I needed a lock without a keypad physically attached to it. I wanted my door to maintain the elegant look from the outside. That way it looks like there’s no smart lock, but on the inside there is. The installation was extremely easy, takes about 10-12 minutes. The app guides you through it step by step. You can lock, unlock, program codes, remove codes all within the app. I love being able to not have to carry keys or a phone with me thanks to the keypad. The lock is extremely quiet too. Just remember, to change settings you need to be within Bluetooth range of the lock.

We got this because we didnt want out toddlers to accidently lock us out running to the garage now that they learned how to turn deadlocks. It has already paid off.

It works with fairly simple setup. Lock is 2ft from our homes wifi router, but requires a monthly battery change. Since purchase I am on my fourth battery replacement. Very expensive hidden cost! I would go elsewhere if possible.

My experience with the August Smart Lock has been a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the design is sleek, and the concept of a smart lock is undeniably cool. The installation process was relatively straightforward, and the app interface is user-friendly. However, my major gripe lies in its connectivity, especially with Apple Home. I've encountered consistent issues with the August Smart Lock not syncing properly with my Apple Home setup. It's frustrating to have a smart device that doesn't seamlessly integrate into the smart home ecosystem it's supposed to be a part of. Another drawback is the battery life. It falls short of expectations, and replacing the batteries more frequently than anticipated can be inconvenient. It would be great if the device could somehow optimize its power consumption to extend battery life. In terms of security and basic functionality, the August Smart Lock performs adequately. If they could address the connectivity and battery life issues through updates, it would significantly enhance the overall user experience. For now, it's a decent option with room for improvement.

I love this product. One of the best electronic devices I've every purchases. Incredibly easy to install and set up. Incredibly helpful and step by step video instructioins from manufacture. It connects to your phone's bluetooth and can sense when you are home and away and can automatically open the door when you arrive. The separate key pad may be a nusicense for some but I placed my inside the door or eaase of access. It comes in handy when you phone it dead. Both require batteries which do have to be replaced from time to time but both alert you well in advance of failure and I've never had an issue with a dead lock (unlike my dead wireless battery operated cameras :-(.

Overall I like the product. I can give everyone their own code to get in and schedule dates and times for access to the lock . I am able to open the lock remotely. I had some problems after daylight savings - had to reset all the codes to get them to work properly. Also, because it works with WiFi, it doesn’t work at all when the power is out. It does reset itself properly the minute the power is back up. Batteries need to be replaced maybe once every 2-3 months.

The installation of the keypad was tricky and I had to call tech support for a reset code (which they should have provided with the product, in my opinion). You'll need to watch some videos to install it.....not much documentation provided. Kind of pricy, but they all are. A critical issue is your deadbolt must open and close with no impediment. If it's not a smooth, flawless in and out with the deadbolt to begin with, no smart lock will work properly. This is often an issue with older homes. For me, the key positive feature is that I didn't have to change the deadbolt. Most smart-locks require the installation of a deadbolt provided with the system. I didn't want to change the key or hire a locksmith. So I went with August. It is working perfectly for now. The keypad, the phone app, even the geofencing feature is all good. I haven't owned it long enough to experience the battery issue many people talk about, but I probably will. Another plus is there nothing about the lock itself to add to the outside of the door, so no visual impact. The round lock turn added to the inside is small and very attractive.....fits right in visually. The battery cover removal process is easy and ingenious. So it was a good choice for my objectives. I'd give it a 5 for the end result - operation, appearance and performance, and a 4 for installation ease.

This is the first smart lock we've ever bought. Got it on sale with the keypad and it came with a smart clock. I never heard of this brand before, but I'm really impressed with this August product. The physical setup was easy, especially since only the inside part of the door lock is replaced. The app setup was near perfect, but it wasn't easy, at first, to find instructions on how to connect the keypad. Those instructions were on the website. The keypad was easy to attach to the house and has worked every time. The smart lock has worked just fine, except for the first couple times I used auto unlock (senses when you're almost home with your phone). It has always locked itself on the set time after shutting the door. Be careful to not shut yourself out without a key, phone, or keypad, because if you run outside and it locks after a minute, you may get locked out. The app tells you who and when the front door was opened and closed. I've been able to connect it to Google Home and control the door through my bedroom smart clock. Obviously a network connection is needed but the lock can use Bluetooth too. It's just nice to look on your phone and know the front door is locked. Or know the kids can get in the house if they forgot their keys. The price may be a little much but this is a quality smart lock with a lot of features.

I have purchased a couple August locks for our AirBnBs. The are so easy to install a five-year-old could do it. Setting them up with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth key pad was made simple with the August app - just SIMPLE. We hace had no issues with reliability at all, we ise there eero mesh system with wifi 2 and 5 -without issue or disconnection issues. Highly recommend !

Awesome lock! This August smart lock was purchased as a replacement to the older model. It was quick to install. The keypad is also a great addition. Instead of opening a lockbox in the garage for the door key the keypad allows for a entry of a PIN.

This log is generally functional as you would hope. if you frequently misplace your keys, this might be helpful. it has never failed. However, it has several detriments, which make it ideal. First, it eats batteries. I live in an apartment with my wife and what I would describe as basic use. It’s a batteries within even as little as a month to two months. This is unacceptable to achieve five stars. Second, I replaced the batteries today and after 18 hours the indicator has still not shown that the bat is full. Third, there is significant lag in the app. Frequently, it takes 30 seconds for the app to recognize the lock, and then show whether it is locked or unlocked even 50 feet away from the lock. In sum, I use this lock consistently and it has never outright failed, however, I am very underwhelmed by its its functionality.

This smart lock is wonderful! Very easy to install and quite stylish. My one recommendation is to double check and make sure that your lock is compatible with your current deadbolt. I had to replace my deadbolt in order to use this smart lock. The Apple home app is complete junk, but this works perfectly through the August app as well as Google Assistant. It does protrude quite a bit from the door, but that makes it much easier to grasp and turn when you want to manually lock or unlock the door. The keypad is an excellent addition, although each person has to have their own pin. There is no one code for everybody unless it’s an emergency.

Prior to the August, we had a Kevo lock. This lock is by far the superior of the two! Very easy to install and user friendly. We also have the August video doorbell, so the lock and the doorbell work very well together. Highly recommend getting both. My family loves how the lock can automatically lock after a set number of minutes. It will notify you if the door hasn’t been closed all the way. We also love how we don’t need to be near the door or house to lock and unlock the door. My husband was able unlock our front door from out of state! In my opinion the best lock out there!

easy to install and use. i’m very happy with this smart lock and the keypad makes it easy for visitors to get in and out. I assign everyone their own code and can revoke it when ready. this was a great purchase and i’d highly recommend it. My only concern is about the battery life in the august lock. I’ve not had it that long and already had to replace the lithium cr123 batteries. hopefully it lasts longer on the new batteries.

The smartlock is easy to install. I enjoy having the access on my phone. Biggest complaint is you have to change the batteries every 3 months or so. Also, the keypad is slow and came off the wall with lots of usage.

got it to work with airbnb. My guests receive codes automatically!! (reminder when setting up make sure to activate both Keypad and Lock in app under 'Works with' -> airbnb. I only had lock and thats why my guests weren't receiving Keypad codes lol... anyway amazing for airbnb! THOUGH I bought rechargable triple A batteries. To avoid spending so much with them. Nothing crazy though charge lasts sufficient
