I purchased this turntable for my daughter for a birthday present and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and workmanship. Don't let the price scare you, you get what you pay for the features are worth the extra price. This direct drive monster looks as good as it sounds, The pre-amp configuration is a real plus as many of the new integrated amplifiers do not include a phono input. Set up was easy enough and straightforward felt like I was in a time warp as vinyl was very popular in my day. If you're looking for a rock solid good sounding addition to your audio system I think this may be it.

I was looking to replace my Sony Turntable with something more professional and higher quality and after doing much research i decided this was the best for the value and i was right. after replacing the needle with a eplitical high def one it is by far the best sounding turntable ive ever had. my records are clear, crisp and im hearing things i never heard before. the setup is a little tricky as you have to adjust the weight, the needle tracking force, align the needle but after that, its very well worth it. i love the pitch control and direct drive as my records dont sound to slow or too fast anymore. i wish it was automatic but thats my only complaint. ill have to fool with the mp3 function more as i had some problems but other then that, for the price, its the best professional turntable out there without having to spend half a grand or more.

For the most part: very well built, heavy. Pros: Nice features. Easy to setup. Sounds excellent. Looks nice also. Cons: The Latch that hold the arm in place is flimsy, as it broke. Stylus could be better for the price. No auto-return at end of record.

After stumbling onto my mother's old records I looked into getting a turntable to play them on. I purchased one of the suitcase style players and while it didn't damage my records as others say they can, the sound quality wasn't up to my standards. Very flat and dull sound, even when attached to larger, more robust speakers. The records were older but I do remember them sounding much more rich and full when I was younger.
After months of research and a couple new vinyl more, I purchased this turntable and I couldn't be more pleased with the unit.
I waited about a month before starting this review because I needed for that fleeting feeling of new purchase bias to pass. I allowed it to taint my review of the Victrola suitcase record player and didn't want it to happen here, seeing as this is substantially more money that that one.
So to start off the set up can be a little intimidating. Balancing the tone arm, setting the counter weight, and tracking force can be confusing and the manual isn't too detailed on this process. But there are some great YouTubers out there who offer a step by step guide to doing this. Once that is done the rest of the set up is all down hill from there. I'm by no means an audiophile and can't speak to the minutiae of sound details but I find the sound produced by the stylus/cartridge/total turntable, oodles better than my suitcase player. Attached to my all-in-one sound bar. Any genre I've tried so far is up to my liking. This was the sound I was hoping for the first time around.
Perhaps now I see how foolish I was to expect good sound from a suitcase player that costs a little bit more than a record itself. And while some people will be and are, happy sticking with those turntables (more power to them), this one suits my personal preferences. I love the pitch control that lets you slow or speed up the platter. I have a record that for some reason slows down on certain parts and if I slightly change the pitch it sounds great again.
The ability to upgrade the turntable is there for those who want to get even better sound out of this unit. From counter weights to better slip mats, and phono cartridges. I don't plan on upgrading myself just now but I'm glad to know the option is there for when I need to.
If the price is too high there are others in the 99$ range that are great. And those are fully automatic to. The Audio Technica LP60 and a Pioneer turntable we're other ones I considered but once I saw this unit go on sale for substantially less than it's original price, I felt compelled to purchase it.
In the end, I wish the manual was more informative about the set up process and other things like adjusting the tone arm height and how to install a new phono cartridge when the time comes, but I can find that online. Once that hurdle is clear I love the sound and am happy to add to my vinyl collection for years to come.

I bought this thing...It was ok out of the box. Then I did some research about the thing. Unless you want the USB or you don't have a preamp....leave it alone... I yanked out the entire preamp and soldered a whole new RCA chord to the tone arm. I have an Adcom GTP-500 preamp.
I unscrewed the entire motor..under the platter...I floated the whole motor on foam. Leave the screws out.. I put a rubber mat on the platter and on top of that a cork mat. You need to raise the platter up to get the tone arm level with the platter...The tone arm on zero is still too high. As for the anti skate...a little sketchy....You really have to adjust it by ear...Get a scale to measure the tracking weight. Get a protractor and a cartridge overhang gauge. Put some "O" rings on the tone arm, to reduce resonance.....Buy the heavier counter weight.. Get a solid, heavy table to put the turntable on. Level the table...then level the turntable. Get a record clamp for the spindle....Now...mine rocks!!!! Got it hooked up to an Adcom GFA-555 high current amp with some JSE Infinite Slope model 2 speakers...Sweet sound...For the price...a great turn table...

This turntable was easy to unpack and set up. I grew up around the Technics SL-1200 and this is a good enough replacement for me. I briefly considered the LP60,(because of the price) but it doesn't play 78s and doesn't have the features and cachet that I was seeing with this one.

I was initially reluctant to buy a new turntable as I haven't had one for many years. However, my wife said get a new one or get rid of the 120 records sitting in storage. My last turntable was a Sony direct drive that I bought in 1972 and it spoiled me. I'm not an audiophile fanatic so I wanted something that wouldn't break the bank and sounded good. So, looking for another direct drive TT, I found this one. It had good reviews and wasn't horribly priced so I went for it. I absolutely love this thing. It's easy to set up, has great sound and the stereo channels are well separated. It looks good and sounds good. If I had to have any kind of a complaint, it would be the arm lift. It's a little difficult to see but that's because of the necessary placement in my cabinet. The old Sony would automatically turn off the TT when you set the tone arm back on the rest. That was a handy feature and I miss it. Other than that, I'd highly recommend this product.

