A great game made even better

Batman: Arkham City is the spectacular follow up to the impressive Batman: Arkham Asylum. The first game confined you to the island and the buildings of the Asylum. In this game, an entire section of the city of Gotham is opened up for you to explore and traverse. An experience that is fun and engaging. The Game of the Year Edition adds the additional Robin and Nighthawk expansions as well as the excellent 'Harley Quinn's Revenge' DLC chapter. The environments are incredible, the gameplay is engaging and fun and all of this contributes to an incredible feeling that you are actually the caped crusader himself. No other superhero game (aside from the prequel) has let you feel so much like the character. Every motion and strike is done with conviction and with the express point of making you feel like Batman. It excells in this. The only negatives are the occasional spikes in difficulty that can creep up on you and the combat can become repetative. The combat utilizes a sort of rythm that feels very rewarding but it can become tedious in especially large engagements. The upgrades and abilities can add variety to this but it doesn't cure it completely. Overall, I had the original version of this game and I had to get the GOTY version to pick up the DLC I had yet to purchase online. For the money, this is one the best games this generation.

    Great Batman Game

It is a very great game for all ages. Highly addicting game that I wish I had bought it when it first came out, but now glad I own the game. Encountering new villains as you progress in the game with new gadgets that help you beat the villains with numerous techniques to defeat them. Puzzling your head when trying to figure out riddles traps & trophies. The plusses are when you beat the basic story line you unlock more features that come in the game such as using Batman: Beyond/ Forever/ Animated/ Dark Night Returns and much others to play your story line oppose to the set batman costume/appearance. Another great feature is switching to Catwoman during story mode once unlocked feature. Overall a very must own game to anyone who loves Batman.

It's a game of the year edition for a reason: great game play, graphics, and open world.

I bought ins for my nephew who has a PS3. He absolutely loved it. Arkham Asylum was a great game, one this one is even better and more in depth. I was hooked on this series and this was my favorite game when it came out. It's a third person game and is a combo of a fight game with various combo moves to do while fighting and also incorporates various puzzles to figure out all while exploring the city. Batman has all kinds of cool gadgets to play with that real make this fun. As a bonus you get to play at certain points of the story as Catwoman.

There isn't much more I can say about this game. It has been voted "Game of the Year", and for good reason! Great gameplay from the opening cut scene all the way to the end. Without a doubt, this game delivers, and in spades. Buy it now.

Only bought it because of the 'Game of the Year' moniker, and I wanted to see what the fuss is all about. Very inventive game, and you have to think from time to time. I prefer first person shooters, but this is a nice diversion.

this game has a lot of great elements of action and stealth and then the side missions finding all of Riddlers trophies makes this an enjoyable game as you can do a lot and is a great length of the game//not short at all

Arkham Asylum was a great game, one of the best when it came out. Arkham City takes the greatness of Arkham Asylum and amplifies it by 10. It has everything that a Batman fan could want in a game. You don't need me to review the game for you because I'm sure you can find out more thorough and professional reviews on any one of a dozen gaming sites. I will say though that the Game of the Year version of Arkham City is the one you should get. Yes, the box art is horrendous but look past that. Unlike Arkham Asylum when you had to download all the extras, Arkham City packs them onto the disc. So if you don't have a PSN account or your internet is really slow...no problem. You get tons of extras such as additional costumes for Batman, Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing. You also get additional challenge maps for all 4 characters + the Catwoman Campaign and Harley Quinn's Revenge which takes place AFTER Arkham City. And you get a code to download a Batman animated movie from PSN. My only gripe is that when I tried to download the movie, I kept getting an error from PSN. Not sure what the problem is, but I don't really care for the movie much. Its in HD so it's almost 5gb of space to fill on my PS3's hard drive anyway. Should you get this game? YES. ***But parents be warned: This is not your children's colorful cartoony Batman. This game is clearly intended for an older audience. Its darker, more violent, and full of adult topics and language that you probably don't want your 8 year old to hear. However, this should not be taken as a criticism of the game. I purchased it for myself. My son will not be playing this game.***

This game has really good visuals and I like how it seems very open. Not too happy with some of the language as I was hoping my 7 year old son would be able to watch me play it. But I realized real quick that I shouldn't play infront of him.... IMO

Clearly, Rocksteady, Paul Dini, Kevin Conroy, and Mark Hamill have made the best Batman game ever. Buy it, especially at this low price.

A lot of fun with great voice acting and good story. Some of the gameplay mechanics can be a bit tricky/difficult, but that's more for completing all the side quests than part of the main game. Highly recommend!

Good: This game has an awesome story and soundtrack. The gameplay is still very intuitive with a few added tweaks. Bad: The additional missions featuring Catwoman feel unpolished and break the flow of the rest of the game. There was a very comfortable number of hidden Riddler trophies in Arkham Asylum but there is a ludicrous amount in Arkham City. Ugly: The city map is crammed with buildings to the degree that it actually detracts from the environment.
