Your basic phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good, simple to use, functional phone. That's all we were seeking. Cheapest option with least frills for emergency use only. Works well, good sound. The only caveat is that the first one we bought died within a few weeks of use, but it seems to have been a fluke, as its replacement hasn't experienced a single glitch. Seeking "your basic phone"? This is it.

It Is What It Is
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My dad is nearly 80 and just needed a basic phone to replace his broken earlier version of this model. It does a pretty good job at exactly what it is mainly supposed to do: make phone calls and text (yes he texts) and you can't beat the price.

Good for a very basic phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a need for a reliable, inexpensive phone to be used as a phone (make and receive calls). The Z222 meets that need. The user of this phone only uses it for calls. It is small. Fits in a pocket nicely but that means smaller screen, smaller buttons, etc. It is a basic phone so the functions and specs are limited but it is fine for what it is used for. It does have the mini SIM (2FF). This purchase was to replace a phone of same model. Battery life was decreasing; getting the phone on ad made a new phone as cheap as a new battery (and you get a new warranty with a new phone).

Great Cell Phone Option for Seniors
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great choice for my 80 year old mother. She can't operate a smart phone and has hearing difficulties. This phone is perfect for her. She can adjust the volume as high as she needs and there are buttons and it's very uncomplicated. The price was more than right as well. It was a great find.

Good basic cell phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had an old 2G cell phone that I was happy with but needed to replace since AT&T is phasing out that network. So I bought this phone. I like it even better than my 2G phone. It has Blue-tooth so I could pair it hands-free with my car's blue-tooth. Reception's much better. It has a camera and I can text pictures now. The screen is crisp and clear, the notification sounds are more audible and pleasant. I highly recommend this phone for someone who does not want a smart phone but still wants some features. Only drawback compared to my old phone is it needs charging more frequently (old phone could go three days on a charge). One other note is the SIM card from my old phone would not work on this phone, but no problem, AT&T store supplied me with an upgraded SIM card.

Last of a dying breed of phones.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This very simple phone was selected exclusively due to its simplicity. The low cost is a bonus. The menus could be a bit easier for an elderly person, which is who uses this phone. Yet, realistically this is the last of a dying breed of uber simple non-smartphones.

Great basic phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my new go phone. It is full of extras like an alarm, voice recorder, address/phone number book, speaker phone and more. The sound quality is great, it sounds better than some peoples smart phones and the price was really reasonable for all that you get in this phone. I am very satisfied with this purchase. Strongly recommended to anyone who just need a basic phone.

Best basic no frills phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a basic smartphone as a present for my dad. He uses an iPad to skype and an old iPhone to play music so I thought he might like a smartphone to replace his old flip phone. It did not work out very well. He said he preferred a real phone for a phone. This one works good and the battery lasts a long time on a single charge. He uses it to make a couple of short calls daily and the battery lasts him about a week. He says the volume is good (considering that he's slightly hard of hearing, that IS good). I can't vouch for durability as my dad is usually careful with his stuff. Will update if and when he drops it. For the price, it's unbeatable.

Great backup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Battery life is Amazing. I can pop in my sim card and go. Fits and feels good in my hand. Only good for calls. Forget messaging. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles but for what it, a phone, it works well

Did What I Needed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't expect much from this gadget. You really can't with the price. But when my phone went for a swim a day before a work trip - this little guy saved me a lot of hassle while my replacement was being shipped. Was able to send/receive calls and texts - all i needed.

Easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my Dad. He loves this phone. It's easy for him to set up and use. It's an excellent price. He owned one of these before and it lasted for years, he was so happy when I found another one.

Great phone for basic needs.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed a phone to use while daughter saved up to replace her iphone, and this served us well. Obviously nothing like the iphone, but the ease of use and price were perfect for the time we needed it.

Good basic phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have purchased two of these phones for my 6ish year old parents, one for my mom and then one for my dad since he liked hers so much. It has good call quality, is loud enough for them to hear, it has buttons that are bigger and easier to use, and the flip style of the phone makes it easy to carry and operate. The only issue we have noticed with it is the speaker phone option, which has a delay, is quiet, and reverb can be heard by the people my parents are talking to. Other than that, they are extremely happy with this model phone.

Excellant value for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really like the large numbers and the screen text is very easy to read. Light weight and sound/speaker is very clear. The folding design makes it easy to carry and store. Battery seems to last a reasonable time but I do turn it off at night.

No frills and priced accordingly.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought three Z222's on sale a month ago for $6.99 each to serve as a first phone for my sixth grader and backups if it gets lost or dunked. Test driving it for a week, I found that call quality is pretty good, reception ok (it drops in the same dead spots as my wife's Galaxy S3) and speakerphone adequate for car use, better for indoors. Texting is impossible without turning on predictive text; once you get used to that it works pretty well. Incredibly, I was even able to find apps for it at the Opera Mobile Store (it's a Java MIDP 2.1 generic phone...link is at http://java-midp21.oms.apps.opera.com/en_us/) There's no sugarcoating, web browsing is a painful experience on this little beast; but it's better than being caught without any web access. Bluetooth works fine for file transfers; unfortunately I couldn't get it to work with the hands-free function in our Honda Odyssey (it connected but dropped after a couple of minutes). I didn't really expect that to work as the Honda HandsFreeLink is notoriously picky about phones. The tiny text on the display isn't really suitable for senior citizens, which is a shame since the keypad and interface are otherwise well suited to the smartphone-averse user. As a burner, backup, kid's first phone or data hog's penalty phone, for $6.99 it's a great deal. I noted that the Z222 is on clearance and not available anywhere right now. I can find no functional differences between it and the Z223 which is on sale for $9.99 at the moment, so my comments also apply to the newer phone. I'd still pay $10 for this unit.

Exactly what you would want
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This basic voice/messaging phone is exactly what you would want for simple communications via go phone. It is easy to activate and use. It is an ideal extra phone for various circumstances (visiting family from out of USA, extra line for simple communications, younger students that do not need a smartphone or do not want to carry such an expensive device). Only major drawback is that once you are used to a smartphone it is tough to go back to a basic model even for simple uses. There is also the hassle of getting a phone number that (in my case) was attached to the prior customer and leads to unwanted calls.

Good replacement phone in a pinch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have AT&T and you don't depend on your phone to be your personal digital/Internet assistant, this is a good, basic phone to supplement a lost or damaged one. It does everything you need it to do — basic text messaging and phone calls. It has a decent alarm clock and the camera isn't bad — it's not what you'd get from, say, an iPhone or a Galaxy, but it's honestly not bad for a basic flip phone. This phone is also good for teens who need something basic to check in with parents, or seniors who just want a simple phone to talk on. It's not optimal for everyone else who want to take advantage of many intermediate and advanced features — you can tweet on this phone, but it's not the best experience, and there's no Facebook, Google or anything else. It won't plug in to your Google or Outlook calendar, you can't sync your contacts, and forget about sending video to the cloud. Still, if you're in a bind and you need a replacement phone, or you just want basic features (like calling, remember when phones did that?), this is a great device at an unbeatable price.

great inexpensive flip phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't like spending a lot of money on my phone and this one has all that I need. I don't text although this phone has that feature. The sound is good and the buttons are easy to use. I wish I would have bought two.
