Not a fan of Sci Fi movies or shows but I grew up watching this show.

Had a way too short of lifespan - prefer classic over newer ones

the when I wacth it was good but now that it on blu ray it better

This series was enjoyable to watch. Now it can be enjoyed in HD.

I love the wide screen and the picture is actually very goog

There is missing footage during the episode, THE MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS, on disc 3 of the widescreen version of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - on both the Remastered Collection and Definitive Collection. The issue is being fixed and consumers can get a replacement disc by emailing [email protected]. Consumers should include: 1 - "Battlestar Galactica Classic Collection: BD" in the subject line of their email, 2 - the following text in the body of the email, "I would like to receive a replacement disc for (Disc 3, Episode "The Magnificent Warriors")." Within 24-48 hours, consumers will get a response asking for their mailing address in the United States or Canada. Shortly thereafter, they will receive a postage-paid envelope for them to mail in their disc with the missing footage from THE MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS. 2-3 weeks later they will receive a replacement disc with the complete episode. In my opinion, regarding video quality. 1 - Full Screen version - very good but not excellent. 2 - Widescreen version - below average (and it appears as if was re-mastered by someone other than those who re-mastered the full screen version). Even at $79, I wouldn't say it's worth it nor would I recommend the widescreen version based on picture quality. If this is updated in the future, it will be posted under comments as Best Buy doesn't allow these reviews to be edited once posted.

"Frak" the rest, this release is the best!!! Picked up my set at the local Best Buy last week, since they actually had the best price for this set ($5 less than Amazon). Only got through the contents of the first disc so far, but am impressed by the remastered picture and sound quality. It's definitely an improvement over the older DVD set. This "definitive" edition that comes in the RED COLORED BOX is the version to get if you want to watch it in its original broadcast ratio 1.33:1 (this set also includes the "widescreen" (cropped) version, but being a purist, I'm going to stick to the full frame version). The series still holds up amazingly well, and yes, the battle scenes get repetitive as the series goes on, but I suppose that's part of the charm. A childhood favorite of mine, now to be enjoyed with my own kids...thanks Universal for producing this set!!!

Much has been made of the full screen vs. wide screen versions in terms of preference. I echo what most have related with regard to the full screen version as being preferable in terms of resolution & color. No matter though as both versions are included. Great to be able to see this show in it's best quality since broadcast in 1978. In it's time it was a welcome sci-fi offering with an interesting story. Galactica 1980 rates high on the cheese whiz scale though.

I have been a fan of BSG since I was a kid, and the reboot renewed my love for the series. Now, we finally have the series that started it all in glorious HD! This is the set to own if you want the show as it was meant to be seen. The other version only contains the inferior Widescreen version.

The blue ray version in my opinion is far superior to the DVD version. I like having both the widescreen and standard versions of the series. This set also includes Battlestar Galactica 1980.

Battlestar Galacitca is an epic sci-fi show. A must see for anyone who loves sci-fi. Great show excited to watch in HD with my kids.

If you are a fan of the original Battlestar Galactica series, this is the set you've been waiting for!

This ordinary dvd has provided hours of fun and amusement.
