Absolutely grab this game if you enjoy clever card mechanics, satisfying progression, and a surprising amount of strategic depth. It takes the familiar foundation of poker and twists it into an addictive roguelike experience. Each run feels fresh as you unlock powerful Jokers and synergies that can lead to truly wild and satisfying hands. Don't let the simple premise fool you; Balatro is a captivating and unique gem that's easy to pick up but incredibly hard to put down. You'll be thinking about your next run long after you've finished the last one.

One of the most addicting games I’ve played in years. Seriously you’ll keep telling yourself “just one more game” every time you start playing. It should absolutely win game of the year and I can’t recommend it enough.

Balatro is a fun and surprisingly deep roguelike deckbuilder built around poker mechanics. It is engaging and fun and can be played for a few minutes or several hours at a time. Unfortunately, this physical special edition does not rise to the stellar heights of the gameplay. The 10 included cards are pretty boring and miss the mark of being special—they lack any foil or holographic effects that would really make them stand out. My bigest gripe is that even though this a physical realease, it still requires a software update to play. I would have preferred an empty chip with a digital download code. In my opinion you are better off buying the digital version of this amazing game so you can seamlessly pop in and play whenever you want, without having to fiddle with the game cartridge. Do yourself a favor and buy this game, just consider if its physical release is right for you.

This game was recommended to me and I was skeptical. Upon popping into my switch, I have not been able to put it down. Addictive, innovative, and fun - this game has it all if you are a strategy and/or deck builder card game fan

Outstanding rougelike twist on the game of poker. There's been an uptick of deckbuilding games in the past decade, and I have come to find that this is a genre that I like a lot. Balatro is possibly the best of the bunch for its fast pace, relative simplicity, and vast amount of options/variety.

If you have any interest in poker, roguelikes, deckbuilders, or score chasing games, you ought to play this. Even if you don't, you still might enjoy this unique game. Balatro has deservedly been one of 2024's most successful games both commercially and critically, and was developed as a passion project by one person who never imagined the level of success it has had. It has been compared favorably to other genre titans Slay the Spire and Monster Train as one of the best out there. I own this game digitally on the Switch and also on mobile and had to have a physical version for my collection.

Great game, each deck changes your game play strategy and it’s very easy to pick up and put down with out worrying about a good “stopping point”. One critical thing I have about it is that the “difficulty level” is increased lazily by taking the previous difficulties and adding and additional rule.

I became so obsessed with this game after buying it digitally that I purchased a physical copy (comes with some cards), as well as digital copies on PC as well.

Balatro is one of those rare games that takes a familiar concept “poker” and completely flips it. It becomes a roguelike deckbuilder where the goal is to build the most broken, overpowered deck possible, chaining combos and multipliers in ways that you’d have to be strategic; anyone who hasn’t even played poker will learn by the end of this game.

Balatro is a must play! This game is one of the most addictive games you can play! Its awesome to get the physical cards with this addition. A must buy for any Jimbo lovers out there!

Odd card game that mixes poker with deck building around various jokers & ability cards to beat score goals. It was easy enough to pick up the gameplay and has addictive play with the unlocked new cards & deck abilities.

This game is very fun to play. However, I didn't get addicted like others did. While I was playing it I felt compelled to develop strategies, optimize my deck, look for new cards, and play "just one more round". After I finished a run and made it to the "end", I did not feel compelled to go back and play more.
