The Beurer Bluetooth wrist blood pressure monitor is just like most wrist type blood pressure monitors. One feature that stands out in this monitor is that you may link it to your phone via Bluetooth and the health coach app. Once linked to your phone the results are transferred and stored in the app so that you may share them with your doctor. Many people prefer the wrist type monitors due to their convenience and ease of use. Unfortunately I did find that the meter was inconsistent in providing it's blood pressure readings. I compared the readings with a traditional cuff styles blood pressure monitor and found the readings to be highly inconsistent. I did follow all the directions on getting a proper reading on the wrist monitor however I noticed that no 2 readings were consistently close or accurate. I will continue to use this monitor for a few days to see if the results are more accurate however I believe you would be better of purchasing one of Beurer's traditional fully automatic arm cuff blood pressure monitors

    Accurate readings, bluetooth needs work

Both of my parents have high blood pressure, and although I stay physically active and try to eat healthy, my blood pressure is near the pre-hypertension stage. For this reason, I wanted to regularly check my blood pressure. Typically, wrist blood pressure monitors are not as accurate as traditional blood pressure monitors, but I've taken my blood pressure using a traditional monitor and compared it to this wrist monitor, and the readings were about the same. This gave me confidence on this wrist monitor. I have used this for a little over two weeks now, and I am very happy with its portability, the easy of us, and the design. The one thing I wish would work as described is the connection to the iPhone app. I updated my iPhone to the new iOS, and I don't know if this is what is causing issues with connectivity, but I can't connect this via Bluetooth and so that's a bummer. I am okay with this, but since I wasn't able to get it connected I am only giving 4/5 stars. Maybe Beurer will provide an update in the future so it can work with newer version of the iPhone software. Yes, I would recommend this and I will actually be getting one for my dad!

Took this blood pressure wrist cuff back. Kept reading inconsistently. Started not trusting it and using my arm one. Just overall did not like it.

I’m going to keep this review much briefer than my usual reviews. Not because it doesn’t deserve a lengthy, in-depth review…but, because it doesn’t need on. However, I will (very briefly) return to a modified version of my old “good, bad & ugly” review format. THE GOOD: First, the Beurer Bluetooth Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor is very simple to use. Because it’s a wrist-mounted device, as opposed to the ‘medical’ units which have a cuff that goes around your upper arm, the person doing the reading can put it on – it’s a very quick/easy one-handed process. Second…and, this is what I like most about this this…is that it uses an app, which you can install on your Android/iOS device. The data is transferred (via Bluetooth) to the device, which allows the user(s) (I’ll get to this in a second) to keep a running record of their readings, and bring them to their doctor. Additionally, the app (under ‘More’) has an “export” function, allowing the user(s) to export the data, to which they can print out the records, to give to their doctor. And, finally, the third thing is that the unit can keep records for up to two people…and, they can have their data (and not the other person’s) transferred to their own phone/tablet. Of course, that also means each person must have the app installed on their own phone, AND they must have their own account. THE BAD: It’s is a simple device, designed to do one simple thing – take, and record, your blood pressure – and, unfortunately, it doesn’t do it very well. That’s not to say it doesn’t “do it”…it just “doesn’t do it very well”. In truth, it’s not as much Beurer’s fault, as it is the design. Monitoring from the wrist has always been “problematic”. My wife works in healthcare (10+ years at Kaiser), so she’s extremely familiar with blood pressure monitoring devices. The most accurate are, and (probably) always will be, those that go around your upper arm. However, all is not lost. So, what, exactly, is the ‘problem’? first, measuring blood pressure from the wrist can be overly tricky, as positioning the monitor correctly can be quite difficult on the wrist. This is a “fault” of ALL wrist-mounted monitors, thus the reason I said, earlier, that Beurer isn’t entirely at fault. However, it’s the second problem for which Beurer IS (sorta-kinda) “at fault”. The thing is, the monitor appears to consistently read higher than what it should. I had a doctor’s appointment this morning (technically, yesterday morning, by the time this review is submitted), and I purposely took my new blood pressure monitor with me, so that I could have readings done to compare against a medically-calibrated uinit. Since I wanted to get an artificially-inflated reading, as well as an accurate reading, I purposely tried to increase my blood pressure…and, exactly as I had wanted, when the medical assistant took my blood pressure (using their equipment), the reading was high, and she wanted to wait several minutes (with me “resting”) before taking it again. Immediately following that reading, I took it using the Beurer. While the reading was high (as expected), it was also fairly higher than the clinics reading. She came back in about 10 minutes later, and took another reading. This one was more “normal”, but she stated that she wanted to take one more reading, before I left (which would be approx 45 minutes later), just to be certain. As with the previous “medical” reading, I immediately followed it with a reading using a Beurer. While it was definitely lower, and much closer to “normal”, it was still higher than the medical unit’s reading. Moving forward, the third ‘medical’ reading was close enough to the second that she knew my blood pressure was ”normal”…and, as for the third Beurer reading, it was also close to “normal”, but still higher than the ‘medical’ reading. THE UGLY: In reality, there really isn’t anything “ugly” about the Beurer blood pressure monitor. However, there is a reason I’m including something in this category. The fact that the monitor ALWAYS reads higher than what the ‘accurate’ reading would be is enough of a problem for me to consider “disturbing”. If a person had slightly higher-than-normal blood pressure, and that person turned over the data from this monitor, it could lead that person’s doctor to falsely believe his/her patient had high blood pressure. Sure, the doctor’s in-office equipment would indicate the patient’s blood pressure was “normal” when said patient was at the clinic…but the doctor could think the patient was constantly being ‘stressed’ when elsewhere, leading to the (false) “high blood pressure”. Now, if…and, I do mean IF…the Beurer monitor is consistent in its ‘high’ readings (either by an exact number, or by an exact percentage), and IF that “number” could accurately be figured out, THEN it could/would be possible to calculate out what the ‘accurate’ readings would have been if done with a ‘medical’ monitor. But, in order to determine that number, one would have to take a VERY high number of almost-simultaneous readings (as in, less than a minute between the ‘medical’ & Beurer readings), so as to determine that number. The question is, would someone actually be willing to go through that much trouble, just in an attempt to determine what the ‘accurate’ readings would be? CONCLUSION: While I really wanted to like, and be able to recommend, the Beurer Bluetooth Blood Pressure Monitor, I am unable to do so. It would be a great unit for someone who just wanted to monitor their overall long-term blood pressure, just to see if/when there are times it gets overly-high. But, for anyone needing to keep ACCURATE records (such as those with known high blood pressure), this is NOT the device for you. To Beurer...IF anyone from Beurer ends up reading this review...it would be HIGHLY suggested/recommended to consider adjusting the software, so that more accurate readings are presented to users. Since it is known that taking readings from the wrist always produces ‘higher’ readings, adjusting the software is the most logical conclusion. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

