I thought I had to call 9-1-1 in order to get an ambulance when the initial reading was unbelievably way too high! After numerous readings and comparing them to my old Omron wrist, and Nokia BPM Connect I found that this just-out-of-the-box item was generating highly inaccurate readings no matter how you optimally set your wrist and retake the readings it was still way, way off the charts! Because I cannot trust the accuracy of this device I returned! When it comes to maintaining my health, I need to ensure that the health device I'm buying must provide me with reasonably accurate readings. This specific item needed to be returned. I continue to rely on the old Omron wrist and the Nokia BPM Connect along with their shortcomings

The Beurer BC57 is your typical wrist monitor. Out of the box everything you need is included with the batteries. Love that it doesn't need to be plugged into the wall.
My first impression: Putting the batteries in was difficult, the space is located behind the wrist strap and leaves you little space to make sure you have the batteries in the correct way. Then you get the little flap closed and flip it over and your time is limited to do set up. It took a couple times to finally catch this and do the set up of the time. Speaking of the time, make sure you pay attention to AM versus PM or it will not work with your phone.
Make sure you are seated in a comfortable position when doing your reading, don't lay down as it notes in the instruction book or your reading will be off the wall. Your arm needs to be positioned correctly. I myself have lower blood pressure. My first readings were fine, my arm was slightly turned and it was reading super high and startled me. I did it again re-positioning my arm and it was normal again. My spouse usually has the much higher blood pressure. This will come in handy for the both of us.
Another nice thing is the case it comes with. If you plan to travel or just need to take it with you, pack it up and take it with you. It won't take up much space at all and you can use it while you are gone. Nice that it's not corded and so big like a few I have had in the past.
So aside from the issue of where you put the batteries in, not sure if they could design this any other way. This is definitely a great product and worth the price. You won't be unhappy with it at all.

Decent connected BPM with HealthCoach app

The setup for the device is fairly straightforward, although I did have to run through setup 3 times before I setup the Bluetooth correctly. User error here for the most part. This process could be a bit more intuitive. The battery cover took me a little bit to figure out the correct way to open it. I ended up looking in the manual to make sure I was doing it right as I didn't want to break it. A little graphic on the cover would be helpful.
Installing the HealthCoach app from the app store was pretty painless, and it has an option to continue without registering, which I like. The HealthCoach app has several devices it can connect to besides the BPM. There is an option for Scale, Activity, Sleep, Pulse Ox, and Temperature. Guessing those are other Beurer devices.
Once the device and app are setup, the automatic syncing works well. It has 2 users it can keep memory for and you can review the results in the app. It shows a plotted graph and timeline of your measurements over time.
The device comes with a nice carrying case that is molded plastic. The device is pretty compact too. The screen is easy to read and there are only 2 buttons, so it's pretty easy to operate. I've heard that these kind of devices aren't as accurate as the full arm cuff devices, but I believe they provide a decent level of accuracy for keeping an eye on your BP over time.
Overall it appears to be a solid product. I think a couple things could be a bit more intuitive during setup, but other than that it works well. It's fairly quiet and takes measurements quickly.

Convenient and easy to use blood pressure monitor.

The Beurer Bluetooth wrist blood pressure monitor is a super convenient and easy-to-use blood pressure monitor for anyone who is looking for a quick and easy way to check their blood pressure and to keep track of it. The accompanying application keeps track of your blood pressure and allows you to input additional health metrics to get a better idea of your health and more specifically your blood pressure.
Unfortunately, for me at least, the biggest disadvantage is the need for yet another application for another device. I would have loved to see this natively integrate with Apple or Google health apps or to at least have the option of sending the data to those applications so that I can have one place for all of my health data. This unfortunately does not do that and I feel that is a big letdown and is something that I would like to see addressed in an update. One other downside is the setup for the device itself, with only 2 buttons on the device setting all of the information is a complete pain and the instructions aren't much help for this as well. I think the option to set up using the application would help this process but I don't know if this is something that can be accomplished over Bluetooth.
Overall this is a good device with a few shortcomings that make the initial setup and daily use more complicated than it should be, but it works well and is easy to use so as a blood pressure check it does what it is supposed to do.

