I got into Avenged Sevenfold with their newer cds, so I thought I'd go back and get some of the older ones. It's good, but I prefer the newer stuff.

Not as good as Hail to the King, but not bad since they all can't be real good. Some highlights, some middle of the road, and some not so good songs in my opinion.

After being introduced Avenged Sevenfold I figured I'd pick up and older CD. Hail to the King is still my favorite.

This band just keeps getting better. This cd is a lot different from their previous ones but just as good. They pull away from the screamo rock they have previously been associated with and really tone it down for this album. Every song is a rocking piece of work, and the music and guitar solos are unbelievable. One of the stand out songs on the album is "A Little Piece of Heaven," which is an eight minute song recounting the ups and downs of a relationship, which we can all relate to. "Critical Acclaim" comes off a little hardcore but really has a great message if you listen to the words. Some other great songs on the album are "Lost," "Almost Easy," and "Gunslinger." The album ends with the only slow song on the album, "Dear God." This song is an amazing love song and probably very relevant for anyone in the music industry that has a significant other at home. The singer talks about how he is always away and missing his girl and he asks God to watch over her when he can't be there. This is an amazing cd, and even if you didn't like Avenged Sevenfold's cds in the past, you should give this one a try. This band knows how to rock!

I have heard a few songs from this CD...Almost Easy, Critical Acclaim, Scream, and A Little Piece Of Heaven. This is an amazing CD from what I've heard. The lead singers girlfriend Valary is back to doing her "demon-girly scream" on the track Scream. Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance are still doing their dueling solo's and are still guitar gods. And The Rev's drumming has gotten even faster and better. Also...The Rev SINGS. ^_^ Oh by the way...this is NOT Pop.

i was never really an avenged sevenfold fan until i listened to this particular album... i thought that although melodically they were great that m shadows was just a flash in the pan that would blow his voice out after two albums. i was incredibly wrong; although there is still alot of screaming he has really challenged his voice and sings more in tune with the raging guitar riffs and strong rhythm section. i would consider this to be a "must-buy"
