Works great right out the box. The process was very easy and I like the quality. So far so good. The PC free mode is my favorite so far.

so first and for more most this capture card is awsome!! So if ur new to streaming and this is ur first graphic card great decision. Pros: *U can record to SD *u can stream live threw pc from game console *no pc needed for recording *separate party and commentary mic options *easy set up Cons: *instructions not available for use only connection *color choices of capture card (personal dislike) *hdmi cables that come with device are short Again this is just my take on the avermedia 2-plus. I do recommend there's plenty of videos on YouTube to help get going.

First, I must apologize for my bad writing skills. With this capture card, it’s a love hate relation I have with it. I am a Pc gamer. My kids play on Xbox one. This review will be like 2 reviews in one. One for console, and one for 2 pc set up. I will start out with one issue that I had and this applies overall. It had a lack of instructions out of the box. As well as even online. It had a quick guide but that just really showed you how to just set it up. Which everything is labeled and was pretty easy. But it did not explain a few things. There is a mode switch and that is all the quick guide says. Does not explain it. So, the modes are all the way to the left which looks like a pc monitor is for recording/streaming thru a pc. So, you must have the USB cord connected to a pc. The middle spot looks like a micro SD card and this is for no pc. Meaning, you have to have a SD card in it and do not need it plugged into a pc but you still need it plugged into something to power it up. We just used a USB charging block. And then all the way to the right looks like a couple arrows going opposite ways. This makes the device act like a card reader when plugged into a pc so you can then look at the SD card and get your videos off from it. The online manual also lacks direction as to using this in the no pc mode. When you plug it in the light is blue and when recording you press and its red. My son and I thought it was recording when blue as red in the US usually means stop. But that was not the case. The audio is also not that good from it when you plug in a headset to it. I am mostly deaf and I have to have my volume all the way up. when I plugged in a headset to the device’s headset slot, it was half of the volume. But it was fine as far as the recording went when I played back the recording. For PC to PC I could not figure out a way around this. Even when I would plug my headset into the receiving PC it was still only half. The only way I could get it to be full was to plug into my main PC, but then the sound would not get picked up as PCs seem to only let you use 1 device. Maybe I can find a software that would allow to select 2 devices to output or some how figure out how to get it to work and keep the volume loud but for now having it a week, and still cannot get it, a little disappointed. Again, also lack of directions on maybe explaining ways to connect a PC to another PC to stream/record would be nice. On the Xbox side, it did the same thing, however when we plugged in the supplied aux cord from the controller to the device spot for controller it then allowed the sound to be normal. Now for talking mainly about Xbox and using this. It worked great once we got it figured out. If you plug in a headset into the headset spot and just that, for some reason the sound is half like I said above. So, you have to then also plug in the aux cord from controller to device. this allowed the sound to be normal and you can freely talk with your friends etc. and it picked up everything. Its easy to set up and use. Just have to make sure you put the mode switch to the middle spot. And then when you are ready to upload the videos, you place the switch to the right. and then just make sure you have an SD card for it. And when you first set up, it will be blue color to say its on and then you just press the top of it and it will turn red indicating its recording. I believe its about 4 gigs per 30 minutes. I suggest between each match to stop and start recording so that you can separate your game matches. This also will dump the oldest recordings when the SD card gets full. So if you do a great match, make sure to upload that to a computer or YouTube or where ever so that you don’t lose it. As far as console side, my issue is that for those who like to sit 10 ft or so away like my oldest son does, this is not ideal out of the box. Mine had 2 HDMI cables in it. (not sure if one was a mistake) but both are very short. Maybe 18 or so inches long if that. Most already have a decent length HDMI cable from tv to console. And then using the that came with device, your left with this having to be right next to your console. The aux cord is then only about 4 or 5 ft. not very long. And most headsets are not all that long either. I would have liked to have seen 2 aux cords 10-15 feet each. One that is a male end on both sides and one that is a male end on one side and a female end on the other side. This way you can plug those into the device, and then have them long enough to reach where you are sitting at then be able to plug your headset into the one and your controller into the other. That is that as far as console. I do not own a PlayStation so can’t really talk about that but assume its similar to Xbox. So now for PC to PC. At the moment I own 2 laptops. Hoping to get a desktop soon. One laptop I game on and is ok but with a couple new titles that are out, I can’t record and play with the same laptop. Takes to much of a hit and I get bad lag. My other laptop was great in its day but a few years old now. Been thru a house fire as well but still kicking. I enjoy streaming and recording just to do. If I am gaming why not. So, I was super excited to get this capture card. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy it and love it and for the most part is great. Again, my only main issues I already said and the biggest for me with PC to PC was the lack of audio. So far, if I use this I basically am limited to the audio being half. If I had great hearing, probably would not be an issue as you probably have your volume set to half anyways and so you would just set it max. but for me it’s a big deal. That said though, using this I did not feel any lag at all and was able to stream and record games. The FPS (frames per second) stayed the same no matter what. I basically set it up with my gaming pc HDMI to device, then device to monitor. Then the USB cord to my other computer. You then have a couple options for sound. If you want to capture the sound in your recording, you have to then either plug in your headset to the device itself, or you can plug into the PC that you are recording onto. If your headset has a mic, you can either plug into the device, depending on headset, you may need to use an adaptor if your headset is 2 separate plugs to make it 1. Or you can plug into the computer your recording to, or you can plug the mic into gaming computer and then the headset into either pc your recording to or device. being that the device was next to my gaming pc anyways, I just kept my mic plugged into gaming pc and then I plugged in the headset to device. Like I said, for PC to PC, it lacked audio. Might be able to use a splitter and plug a headset into one and have the other go to pc recording to and to its mic side. But again, just having to even try to find work arounds is not fun to have to do. So anyways that’s my review. 4 stars I give and still recommend. And especially if console. Love that at least I can record or stream again and not take a hit. But the few issues I mentioned are why 4 stars for me and not 5. And the sound issue was the biggest reason for me.

