Wish I could get it to work with my Mac Mini I5

I received the Belkin - SoundForm Connect Audio Adapter with Airplay 2 – Black as a review item. Unfortunately for me, I read that it would work with a soundbar or home theater/receiver. I have both of those and a Mac Mini I5 (late 2014). I thought I could connect the mini to either the soundbar or receiver via the home app in OsX. I tried to connect, but the app doesn’t see the SoundForm adapter. It does see all my Firesticks and Roku’s, but no adapter. I read a bunch of articles thinking I was doing something wrong, but everything I’ve found says I need an iPhone or iPad to connect. That being the case, I’ll review what I’m able to.
The package for starters isn’t great. I tend to like to reuse original boxes for small items like the adapter and this one isn’t designed for that. The green insert is difficult to take out and to reuse it would be frustrating. I’ll just throw out the insert and drop the adapter in the box for storage. It does come with a 110v power supply and USBc to USBA cable, so that’s a plus. However, it lacks an optical and/or 3.5mm cable, so be sure to have one on hand or pick one up.
Finally, I really did want this to work with my mini. I have it connected to my home theater in the den and use it to stream audio and video from my main Windows 11 desktop in the office. The setup works great, and I thought having the ability to stream to portable speakers like my Bose or Sony would be useful around the house. Sadly, I can’t get it to show up on my Home app within OsX Monterey. I even tried it again tonight before typing out this review, just hoping it would appear. I’ll box it up until I get an iPad as I doubt, I’ll ever switch from Android…but you never know. I can’t say if I would recommend this to a friend since I haven’t gotten to use it with an iOs or OsX system, but I’ll mark that I would as most Belkin items do exactly as described or so I’ve experienced.

Weird that every time this is on, my speakers are cutting in and out intermittently. I researched my Bose lifestyle if I can change the channel

Returned did not have the code to pair the device and required Wi-Fi to pair it. I don’t have Wi-Fi in the area I needed to use it so it wouldn’t work for me.

The Belkin - SoundForm Connect Audio Adapter with Airplay 2 - Black offers Apple Airplay for those wishing to use the features outside their cars. At home or in the office, you can turn your stereo/speakers into a smartphone-friendly device.
I found this item to be a bit confusing at first with the need to use at least 2 cords to get power and to send the signal to the speakers. While this is not terrible, it can get cumbersome with extra cords lying around. Also, you do not gain the features of an in-car dash display and still need to use your phone for controls such as selecting apps. I really do not see the purpose or value for this item for my needs.
PROS
- Belkin brand, quality, and design
- Easy setup
- Audio options, 3.5mm or optical outputs
CONS
- Adds extra cords to your area that seems counterintuitive in a wireless/Bluetooth world.
I would recommend this product for anyone without Bluetooth speakers, however.

I would say that I have an atypical use case for this device, which it fulfills perfectly. I have a very complicated whole-house audio system - 9 Sonos zones plus a few stand-alone vintage stereo systems. I also use a Roon server which is a fantastic thing on its own but adds a very useful feature for my setup. Normally, you can only group Sonos speakers with other Sonos speakeres. So adding the vintage stereos to the whole-house system is only possible if I buy a very pricey Sonos Port for each stand-alone system. However - Roon lets you connect to Sonos devices using AirPlay 2. Since AirPlay 2 lets you connect together as many speakers/systems as you want, I use this Belkin device to connect to my vintage stereos using AirPlay 2 and then I can also connect all my Sonos devise and voila! whole house music over every speaker and system controlled by the Roon app rahter than the Sonos app. I use the optical digital connection on the Belkin and have not tried the 3.5mm output.
Only minor glitch was that it was not clear that you need a recent iOS device to set up the Belkin. We have Android phones, but luckily we have a recent iPad and was able to use that for setup. Once it's set up, you don't need to do anything else with your iOS device.
Sound quality via the optical output is 44.1/16 and sounds good.

Handy Device to Connect to non-Bluetooth Speakers

This little gem is perfect for wirelessly connecting your audio source to speakers that do not have a Bluetooth connection. However, you do have to connect this device to the audio-output device/speakers, either with an optical cable or a 3.5mm cable. This device is powered using its USB-C port. You can connect to multiple speakers using the Belkin Soundform app (free).
I used an IPAD and the setup was simple. Once configured, you use the IOS Home app to ensure the output from the IPAD is not to the internal speakers but rather to the Belkin Soundform device. A tip you may need is: I didn’t switch the audio output from the IPAD speakers at first. After a bit of thinking I realized my error and did the correct connection. I tested both the 3.5mm jack connection type and the optical cable connection type and both worked flawlessly. It does only work with IOS devices.
I do recommend this device if you need to connect multiple speakers and/or speakers that you don’t want to have a physical wire between the audio-output source and the speakers.