As a life long hip hop fan I've always been fascinated with the idea of turntables. I've never owned own until I got the Audio Technica AT-LP-120-USB. It was in stock at my local BBY so I picked it up. The first thing noticed was how heavy it was! This turntable is heavy duty! There was some assembly required so I recommend reading the instructions before you start taking things out of the box. Set up took about 30-45 minutes. Please note the RCA cable is permanently attached to the back of the turntable. I know that bothers some people but it didn't bother me as I used the RCA cables to connect to my Sony Blu Ray receiver. Everything worked fine and records sound amazing coming through the Sony home theater. There's a lot of features that i haven't even used yet like ff/rw, different RPM settings and the LP to digital feature using a PC. I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this exact turntable to anyone looking to get into Vinyl Records. My only suggestion would be is for Best Buy to stock LP's!! I wasn't able to go home with an LP but I had one at home waiting for me then went online and got some off BestBuy.com.

Audio Technica products are superb. This unit weighs almost 20 lbs ... it is that solid. I have resurrected my classical music collection (vinyl) which I never replaced w/ cd's. Excellent sound quality w/ included cartridge and stylus. Very excited about this purchase.

I absolutely love this turntable. It is sturdy and well designed. I hooked this up to just a basic speaker system that I had and I can say that I've never felt like i really heard my vinyl records until now. The sound quality with this is incredible! The set up is very easy as well. It is on the pricier side but it is well worth the investment.

Okay, so it has been 25+ years since I had a functional turntable, and at the time the one I had was a good, direct drive unit. But this blows it away. Man have I missed vinyl! Our daughter has a friend with one of these and he love his. So when her cheap turntable needed an upgrade, we bought this unit and loved it so much, we went back the very next day and got one for ourselves.
The construction is high quality, the unit is very heavy. It was packed incredibly well and the setup instructions were very clear.
We are really enjoying the sound, the old records we saved and the new 180g/200g reprints we are buying around town.
This unit is worth every penny - excellent quality!

This product has wonderful sound and is easy to use. Having records from the 60's and 70's that we haven't played in over 20 years, you forget how fantastic these recordings sound back in the day before all the digital sound. Highly recommended.

Purchased the AT LP-120 turntable about one month ago and have not regretted the decision one bit.Have jumped back into vinyl with a passion after being away for 25 years. Only took about 30 minutes for me to set up, online videos were helpful in addressing the balancing of the tone arm. If you have considered investing in a professional style, direct drive turntable, consider this unit which will not require a bank note to purchase.

I recently purchased an Audio-Technica Pro Turntable, which was an awesome, and worth while investment! I initially had my reservations about ordering the item online and having it shipped to my home,
but I eventually ended up going for it, and everything turned out just fine. Once I got the unit unpacked, I was pretty surprised of how simple the initial setup was to complete. I was even more impressed with the quality and design of the unit. It is very stylish, handsome, and made a great addition to my audio system! The best part of it all was playing one of my favorite albums I saved from way back when. It was an amazing experience listening to the clear and precise acoustical reproductions of the unit .
I haven't had a working turntable for over 30 years, but somehow I have held on to my album collection though. I can only say one thing in regards to that. Man, I am so glad I did now!!! #AWESOME

Never thought I would have a turntable again and I am so glad we purchased one. This one in particular is affordable and high quality, easy to set up and has a retro look. My records sound awesome on it. Comes with software that is slightly behind newer updated versions that are out there for recording to mp3. Directions on how to work with this software are not intuitive, but who wants to listen to MP3 when you can listen to a higher quality sounding lp?

Have an apartment and needed some vinyl to enjoy. Already have an AT LP20 but it’s around ten years old and in Colorado. Other than the built in phono preamp this is a great turntable. I updated the cartridge to a better one from the audio-technica folks and a cork mat and it sounds far better than what is now invested. Buy it!

For several years now, I've owned an ION turntable. Yes, it was cheap but it got the job done. One thing that I've noticed, however, is that its frequency response has always been rather poor. Bass was incredibly low and I could hear the record playing at the needle, which always struck me as odd. But at the time I bought it specifically to do some record-to-CD conversions and I could always run it through an equalizer while mastering the audio to bump of the lower frequencies.
This past year, I designed and built a new entertainment meant specifically to hold all of my LPs and 45s, the vast majority of which are from the 1980s, and I decided to buy a new turntable to start listening to them again. Knowing that AT turntable was always a highly rated unit, I decided to go for it.
Two things immediately jumped out at me when everything was done.
The first is that this beast is HEAVY compared to the cheapy ION turntable. The ION weighed at most 9 pounds, which was fine for the roll-out shelf I had it on. But the AT turntable came in at a whopping (relatively speaking) 23 pounds! The unit was definitely designed to stay seated and minimize any external vibrations. I ended up replacing the rolling shelf supports in my A/V rack with heavy-duty supports, just to be safe.
The second (and most important for me) is that the bass was much, much stronger. Yes, the overall audio quality was superior, but after playing one track from "Rubber Soul" I said to my wife, "I actually hear bass from my records now!"
I know that records are coming back (although I'm not naive enough to think that they'll be anywhere near as popular as they were before), but at least now I have a turntable that makes vinyl worth listening to again.
