, among other things. Too many to mention. I almost feel like Dick Tracy, talking to my watch. The volume isn't loud but adequate. The screen is easy for me to read without my glasses. If you don't want to spend a lot for a smart watch, the ASUS should be on your radar.

The specs and basic hardware are exactly the same across the board for Android Wear. That being said, you are getting the same experience for much less with this awesome smartwatch. I do recommend placing a screen guard over the watch face to prevent scratches a chips if you should drop it on rough terrain. The watch faces are awesome and have widgets that can be added. I receive around 1.5 to 2 days from a full charge with moderate use, WiFi off and the always on screen setting off. With WiFi and the always on screen setting, battery life is around 24-27 hours. I opened development options to select and change a few settings which have helped with battery life. I upgraded the band to a black stainless steel band which are around $11 or less on Amazon or Ebay. I would recommend this watch over my previous which was a Samsung watch of which was replaced with two refurbished defective warranty replacements which is why I ended up purchasing this watch.
I did not care about the lack of a heart rate monitor because they are not accurate and are more of a sells gimmick than anything else. My Gear 2 Neo had a heart rate sensor which was a joke and battery drain. My phone has a heart rate sensor built-in. I love how the watch can be used for phone calls as well as playing music right on the watch through the built-in speaker.

Read the reviews before purchasing, so thank you to all who post honest real-world reviews! I upgraded from the first Pebble Watch and mostly glad I did. The watch is larger than I thought, once I started wearing it. Less large than others, for sure, but not quite as slim as my Pebble. I wondered what it would be like to go from always having my watch face always on and available (Pebble) to having the face show up when I twist my wrist (or touch the watch face) and to be honest, I miss it. I knew it going in, but still miss it. Not to say that the watch doesn't display info. Depending on the watch face you've chosen, you will still see info displayed, it just isn't the really detailed, beautiful version you see once you touch the watch face.
Having said that, OK Google works well, as do the apps available. I can't compare it to the iWatch, but I do like the availability of apps and they seem to mostly function really well. The watch does also work with IOS, but is truly limited, so I would recommend this watch for Android phone users, definitely. Not so much iPhone users.
The price is what rocks for this watch, so it's got my vote for Android phone users!

Beautiful watch! Attracts attention. Battery last 2 full days with average use. Make and receive calls from your wrist. Respond and send text messages with your voice. Receives notifications and turn by turn navigation. Great watch! Would give 5 stars if it had a heart rate monitor.

I purchased this watch because of the price and that it was compatible with the IPhone. After the recent update I am more than happy with my purchase. The only downside is that you can't text back and when answering a call your phone has to be used to answer.

Love this watch: this Zenwatch has it all, water-resistance, decent battery life, a speaker, microphone, it's light weight. Some may find the screen too big for their wrists, but I like it. I just bought a magnetic gold watch band to use with it and viola! : I can go swimming with it and shower with it on if needed. I only take it off my wrist to charge it-with my usage,I have to charge it every 2 days on average. What a steal for the price !

I bought this watch as a replacement for my first gen Android Wear watch the Samsung Gear Live. The Zen Watch 2 is a perfect replacement for me after the Samsung since I have a growing collection of 22mm watch bands that I've purchased. The battery life is 3x longer than the Samsung, the body of the watch is sleeker and more streamlined and the overall design is more elegant. The ZenWatch Manager app and watch faces from Asus offer a lot more options and have a more polished deign. Great smart watch for the price!

At about a third of the cost of my LG Watch Urbane, this is an outstanding value. I bought it because my LG watch malfunctioned. I didn't realize until after I bought it that the ASUS even has a built in speaker. I can accept and make calls all from the watch, over Bluetooth, with my phone in my pocket. Smart watches costing several times more can't even do that. At present, it is my understading that the only other (non Apple) watch that has a built in speaker is the Huawei, at 3X the cost of the ASUS.

PROS:
- Runs Android Wear fluidly
- 2 day battery life (even with ambient screen on)
- Vibrant OLED display
- Standard 22mm watch bands
CONS:
- Proprietary charging cable. Make sure not to lose it!
- Screen can be hard to read in direct sunlight
OTHER THOUGHTS:
I came from a first gen Moto 360, and this was a noticeable upgrade in performance.
Even though this unit has a speaker, I haven't been able to figure out how to use it to make/receive calls directly on the watch.

I like this watch. The price is right, I didn't want to pay $300 for a Smart Watch. It's easy to setup and with the addition of some of the free apps available you can customize it easily. The voice quality for phone calls is very good. I like being able to control my phone via my watch since I can't always have my phone with me at work.

The sales person at the Southaven location was AWESOME. He really tried helping me! I know I was in there for 3 hours. This watch is a good deal for the price. I bought me and my daughter one and we both love them! Glad I made the decision to purchase it. It syncs majority of your apps for Android! But only does a few for iphone, and my daughter isn't to happy about that, but she'll live! Oh and you can talk on it!
