One by one my Airport Express units were failing. Decided to start replacing them with something, found this Belkin Audio Adapter. Works perfectly, I now have Airplay2 capabilities, something the Airport Express did not. Happy with purchase, however at $100, won’t be purchasing the next one until on they are on sale.

For the modern day TV that don't have a headphone jack; this is the way to go. Hook up your soundform audio adapter and not disturb others while watching your show. This is why I got the adapter; but there are many more things it could be used for.

This is exactly what you’re looking for if you want older tech to interface with the new bougie Apple stuff. I was gifted an Apple TV 4K recently and used a couple HomePods I already had as a “stereo pair”. Worked great loved the sound quality, but it did not work with the Samsung soundbar I already had. The Belkin sound form solves that problem and then some. Now my soundbar interfaces seamlessly with airplay. While it isn’t true surround sound, the sound does fill the room much better. For reference the soundbar is in front of my tv and the HomePods I’m using are on a console table behind my couch mimicking surround sound. Suffice all this to say if you’re looking for a cheap “surround sound” experience and don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for it. This helps greatly

The item works with Apple home kit. It is easy to set up and you can send audio to it from any Apple device in your home network. I can even send audio from the 4K Apple TV while watching movies for a surround sound effect.

The Belkin Soundform Connect Audio adapter with Airplay 2 is designed to allow you to stream music to an otherwise antiquated sound system and it does! I installed the app, downloaded an update, and connected through Apple Home (for some reason I had difficulty connecting through the Belkin app) but nothing happened. The app indicated that the Soundform was playing but I wasn't getting any sound.I deleted and reinstalled the app several times but still no success. I chose Amazon Music, but it just would not connect with the Belkin Soundform. I also tried changing my bluetooth settings, etc - but still nothing. The instructions are poorly written. Mine included 5 steps, and an extra page with a "step 3" that was identical to the page three in my instructions. Before I let frustration set in, I googled the product and found the missing step. Not mentioned was the fact that you need to go into your music source settings and select "air play". I guess I should have known this, given the name of the product! Once this was resolved, the device worked through the Belkin app and I was able to remove it from Apple Home. This is a great device to be able to stream music to an older stereo system. I had previously been using a lightning cable to RCA and although now I'm still using cables, I no longer have to leave my phone connected to the stereo system. Range and sound quality both seem good! My biggest gripe is with the volume from the analog output. I had to turn my phone volume up all the way AND double/triple the volume on the receiver to be able to hear anything. Using the optical cable might produce different results but all of the devices I have with an optical connection are also bluetooth. At $80-100, this seems a little pricey when there are bluetooth to RCA adapters for sale for substantially less, which would probably accomplish the same thing. Hopefully Belkin addresses the issue of volume output, or releases a model with a volume knob. I contacted Belkin support and they responded within a couple hours indicating that they were aware of the issue and it was something they were looking into. Hats off to them for the quick response and the ability to recognize a potential issue! I love the compact size which makes it easy to hide on a shelf, or tuck under the receiver. Included is a 4' USB adapter for power, however it does not include the 3.5mm or optical cables (so make sure you have one). The Belkin Soundform works as described and overall I'm pleased. I can deal with the volume issues until (hopefully) they issue a hardware update.

Quick and easy upgrade to any older sound system

If you have a sound system that predates AirPlay or are looking to update to AirPlay 2, this might be the way to go. Setup is easy. It kind of works like the AirPods where you just need to bring your phone near the SoundForm device and your phone should detect and lead you through setup instructions automatically. If that doesn't work, they also let you scan a code within the Home app as well but the first setup method worked great for me. You have the option of connecting to your audio system via optical cable or 3.5mm jack so it's fairly versatile there (I'm a little sad that it doesn't actually COME with one of these cables so make sure you have one handy) Once your set up it's just like AirPlaying to any other natively supported device. Just play some audio on your phone or ipad and select AirPlay to direct it at your new SoundForm. Everything sounds great. Not sure more to say about this one. If you have a more modern stereo system, you might not need this, but even AirPlay enabled devices still could use an upgrade to AirPlay 2 which allows for simucasting to multiple devices at the same time. If an upgrade is what you're looking for, you probably won't find one as simple as this.

Very nice tool to update my Denon receiver. For under $100 I was able to update my electronics and enjoy new technology on a 2011 receiver. I would never upgrade a high dollar item that is in great shape, and I believe has a better build quality than today’s offering, for a feature of convenience. Great purchase and it can be utilized on all three zones.

The SoundForm concept is great but with poor execution. I don’t know if a firmware update is possible but as of February 27th 2022 the analog out send a very low signal. I tried the app also and nothing makes it better. On the positive side, connection to the network was a breeze and all devices recognize SoundForm. Good luck!

airplay2 your elderly audio receiver !

Having fully adopted the Apple mobile ecosystem I really wanted a wireless way to connect to my old Onkyo receiver which I relocated to the garage. As a matter of fact, my old receiver was replaced by a new Onkyo receiver a few years back due to the plethora of connection options in the newer receiver (Airplay, Bluetooth, Spotify Direct, SiriusXM direct and a few others). So, I unboxed my old receiver, hooked up a few speakers and used the Belkin SoundForm Connect Audio Adapter with Airplay 2 to play audio content on my older receiver. Setup was straightforward using the NFC (Near Field Communications) chip in newer iPhones to setup the audio adapter. It did take one or two tries for my phone to recognize the device (by basically touching the phone to the area marked on the adapter), perhaps the iPhone case interfered with it a bit, but I essentially believe this is the same technology which powers ApplePay. In any case I had to use the Apple Homekit app to configure the connection, renaming the device to something that made sense to me. Once I established this Airplay2 audio adapter on my Wireless network I was able to play music through it from any of my Apple Devices. Instantly my 20+ year old receiver was once again modern. I opted for using the optical output connection (instead if the 3.5 mini jack) since my receiver did not have that particular input available (without buying some adapters), besides the optical output is a true digital signal. Airplay works flawlessly and sounds perceptively better than even the most modern Bluetooth connectivity standards. It is nice not having the limitations of range associated with Bluetooth, as long as you are connected to your wireless network then Airplay just works. Pros: - Revitalized my old A/V receiver - Better than Bluetooth sound quality - Works flawlessly with iOS devices - Fairly easy setup for newer iOS device (that are NFC capable) Cons: - None yet.

Good product, Belkin should have included cables

I will preface my thoughts by saying that Belkin absolutely should have included an optical and 3.5 mm cable with the device. These are not common cables that everyone has multiple of just laying about in their house. These are rather specialized cables (especially the optical) that most people don’t have. Getting this device and then realizing that you don’t have any immediate way to connect it is a total buzzkill. I cannot overemphasize this enough - for $99, the cables need to be included. Okay, now I had a rather specific use case scenario for this - I wanted to connect it to my first generation Sonos Connect in order to pipe AirPlay 2 audio from my iDevice into my various in-ceiling speakers via my Control4 home automation system. And, it works! But, I got lucky in terms of just happening to have the specific audio cable at home - a 3.5 mm to RCA (red and white) cable. The 3.5 mm went into the Belkin and the RCA went into the Sonos Connect. In a weird twist of fate, it just so happens that the specific cable that I needed and happened to have at home was made by Belkin, though I don’t remember the reason why I had that specific cable in the first place. Anyway, once you have everything connected and setup, the Belkin shows up as an AirPlay 2 destination in your iDevice’s audio output picker. And, it just works. So, Belkin if you’re reading this, please include the cables in your next iteration of this product.
