I have been using this product for almost 1 month and I found it very nice and useful. It has good range, low noise, and cool features. I had not encountered the problems other reviewers had written about.
The base telephone has speaker. The handsets don't. That's the only thing I miss from my previous phone. Anyway, I would recommend this bundle.

The cordless headsets are very clear without static. The distance is good. The volume controls are easy to use. Buttons are big enough to read. Very user friendly. I've purchased several Cordless phones in the past couple of years and have been very disappointed. This phone is awesome.

This is the worst phone I ever purchased, a huge waste of money. After a few months the one handset stopped working, when I try to use it it states that the other handset is on but it is not. Also the display screen on the main unit stopped working and there is terrible static on the smaller units. Another annoying thing is when somebody calls me the area code is displayed even if it is in my area and then I can not redial this number because it will dial the area code first, I have to actually write the number down and then dial.
Will never buy again, I thought if I paid more I would get a better phone but no.

I have had no challenge with this set. Granted, I don't use the answering machine, but the other features fit what I needed when I purchased it. I have no challenge with static or 'noises' while wandering my wi-fi house. The cordless works fine even when on another floor/side of the house. I'm not sure where the other reviewers got their challenges from, but I have absolutely no complaints about this phone.

I bought this phone for the corded handset and speakerphone/mute features on the main unit. We do not use the cordless handsets very often but they seem to function ok and unlike some of the other reviews callers do not have a problem hearing us.
The main problem is that there are so few corded units available that getting a corded phone and handsets with updated features is almost impossible.

It does redial long distance....

For the reviewer who states" Also, does not redial long distance numbers because it does not have a 1 in front of number." I also discovered that this was an issue ith my phone, but I called AT&T and asked if this feature was available, and it is... you just need to press the pound (#) button and it will add the 1 in front of the number... and then you display dial as normal.
I've had my system for a year... and have none of the problems that the other reviewers have mentioned. I've actually bought this for my folks for Xmas this year.

Horrible Phone!

We decided to buy this phone after reading positive reviews on consumers reports about AT&T phones in general, but this one is really horrible.
We bought it to replace our 8-year-old GE phone that was dying, and had a hard time finding any phones that had both a corded and cordless ones.
We finally found this one, and purchased it.
It came, and looks nice, but it is an incredibly dumb phone; rather hard to set up (we're both tech savvy & have always been able to program our VCRs) and is just lacking in many basic useful features that were found on an inexpensive phone--*eight* years ago!!
Here is a list of things that this phone doesn't have:
* no call length display on handsets -- why on earth not?!?
* no Answer Machine / VM access from handsets -- why on earth not?!?
* no MUTE button on handsets -- for God's sake, WHY NOT?!?
* can't adjust ringer volume on handsets!
* can't listen to both new and old messages at once!
There are many other problems we've found with the phone too:
* volume on handsets is too quiet -- it is frequently inaudible.
* buttons on base unit are hard to read and laid out in a random fashion
* configuring the handsets is not at all friendly.
* voice on the base unit is harsh and unfriendly.
* calls are sometimes just corrupted (lots of noise/static on line)
I could go on and on, but, I won't, I'll just say: avoid this phone!

Not what was expected

I am a bit disappointed with this phone. When away from the base, it cuts out....and you lose conversation. At first I thought it was not fully holding a charge because even when a few feet from the base, you lose conversation.
The answering machine is iffy too. Sometimes it answers, and sometimes it doesn't and rings and rings.
I am very disappointed in this product.

I have to return this phone because I have had so many complaints from anyone calling me because they cannot hear or understand me me whenever I use the cordless handsets.

Bought this phone due to lack of outlets in new residence. Phone is light weight and able to maneuver freely without henderence. Answering machine and handsets easy to use with disabilities such as blindness.

I researched this phone and found it or a similar item to be rated by Consumer Reports as a best buy. I was careful to purchase a 5.8 gHz with multiple channels so it would work in our digital environment (wireless network, DSL line, etc.). However, the cordless handsets have annoying static as well as "in space" and "war movie radio" type singing sounds. The sounds are present no matter which channel is selected or where the base is set.

I have been very disappointed with this phone system. The sound quality is terrible. The sound fades in and out when using the speaker from the base. There is a great deal of static on the cordless sets when more than a few feet from the corded base. In fact, I have to be in the same room as the corded base to get good sound on the cordless phones. This defeats the purpose of having cordless phones for mobility.

Not really any problems with the phone just that handsets need to be re-designed for optimum usage. No volume or ringer off function...

This phone has what you need. I wouldn't be writing such a review if I hadn't read the existing reviews on this phone - I went out and bought it basically because I liked the price, and think that it's pretty much well worth the money. AT&T is a good brand.
It does have volume control on the handsets. (for goodness sake).

Very disappointed in an AT&T product. Base phone sound and volume OK but remote phones it is difficult to hear person on line even when volume turned up.
Also, does not redial long distance numbers because it does not have a 1 in front of number.
Sorry I did not return.

Bought it after reviewing Consumer Reports, I use hearing aids so the clarity of the voice and volumne adjustment is important to me. This phone is very clear and easy to use. The speaker feature is really handy.
