I purchased the silver version for my front door. The big form factor is a turn-off, but that's the worst thing about it. Overall, I like it, and I'm definitely keeping it. Paired with the Connect, I can deal with my lock from anywhere. I like that I can send a key to trusted people (and be notified when they use it). I have it connected to IFTTT so I can be alerted about its use when I'm very away. I really like the thing, and I hope they make smaller versions as time goes on.

After trying another smart lock and having no success this was a huge surprise it's very easy to install takes maybe 5 to 10 minutes to do so very simple it's far is the lock and unlock functions on the application I would definitely recommend to a friend

Kids no longer can leave the door unlocked. The Geofencing works pretty well.

I liked them, they were really a great idea. Especially how they used the existing lock. The problem is they eat batteries, I ended up using lithium AAs. That helped but still, I would go through for batteries per device about every two months. Plus the app was quirky but they worked with Google to lock...

i wanted one that i could pair with alexa. after researching though a found a lot of them aren't safe that are visible from the outside because someone could just shout to alexa to unlock the door but this one is very discreet from the outside.

I was very excited to setup my smart home and the smart lock seemed to me an important place. How else could i make sure the door was locked when away or remotely let a delivery person leave a package safely inside? Well the answer is not the august smart lock. This lock requires bluetooth connectivity to your phone to function which means if youre any more than 40 ft or so away it might as well be a normal lock. If this didnt make it useless enough to warrant the rating the next point will. Most doors that lead to the outside have tight enough weather seals that you need to push in slightly in order to be able to rotate and lock the door. Due to this if you try to remotely lock your door (while staying near enough to be connected to bluetooth) you have to manually push your door in so that the deadbolt can enter its slot. If youre going to be pushing in your door so it can lock automatically you might as well just manually lock it. The only reason I am not giving this product a 1 star is because it was easy to install (and uninstall) and looks pretty good.

The August lock is a very good smartlock for the price. It appears to do most of what I would like except that instead of creating "accounts" for users I would rather check out electronic keys and then have the ability to identify the time frames that the key is usable. This is a software issue that can be resolved later. Otherwise the lock performs as advertised although you do have to get used to having your phone with you or leaving the door open if you have a bunch of groceries.

Wanted to be buy a smart lock but didn’t want to spend the money. This came up as “deal of the day” and it was well worth it. I have a son who 1) loses keys 2) forgets to lock the door when he leaves. This solved both issues. Easy to set up.

Was a gift purchase for Christmas. Ended up having to buy the connect to remotely connect to the lock for when I’m away. You will have problems if your door is not properly aligned on the door frame. The motor in the August is not the strongest in the world so it will catch if the deadbolt is not properly aligned. Other than that, I have had no issues with the product. It has made life simple and easy when having friends come over to let my dogs out!

Overall a great concept. It syncs very well by remote access using August and Xfinity Home App. However its Bluetooth ability is a little sub-par. I have found it necessary to re sync my phone with the smart lock constantly by restarting my Bluetooth. The support has been pretty good so far and they are sending me a replacement. Based on that I would recommend it with some caution.

Decided to get a remote door lock so I could make sure my door was locked. This combined with their other product for remote viewing anywhere. Works wonderful. Especially when others need to get into my house when I'm at work. Or heck, even out of state!

I had to return my August. I installed it (was super easy), but once installed I had to push my door inward for it to lock and unlock. I'm not sure if the weather strip was pushing the door outward, but I was not going to undo the wether strip and let cold air inside the house to install a gadget, that does have potential, but not without it's (or my door's) flaws.

This lock has made my life a lot easier, when he comes to my housekeeper or my contractor coming to work on my house is as easy as me getting on my cell phone and they are able to get into my house. I can't think of another better product to use

The August Lock is very easy to install. Buy the August Connect if u want to remotely access the lock.

This is exactly what we were looking for, would recommend to others.

It’s a little glitchy and will sometimes unlock while I’m in the house. I believe it gets updated often so hopefully it improves over time.

It really lacks features when using it with an Android device. I hear it's great with iPhone and homekit, but with Android, the auto unlock feature is wonky. Sometimes I wake up to my door having unlocked while I'm home. I'd say wait for a better one, unless you live in an apartment.

Was very easy to isntal. It work great with my phone and Alexa

This works as intended. Just wish the app would notify me when the battery is low

August - HomeKit Bluetooth Deadbolt Retrofit Smart Lock, works great. Its a pleasure not having to run down the stairs to let someone in. No more fumbling for keys and the best part is If I get locked out I can unlock the door with my phone.
