Okay so to put into perspective, I've owned Astro A40's for years, which to me are very close to the top of the line in gaming headsets when it comes to sound quality and super comfy to wear for long periods of time. The Audio-Technica ATH-ADG1X have amazing sound, maybe just slightly better than the Astro A40's. The only con with this headset for me was the "wing supports" that go on the top of your head. The headset wasn't holding tight enough on my head so the cans would slide down and pull on the top of my ears until I found a little hack online to use either a rubber band or string to keep those wings closer together so that it wouldn't slide down my head and pull on the tops of my ears. It wasn't a deal breaker for me and it was a quick and easy fix to keep those wings together and the rest is history. I love the audio quality coming out of the cans and all around the headset is very light and comfy to wear for long hours of gaming.

This Review Is Using it Without a Amp/Dac, I’m using it with the Turtle Beach Ear Force Headset Audio Adapter Plus 3rd Sound Setting, 2nd Chat Setting. Also tested it directly into the controller Also sounds amazing. I’ve owned Astro a40 TR, Astro A50, Turtle Beach 800x, Turtle Beach Elite With Tac, Sennheisers Game One, sennheisers Game Zero, sennheisers GSP 600 Hyper X Cloud 2 and Hyper X Cloud Alphas, I was really trying to find the best sounding Headset With A great mic. This headset by far is the best sounding headset I have ever owned. The only thing that came close to sound was the sennheisers but I prefer the Super clean Sound and Crisp sound my audio Technica Delivers, I mainly play Shooters so directional Sound is key, and these provide the best directional sound I have ever heard, especially On fortnite nothing comes close, I am hearing footsteps sounds further away from me I never heard on other headsets. For people that don’t know Surround sound is a gimmick, pinpointing footsteps you want to use stereo. MIC is super clear, again the only thing that comes close to the quality of the mic is the sennheisers. I know these baby’s are expensive, But if you want the best sounding headset buy these, But for under 100 I Highly recommend the Hyper X cloud 2 Or Hyper X alphas, Personaly I liked the sound on the alphas better and the mic was also a little better on the alphas but nothing comes close to sound For under 100, absolutely nothing.

We have so many headphones its almost silly. We all love these units so much, we purchased another! You just can't beat the sound and quality!

Pair then with a quality 7.1 channel virtual surround card and you can hear footsteps exactly where they are in game. Lightweight and cause no fatigue

I've used dozens of gaming headsets over the years from Turtle Beach, Astro, Logitech, Razer, Corsair, Mad Catz, etc. This is by far the best gaming headset I have ever used. The punch from the drivers is crisp, clear, and if you have a DAC like the Audioquest Dragonfly or the Astro Promix Amp almost overwhelming. Given many of the reviews I had read before purchase I had expected the headset to be fairly heavy but compared to other gaming headsets I find it to be on the lighter side along with the large ear cups this headset is amazing for extended use and is very easy on the ears staying in place without squeezing down like some headsets. If your a serious gamer or just a fan of sound quality in general buy this headset nothing else comes close.

We have another one of these and two Astro 50’s. After owning them for a year, we decided these are the best! We decided to get another set because they are just that good. We’ve tried them all, trust me, these are just that good!