Very easy to use, video quality came out great, accepted all the signals I sent to it. Love that you can capture without the need of a PC always connected.

Look up YouTube tutorials! It was difficult to learn how to use at first but now I love it. The quality is good and I like that it’s portable.

I had to replace my old elgato HD60S capture card and wanted 4K pass-through for my 4K TV. this device gives me that. It doesn't support HDR, but for $100 (I paid $125 at the time of purchase) I'm not complaining! it's small, compact and works great! Setup was a little unclear with OBS to get audio working you need to set your audio out to the 'microphone' to capture game audio, after figuring that out, you're good to go! my streams look fantastic as well! come check me out when i'm live on Mixer at mixer.com/smokeydevil

This little device did exactly what it advertised. It captured HDMI video that passed through and is capable of saving it to either a micro-sd card or directly to your PC via USB! Software is free and downloadable from manufacturer's website. Easy toggle switch and lighting lets you know exactly what is being recorded, when, and to where. Highly recommended for anyone looking to capture high quality video!

This is okay for streaming live service but the Elgato is a lower profile and seemingly easier to import. After a couple of tries I was able to get it working. Best Buy would not see you it that I got my package when it was about two hours away and then the next day in NY and should have been in Oklahoma. However about 7 days after the promised delivery I finally received my device.

I bought this so I could hopefully use my DSLR as a webcam for GoToMeeting. Super easy setup and worked like a charm. GTM squeezes the image just a bit, so now I run it through OBS first and the signal is perfect.

This was my first capture card I bought for myself. I've used the Elgato HD60, but this one was considerably cheaper, so I decided to go with it. I've been pleasantly surprised! It streams my Switch in decent quality and was easy to integrate with SLOBS. Setup was easy - just plug and go, really! I haven't used PC-free mode yet, but I can vouch for it as a streaming device.

Plays crisp video and easy enough for my 10 years old son to set up himself.

I am not a gamer but I am someone who needs to and wants to occasionally view video on my computer. With this I can use my gopro camera as a webcam, I can view broadcast shows on my computer in my small office where there is no room for a dedicated monitor. It is easy to use and set up. The accompanying RECentral software is a good interface for the device.

quick little box that I picked up to record my screen so I could do my presentations. it's pretty easy to use. all you have to do I slap a sd card into it and away you go. no configuring anything or fighting with your computer. I use a screen capture of 1080p so I have no complaints. I don' think anyone wants to see me in 4k.

Great capture card resolution and capture is beautiful and runs great with OBS. Super easy setup except for that you have to select the capture for video and audio separately but that makes it more versatile overall. Only complaint is a slight white noise on the audio capture and for that reason only I'd give it a 4 star instead of 5.