Okay cuff, confusing instructions

Let me start with the basics. The instructions are very confusing to follow. Basic setup was easy enough, however trying to set up the bluetooth was an exercise in futility. I never got to the point where my phone actually recognized the cuff. I finally noticed that the app was registering the blood pressure readings so apparently there was a connection.
The cuff is not difficult to use, certainly easier than some conventional cuffs that I've tried. That said, placement seems to be a bit finicky and changing the position just a little can impact the pressure reading. I have found a position which generates results similar to my last physical a few days ago. I figure that it might be close to an ideal placement.
Although the cuff seems to be reasonably accurate, the confusing instructions and finicky positioning downgrade my rating.

I’m only in my early 40s. Ideally, I should not need a blood pressure monitor. But after stress related irregularity in heartbeats, and some cardio checks, and maybe some horrible DNA, I was advised to keep a regular check on my blood pressure. I thought it would be a task to do so—not with this blood pressure monitor.
Gone are the days when blood pressure monitors are encased in big aluminum cans. This device makes blood pressure monitoring fast, easy and efficient. Just by itself, the device is great. I open it up, slap the device on my wrist, and in a minute, I have my blood pressure information. It is accurate, as it matches the heart data I have on my wearables. It is compact, and convenient to use.
Then comes the app. This device comes with bluetooth and I can hook it up with my phone given I download the free app. I did have some issues with bluetooth pairing and it does take some getting used to hooking it with my phone, even with the supplemental instructions that came with the device. But once I got it working, it was easy. As soon as it reads my blood pressure, and while my app is open on my phone, I press the button to activate the bluetooth and it uploads the data automatically. Like I said, the device in itself already is good, but the app gives that added functionality. I do not have to log my reads—it is all logged in the app and I can easily show it to my doctor. It can take multiple users too (up to 2) so I can share this device with my partner.
Now it seems like you have to be “sick” to have one. But in this time and age, stress is normal and being proactive with health is a norm. With the convenience of this device, it does not hurt, and is even advantageous, to have one. I have learned in time that it is tougher to cure oneself once your health has been hit badly, but the benefits of a being on top of your health is exponential. I recommend this to every middle aged person out there.

Wrist monitors like this one are small, convenient to carry with you on trips, but must be used exactly as directed or the readings are worthless. I found the Beurer BC57 blood pressure monitor to be accurate provided you operate it as illustrated in the manual, sitting down with the unit at your heart level.
The Bluetooth feature worked effortlessly. You download the Beurer HealthCoach app (there are many Beurer apps available, made sure you download the “HealthCoach” one). The reading then transferred via Bluetooth to the app without any other setup required.
The only negatives are mainly with the instruction manual that’s packed with the unit. The manual doesn’t explain clearly that you have only a few seconds to get into SETUP mode after you first put in the batteries. Then you can set the time, date, and turn Bluetooth on or off. The ONLY way to get to ‘setup’ AGAIN at a future time is to pull the batteries and start all over.
Some of the instructions in the manual are conflicting, and some are just plain wrong. The manual states and shows an illustration saying you should use your LEFT wrist. Another sentence says you can use either. Since I wear a watch on my left wrist, it’s more convenient to use my right one, but calling tech support I learned you can use either wrist, but it may be more accurate to use your left because it’s closer to your heart. (I guess I’ll be taking my watch off.)
What was just plain WRONG is where in the manual it states you can take readings either sitting up or lying down. I tried it lying down and the readings were all over the chart. Calling technical support again, I was told the unit would NOT be accurate at all when lying down, and he’d try to get that statement removed from the manual. As the illustration shows, you must take readings while sitting with your feet on the floor and unit at heart level.
All that being said, once you understand how to set up the Beurer BC 57 and understand how to use it properly, it would be a helpful tool for your health, and at 50 bucks, it’s a value.

This wrist BP cuff is so much easier to use than the conventional BP cuff that goes on the upper arm. And it's accurate. I'm getting the same range of readings with this wrist cuff that I got with my conventional upper arm cuff.
The other thing that's great about this wrist cuff is the HealthCoach app that can be downloaded on your android or apple phone. It allows your BP readings to be transferred from the wrist cuff monitor to your phone. No more keeping a manual log of readings. I have an android phone and initially I had trouble getting my readings to transfer. It was because I didn't understand initially how it works. If you buy one of these once you've completed the initial setup I highly recommend you read and reread Section 10 pages 23 - 27 that explains data display and transfer. Once I understood exactly how it works, I had no problem at all getting the readings transferred to the app on my phone.
If you need or want to take your BP readings on a regular basis this Beurer Bluetooth Wrist BP monitor is definitely the way to go. It's easy to use and very competitively priced.

