When I was a kid, my world revolved around "Star Wars." I'd seen it in a theater and was completely blown away. That film got me into any kind of science fiction movie or TV show I could see. "Battlestar Galactica" was like having "Star Wars" in my living room, but it was still different. I remember waiting for weeks to see the 2-hour movie that would launch the series. For a series aimed at kids (at least I think it was), the movie was pretty dark and depressing. Yet, I was hooked! The characters of Apollo, Starbuck, Lucifer, and more were well acted and I will say, well scripted. The visual effects, especially for a TV show of the era, were incredible. The production value was well above most TV shows of the day. The Viper launches and battles against the Cylons were supreme TV for me. This show didn't receive positive feedback or good ratings. I'm glad that the show has been revisited for being a truly fun show. This Blu-ray collection has been restored with high quality picture and sound. I do not know if the show was filmed in 1.85:1, especially since there was a theatrical version released in theaters. Or if the show was recently stretched out to modern 1.78:1 TV aspect ratio. All I know is that the framing of the show looks natural. Sound is very clean and much better than I heard on our tiny 1978 TV back in the day.

This series looks and sounds better than ever on the HD Blu-ray format! For the 45th Anniversary this year in 2023, I went and purchased this set. I was not disappointed at all. This is the widescreen edition only for this series. The other set has both aspect ratios. I prefer the widescreen now over the TV version one. Beautiful transfer, Universal! Also includes the Galactica 1980 series. Nice outer slip box!

They did an excellent job of converting the original letter box version (Full Frame 1.33:1) of Battlestar Galactica an Galactica 1980 to wide screen Bluray version (1080p High-Definition 1.78:1). The purchase was worth the money.

THE ORIGINAL SEASON WAS ENVERY ENJOYABLE, NEEDED MORE SEASONS OF IT, RATHER THE THEN GALACTICA 1980. THE REMASTERING SHOWS WHAT THIS SERIES WAS.

As much as I love the reboot of the series, this will always have a spot in my rotation. Got hooked as a kid and love every minute of it. And Buck Rodgers.

I have long wanted to be able to watch this TV series as it is long since off broadcast and Cable TV, but now I have it and can watch any time I want.

Very Good Blu-ray Collection. I like the original Battlestar Galactica better than the remake.

The remaining of this classic TV show is amazing. Watching the deleted scenes, which have not been remastered, really shows the difference.

This is a great series of old sci-fi that would make the perfect gift for any fan or collector!

Used to watch this series when I was in high school Had a big crush on Dirk Benedict. Still today my husband and I love the original Battlestar Galactica. We enjoy bindge watching movies and tv series

The picture and the sounds are beautiful, especially for a tv show from the late 70s. I have this same set on DVD but there is no comparison. I really enjoy this set on Blu-ray.

Great to finally own on blu ray. Studio even provided a replacement for a well know "bad disc" error on one of the discs. Vibrant and colorful and clear!

I was lucky to get this on sale for $39 because I was about to buy the $35 series which was not a remastered Blu-ray. Very, very happy.

The complete original series of battlestar galactica is great and to have it on blu ray really brings out the vivid colors

Considering when this was aired it was truly ahead of it's time. Good series and nicely done.