I received the Soundform Connect for free to review and I highly recommend it! I have a Philips Hi-Fi stereo system and wanted a simple way to stream music via AirPlay 2 . The Soundform Connect was very easy and quick to set up. After setup, the music sounded crisp and the connection was strong, especially considering the size of the device. Overall, the Soundform Connect is a great, hassle-free way to stream audio to a traditional stereo system for a decent price.

The Belkin Soundform Connect Audio Adapter with Airplay 2 is just what you need to bring your music to older systems. If you don’t have WiFi or Bluetooth this system will allow you to connect your Apple device to it. There is no discernable difference in the play back. There was a small hick-up with installation. We still got it installed after a few tries. We had to switch to a new iPad Pro to complete the installation, there was no documentation that stated it had to be a newer model Apple device. The system did not come with any cables so, ensure you have what you need to.
If you need to playback to an older system this device is well worth the money, time, and effort to install.
I would recommend this product to family and friends.

I recently received the SoundForm Connect Audio Adapter with Airplay 2 to use with my older AVR to add airplay. the unit comes with a small receiver that is 2" x 2", USB power cord and power block. There is an Optical digital output and a minijack output to send the sound to your amp or AVR. Setup is easy and quick with your iPhone.
Once set up is complete you will find the unit as one of the airplay selections on your iPhone. It works without any fuss. I really like this unit's ability to adapt older equipment into modern technology.

I have a 15 year old very nice 7.1 channel home theater system. But I’m recent years, I tend to play my music to Bluetooth or Airplay devices. If something needs to go from my phone through the speakers, I have to push it through the AppleTV. It’s a pain.
Enter this tiny, lightweight, two port device from Belkin. Plug it into the optical audio jack on the receiver and POOF! Airplay for my 7.1! Never thought that could happen. It’s seamless and easy to set and forget.

The Belgian SoundForm is a small unit that will allow you to send a wireless audio signal to your standard audio component system. You connect to the SoundForm via Bluetooth, then hardwire the SoundForm to your audio component via the 3.5mm jack or Digital Audio jack. The unit works well after it’s setup. I did not give it 5 stars because it was different for me to setup. It says you can simply place your iPhone near the unit after it’s connected and powered on. My iPhone never connected to it wirelessly. In the instructions, it says if that fails then you can use the Apple Home app to manually add it as an accessory. When I tried scanning the code on the bottom of the unit, the Home app was not able to focus on the printed font. I guess it had a difficult time trying to focus on the light colored font on top of the black finish. The font is very small as well. I then found a way to set it up manually without having to scan the code. Once I finally had it working, I was good to go. I think the setup process can use a bit more refinement.

I received a free sample of the SoundForm Connect Audio Adapter to review and I overall enjoyed this product. This product was simple to use and makes your everyday speaker compatible with apple airplay. While this does reduce costs by not having to buy selectively apple speaker, I do think this product is priced fairly high at $99. That being said, it does the job well. The range seems to be significantly better than typical bluetooth range.

I received this item as a free product to review and I was very impress with the quality and performance. The sheer size of the adapter was perfect, love how portable it is and it can be placed anywhere. I do wish it had more color options and not just the standard colors.

I received this Belkin Soundform Connect, and thought that it would be handy in our garage. We have an older Altec Lansing speaker system out there that we have been using an adaptor (lightning to headphone jack) on to plug our phone into, to play music while working in the garage. Obviusly this ties our phone to the speakers, which is inconvenient if we receive a call or otherwise need it. The setup was very simple. I did need to download the Home app, but once I did the app found the device immediately and it was easy to send my music/podcast/etc by selecting it thorugh Airplay. It is also nice to be able to adjust the volume with my phone and not have to walk over to fiddle with the knobs. Volume and clarity were fine for our use- which again is during garage use and connected to an older speaker (covered in some sawdust, in fact), so I can't speak to whether it provides truly high quality sound. It was disappointing that it didn't come with a simple audio cable- luckily we had one but it would have been frustrating to get it home and find out you still had to buy a cord.

I received this device in exchange for providing a thoughtful and honest review. Overall, I think the product is good. My biggest complaint is that the instillation/set-up is not intuitive. When following the instructions, it took a bit of time and playing around in order to get my phone to sync and work with the adapter. Aside for the set-up I would recommend the product. I didn't pay for this, but if I were to purchase, I think the price point is a bit high for what it does. If you are in need of this type of adaptor, this is a solid product.

Once set up, the device does exactly what it is supposed to do, in terms of sending audio over AirPlay. There is little to no delay between devices and I was able to use my iPad on a completely different floor without loss. The setup, however, was not entirely intuitive. The physical connection was easy, but it took several attempts to setup the accessory in my iPad.

This is such a great piece! I currently have 5 of these connected to my MartinLogan MDA16 distributed amp. Each of these are assigned to a zone so I can easily Airplay to whatever zone I'm in, and my wife the same. Also, since these are Airplay 2, I can link all of the zones together and control volume independently if we're entertaining and want to fire up all zones together. Such an awesome piece to add to a whole home audio system.