Good but READ TESTING CONDITIONS

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Beurer BC57 blood pressure monitor does a great job of being portable and easy to use regarding just getting the reading. After setup, you press the power button and wait. This device does the job, but it is only as good as the end user's ability to "test" properly. There are many different ways to throw this off, so you will NEED to read all the requirements carefully to get an accurate reading.
The setup process is straightforward. The app is elementary and serves more of a journal or log of your readings, in my opinion. The BC57 has a power save feature if you forget to turn it off after 3 minutes, so it will help you from killing the battery, which I like. The packaging touts Google Fit integration, but there are NO readings to view in Google Fit. HOWEVER, I was able to get it to sync up with Samsung Health and import my readings automatically, which is REALLY cool. This should be added to the box as well.
FOR SAMSUNG HEALTH INTEGRATION: after Bluetooth is enabled on the BC57, open Samsung Health, tap settings, tap accessories, and then scan for accessories where you will find BC57 to register.
In short, this is a nice piece to have at home and does the job, but you need to be aware of all the things that could create a false reading to keep things accurate.

Usable but much learning required

The Beurer BC57 is the first wrist blood pressure monitor I have tried. I have been using an upper arm monitor by Microlife that saves data via a USB cable to my laptop, and I was hoping that the Beurer wrist model with Bluetooth connectivity to a Beurer phone app would be more convenient.
Unfortunately, I found that the Buerer BC57 was not particularly easy to use. The initial setup involves inserting two provided batteries into the BC57. The LCD then flashes various displays (12/24 hour clock, date, Bluetooth) that you can adjust with the M (memory) button and save with the (|) (power) button. An intrinsic downside of having a piece of technology with only two buttons is that the buttons must serve multiple purposes in different contexts, and it can be difficult to remember what each button does in different situations. This was evident in initial setup, as the M (memory) button, which is indeed associated with "remembering" (that is, storing information into memory) when you take your blood pressure, is used for scrolling through options during setup. It is also used to remember or recall the average blood pressure from one of two memory storage areas, M1 or M2. By continuing to press the M button, you can get an average for morning or evening measurements, and then individual measured values (up to 60 stored values). Furthermore, you use the M button to abort a Bluetooth transfer of information from the device to the phone app. It is going to take a lot of practice and referring to the manual to learn to use the M and (|) buttons correctly.
Back to the initial setup. The first time after I inserted the batteries, I took too long to put the lid back on over the battery storage area, and the LCD display went blank. So, I had to remove the batteries and begin again. I then made a mistake of thinking the date was the time setting, so I entered the wrong values. There was no way to go back and correct my mistake, so I had to take out the batteries and begin again. On my third try, I got to the last setting, Bluetooth, and the instructions told me that there should be a flashing Bluetooth sign and a display of "bt". But there was no flashing sign, just the letters BT. I assumed (incorrectly) that Bluetooth was enabled. I discovered that it was not when my first try at taking my blood pressure did not send the results to the Beurer app via Bluetooth. Once more, I had to remove the batteries and do all of the settings again to enable Bluetooth.
I then did another trial run and successfully measured my blood pressure and saved the results to the app. The reading seemed high to me, but I figured that was a function of the stress of trying to set up the monitor and software. I took another reading, and it was a little lower, similar to readings at my doctor's office. So the measurement appeared to be accurate.
The real test, though, was the next morning when I could compare readings from the BC57 to readings from my Microlife upper arm cuff. I use Microlife's option to take three successive readings and average them to increase reliability. The averaged reading was 113/72. I then took several successive readings with the BC57. I can't report the exact results, because they failed to transfer automatically to the phone app as they were supposed to. But I can say that they were all much higher and all over the place, the systolic readings from 130-something to 150-something and the diastolic readings from 80-something to 90-something. According to the Mayo Clinic, wrist readings are often higher and less accurate than upper-arm readings, and this seems to be true for the BC57.
If you want to export information saved with the phone app, you can create a PDF with all stored information. I find this a little less convenient than the export from my Microlife upper arm cuff, which allows export to a CSV file that can be further analyzed with spreadsheet programs and other apps. Still, at least there is a way to export information.
In conclusion, I think that the BC57 has potential to be a useful blood pressure monitor, especially for travelling because it is portable and has a nice carrying case. However, there is a steep learning curve associated with using the device, and your readings might be slightly higher than your actual blood pressure.
