    Just about Perfect

I actually signed up for HBO just to watch this series when it first came out. Watching first episode, it was a little disapppointing as the actors were unknowns with just Schwimmer (who generally I find annoying) as the single known entity. Boy, was I wrong. After an epeisode or two EVERYBODY filled in their role very well (including Schwimmer) and now I think the casting perfect. The series is mostly fact-based (read the BAND Of BROTHERS and BEYOND BAND OF BROTHERS books and you will find what is artistic license) and thoroughly awesome, inspiring and captivating. You come away so full of admiration, gratitude, and respect for these actual soldiers (some of whom even get to appear at the end of each episode on camera) and gratitude to Hanks and Speilberg for having the good sense to make the series. This is an absolute must-have for anyone who has any interest at all in WWII western front history - and everyone should have such an interest. Finally, if you run a business and want to learn about leadership skills, watch the Rick Winters charcater in the DVD's and then go read the books above to learn more.

    Outstanding series & DVD set

I received this as a gift and was so excited to view it. As a big fan of both movies and documentaries of World War II I have seen many if not all of the films and a lot of tv specials on the war. This series/DVD really gives you the best of everything. While it views like a movie the pre-episode commentaries from the actual soldiers and the dialog really takes you to the real horrors and trials that these soldiers went through during the war. The only thing that could have made the movie more realistic is somehow adding the smells to go along with the sights and sounds. Everything gets 5 stars and most of the acting is excellent given that it is predominantly done by people you've never seen before. The acting was close to a 5 and would have been a 4.5 had it allowed. If you are even mildly curious about the war you should invest in this set. I think it's a must-own for any cinema buff and a great reminder of the true nature of the sheer volume of people involved on each side. Let's all hope there is never a global conflict to match that one.

One of the best miniseries ever produced.

This series is a must see for history buffs, especially those who enjoy Steven Spielberg or Tom Hanks. "Band of Brothers". This fascinating miniseries, focusing on E Company, 2nd Battalion, is part miniseries, part documentary, and part history lesson all wrapped into one. Each episode contains then-contemporary (nearly all E Company members are now deceased) interviews with actual members of E company, which serve as preludes to the episodes. Their identities are revealed in the finale. In addition to the 10 episodes, the DVD contains some bonus features, such as the 80-minute documentary "We Stand Alone Together: The Men of Easy Company".

    Best WWII Title

This is perhaps the greatest work of storytelling, cinematography, and acting combined. It is a compelling story of Easy Company 101st Airborne Division. The story starts from boot camp and takes you all the way through some of the biggest historical battles of WWII. The story itself is a fascinating character study on how the bond between these men is forged. There is a plethora of characters that you will get to know and love, and when it is over you will want to watch it again. I have literally watched every episode at least 10 times, and cannot wait for the Blu Ray release later in the year. I have not found a single person who has seen BOB and not loved it. It sits at #6 on the all-time DVD's sold list.

    Incredible

I just got finished watching Band of Brothers the whole way through. It was one of the best reproductions of WWII I have seen yet. Granted, I was never in WWII, or any other war, but it makes you feel as if you were there. If you liked Saving Private Ryan, you will LOVE this series. Jerry Bruckheimer and Tom Hanks do an outstanding job executing the reality of the soldiers and events. The bonus features for each episode are very interesting as well. If you like learning about history, like war or historical movies at all, you should definitely pick this up. It is, hands down, one of the best purchases I have ever made, especially as far as movies go. Don't worry, it is definitely worth the money!

    Docudrama at its best

This series is a must see for everyone, especially those that have seen Saving Private Ryan. Although I like the movie it follows a fictional storyline and sacrifices reality for Hollywood in several parts. This series does none of that. It is based off of the book written by the Ambrose, the eminent historian. Best of all it gives many interviews from the actual stories that this is based upon. Looking at the Real person and then seeing the actors portraying them on the screen was almost scary. You would swear that each actor is the grandson of the person they are playing. Follow the story of Easy Company from basic until the end of the European campaign, you won't regret it.

    Best WW2 Series yet

Having watched and read a great deal about WW2, I knew I wanted to watch the Band of Brothers series. I wasn't prepared for how well done it had been and how much of an impact it would have. The series quickly became one of my favorite series ever. Once I started watching them, I couldn't stop until I was done. The graphic telling of the 101st Airborne's story of WW2 isn't for the faint of heart, but I would recommend it to virtually everyone. That being said, make sure you clear out a large chunk of time for Band of Brothers when you start watching, because you won't want to stop. As soon as I finished, I had to fight the urge to start them over again.

    Best Miniseries Ever

This is a excellent miniseries that covers the boys from EZ company throughout WWII, from training camp right up through the end of the war. Based on a true story, it features commentary from the brave men whom the story is based on. The acting is excellent and you really begin to feel connected to the characters. The storytelling is fantastic as the miniseries follows each characters struggles during the war. The miniseries is not without its share of action, and the action is great and intense. However, it is the story of the struggle that these men overcame that makes this one of my favorite movies. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

    Best of HBO

Band of Brothers is one of the best mini-series HBO has put on television. The cinematography, and special effects puts in the top echelon of anything I have ever seen on screen. It puts you right into the war, both highs and lows of military life, and as much as I liked "Saving Private Ryan" I think that the story of the unit in Band of Brothers is a more important true-life tale to tell. You get to know the men and their relationships with each other. Everyone who likes World War II stories should at least see this one time through. I've seen it more than once and still have the DVD set in my collection.

    This Movie Is Awesome

I paid full price as a present for my husband when this first came out on DVD. We watched it more than once every winter and then had a home burglary where someone stole many of our DVD's. They stole this one. For Christmas this year my husband asked me to buy this one again. So it's one of those movies you'll watch over and over and even buy more than once if you have to. I'm not a war movie person, but this DVD set changed that and now my husband and I spend many hours together enjoying war movies, but this has to be THE BEST.

Best of the Best War Movies

Love the mixture of real interviews and "reinactments" from these men's point of view. I think it did a great job of showing the hardships of war and the moral conflicts that these men went through. I was cheering for them to make it through, and cried when any of them died. Plenty of action for you blood and guts guys - and enough suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat and dying to see the next episode. To have the collection is a must for any WW2 buff.

    WWII comes alive!

Incredible! Doesn't precisely follow the book, but faithful enough to satisfy most sticklers! Amazing insight into the bond that forms between men in war who in civilian life would never engage-and the mark they forever leave on each other-and that war leaves on them. Highly recommended for high school kids to make war real for them-so they can never again think of it as just a video game...

Band of Brothers realistically takes you through the lives of the men of the 101st Airborne during World War II. If you loved "Saving Private Ryan", then you will absolutey love this 10 hour Mini-Series. I reccommend this DVD to the highest and should be a must see for everyone.

The only drawback with Band of Brothers is that it's only 10 episodes...because it leaves you wanting more after watching it. No matter how many times I've seen it I can still sit down and enjoy all of the episodes. The story of the men of Easy Company who fought together in Europe during WWII is one that everyone should experience.

MUST HAVE for any military movie fan. Honestly, the best DVD or DVD set I have ever bought. Even my wife loves all of the episodes (and she doesn't dig military movies). Its an amazing story that shows a lot of the struggles of a soldier. But, my favorite part of the entire set is the older guys (vets) talking about the war.

I never get tired of watching this. It is the greatest WWII series I have seen. You feel like your one of Easy Co. As you watch you will find yourself feeling like you are there through it all. Having the origional members of Easy talking about the things they went through was the best idea.
