I was drawn to the Beats Executives after trying out a Demo. They had excellent build quality with upgraded earcup padding (Super comfy & dramatically improved audio leakage compared to the Beats Solo). The sound quality is clear with slightly dialed back bass compared to the other Beats line-up, but not by much (Just enough to cater to the "executives" of the world who might not want cranked bass). The noise cancellation works very well although they have a slightly louder hiss than the Bose QC15's or Logitech UE 6000's...but not by much. Once the music begins, it fades away with exception to lower segments of songs. This shouldn't be a deturrent for those who are looking at these headphones (However that will be a decision you'll have to make for yourself). My one issue is that they are not passover; so these will not play without the noise cancellation activated. With all things considered, it was more than enough for me to look over the small shortcoming. These are strong contenders in todays market of competing head phones.

My first Beats. Probably not my last.

As I considered purchasing headphones, I looked at Audio Technica, V-Moda, Sony, Soul, Bose, and Beats. I looked online and in stores, compared reviews, checked different online forums, and tried to get different feedback from people. After about doing this over four to five days, I decided to go with the Beats Executives. Some people will say that for the price of these headphones, you could get something much, much better. However, I think headphones are just like t-shirts. There is no "one size fits all." With that said, compared with the other headphones I looked at, I found these to be comfortable, stylish #I really like the aluminum/black look#, and they seem pretty durable, at least compared with the other Beats models out at the moment. Some of them look like you could snap in half with little effort. I also found these headphones to be very comfortable with my big head #I'm a size 8 fitted for New Era caps#. I think the sound quality and the noise cancellation is good #tested it on an airplane from Atlanta to San Francisco yesterday#, but there is a slight audible "hiss" you'll likely notice during quieter parts of songs. I hardly noticed it at 50% volume #on a first generation iPod#, though someone with more sensitive ears would probably notice it more. Some side note things... You get a pretty nice small carrying case, it comes with a mic/three button control #the three buttons work on Apple devices, but only one works on Android devices#, these headphones use two triple A batteries, and they must be "on" to work #there is no "passive" mode where you can listen with them "off"#. It's true that you are paying for a "name" with Beats, but you are also paying for quality with these headphones. Though as I mentioned before, there is no "one size fits all" with headphones. If you are shopping for headphones, I would not recommend buying these headphones without testing them out at a retail store, but I do recommend trying them out since these are different than previous Beats. To each their own.

I am a 50+ user, these are great headphones. Sound is great! mostly listen to classic rock, but also classical and country. Just listen to Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd and you will be sold! Bass is deep and rich, highs are not tinny. Great product!!!

Very nice headphones from the beats by dre line, unlike the studio's the sound is very well balanced. However, if you prefer to have kicking bass notes, I'd recommend the studios.

Not quite worth the price tag.

Of all the headphone sets I tried at my Best Buy, these were the best by far. Bass and sound quality are excellent, and noise cancellation works well in both directions, on top of being pretty awesome to wear with the aluminum cans complete with the accessories these come with. They also fit well, unlikely to come off without rigorously shaking your head. Thing is, if I spent ~$300 on these, I shouldn't be expected to spend more on batteries. Also, I can see where the sound cancellation hiss can be irritating. And for everything positive you get, they're still not quite worth the tag even at the $30 discount. My $100 urBeats are almost as good with sound quality and don't require batteries or sound cancellation to work - the lattermost of which can't be turned off on the Executives. If you have some cash to spend carelessly, this might be something I could point you to. While I don't believe Beats is just a brand, I think they got a little careless with this set and relied too heavily on the stylish design with the iconic 'b' on the cans to sell these.

Best Looking headphones on the market

Besides the Fact that my "new" head phones may have been used, they are the best by far heard phones to listen to, I had the Pros before and the executives do not sound better then them but feels and look a lot better, and stronger. The hissing sound everyone talks about, no one hears it at all once the music starts. They are truly amazing

    Only hipsters dislike Beats...

So I have the Bose IE2's which are in-ears primarily used for the gym and they have been great so I figured I would get the QC15's for study/leisure/travel purposes. I listen to all types of music : hip-hop, country, classic rock, house, etc. The Bose left me with a serious case of buyer's remorse. They simply didn't get loud enough and the treble/mids sounded like they were from a speaker set being played 50ft away down a hallway. Many of those claiming to be "audiophiles"(hipsters?) say that the Beats are a gimmick and over-hyped but I have to disagree. These Beats have the perfect balance of treble-mids-bass and it works for most genres that I have sampled. I also like the Executives because they aren't as flashy or "toy" looking as many of the other Beats models. Cheers!

I finally got a great pair of headphones, which is what I always wanted just as soon as I got the chance!! After about 40 minutes of Sampling a wide variety, The Beats Executives Won out.. Put it this way, they are so nice that I am getting a less expensive pair for my everyday use and The Execs will only come out on Special Occasions!!!!!! Love Them....

I love these headphones. Very steady and well built compared to the studios. They sound superb and to me is worth the $300. Don't listen to the negative reviews. Unless you're a sound snob that has super sonic ears then I don't think you would tell how other earphones can compare. Good for casual listeners with good ears to beats.

Executives built well outside, cheap inside parts

After 2nd pair of Beat Executives, I am giving up and going to another brand. They fit extremely well, and don't loosen on your head like the Bose Ae2w. Also have the Beats Wireless and haven't had any problems with them. I have had the same problem with 2 pairs, and that was an extremely high pitch squeal in the left side. (deafening squeal, not something that is just an annoyance, but something you can hear with the headphones off also). It started happening about 3 1/2 months after I purchased the headphones. Normally Best Buy, with something this new and with a manufacture defect will just exchange them out and send them back to the manufacturer, since it would be no money out of their pocket. NOPE, they used the warranty for the 3 1/2 month old Beats Executives and made me purchase another warranty for $39.99. There was no proration of the warranty, so BEWARE. If you purchase these and they WILL FAIL, and every time they do fail, you will pay an extra $39.99 to replace them IF YOU HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. They also are very weak on the noise canceling. No where as good as the Bose. Try them out in the store before you purchase.

    Great Headphones

Overall, these headphones are great. They have decent noise cancelation(nowhere compared to bose) but it sometimes gives me a headache. If the chord twists in the jack of the headphones at all the music will stop playing in 1 ear, which really gets annoying sometimes,

    Not a Monster Product

Back when Beats was owned by Monster the headphones were awesome but since the separation the Monster technology isnt there. Beats is now suffering on sound. I'd rather buy Skull Candy ... But i won't. Now the Monster DNA are awesome and sound great but to be in the same price range i'd buy the Monster Inspiration headphones, now those are Noise canceling and sound like studio quality. Dont waste your time buying Beats .... Buy the quality that started it all " Monster Cable" if its not made by Monster dont buy it cause its just cheap Beats

    300$ for a constant hiss?!

these r built extremely well with aluminum but when you pay 300$ you expect good sound too. the quality of the sound is good if you can get over the constant static in the background that never goes away (beats version of noise canceling) i exchanged for the sony x and cant be happier. not quite built as well but when it comes to comfort and sound the comparison is night and day.

Defective - Noise in Left Ear

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I took them back and got the Bose QC-15. The Dr. Dre Beats Executive had good sound quality but the noise cancelation sound output was obvious and the left ear had a sizzling sound and was not constant either. I also found that the noise cancelation was not that effective compared to the Bose.