The Beurer Bluetooth Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor is a great tool to have at home. I routinely have to check my blood pressure as I am lot more health conscious than I use to be in my younger days. It’s easy to set up all you have to do is download the app and connect it to your phone. I have a tradition BP monitor that goes around the arm and the Beurer is as accurate as my older one. I like that I can store my BP rates on there and I can go back and look at what my blood pressure looks like for the past week. My old monitor was very cumbersome to save and go back and look at the history. I also like measuring from my wrist as it’s quick and convenient.

Good but could be better: read the manual

This is a serious medical device and as such, anyone who wants to use it need to read the manual before operating the device. There are tons of warning that you need to understand. There are some critical info that will affect the device’s accurate reading so it is imperative to read the whole manual and understand how to operate this device properly, such as the correct posture when taking the reading. In this age of digital gadgets, one can fairly wish that a device like this can be more intuitive. For example, there are several beurer apps that are available in the app store. The manual tells us which of these apps is meant for our specific model of blood pressure monitor. Also, a more user friendly and intuitive approach would be to have the app to provide user with all critical info so that user can start using the device without having to read the manual. Thats clearly not the case. When using the app, the device is capable of storing and keep track of reading for up to two users. I cant tell much about the accuracy other than this device corresponds to the EU medical device directives so the reading must be somewhat reliable though it serves as a reference only. Of course only a qualified physician is able to provide medical opinion as we cant draw medical conclusion by just reading the measurement results from this device if we are not a qualified physician.

Decent portable BP monitor with terrible app

For people who suffer from irregular blood pressure, a blood pressure monitor is a must have device. The one I have been using so far is the traditional cuff type system, which though quite accurate, needs to be set up properly, and sometimes another pair of hands is necessary to get a tight fit. That’s why the Beurer BC57 wrist-mounted blood pressure caught my attention. The unit is well built and the size is very convenient. The cuff size is perfect for both me and my wife and we could get a tight fit without much issue. The controls are simple - the power button immediately activates the measurement, and after it’s done the “M” button lets me choose the user (it can remember 2 users in total), and also uploads the reading to the app via Bluetooth (given that you are able to enable it). The front face has a handy visual scale to get some idea whether the pressure is in the upper or lower end of the spectrum. The pulse rate is also displayed, along with a sign if the monitor detects arrhythmia, which is very helpful. Finally, 2 AAA batteries power the unit so there’s no need to recharge (which is both good and bad). In terms of accuracy, the unit is very close to my larger cuff-mounted monitor from Omron. But the measurement is very much dependent on the cuff position and fitting. Some trial-and-error helped me figure out what’s the optimum position for my wrist, and after that I was able to get some consistent results. I will always take the absolute measurement with a grain of salt, but the convenience of using this helps me keep track of my pressure regularly. I think that’s on par with other wrist mounted devices in this price point. With all these conveniences, the accompanying “Beaurer HealthCoach” app is a big letdown. It does what it’s supposed to do i.e. let you sync the measurements to the app, but the path is full of thorns. The instructions to do this are very unclear. There’s no pair functionality which makes the process super confusing. Worst of all, the Bluetooth functionality can be enabled only during the setup process, and the only way to do that is to remove the battery and go through the initialization again (like setting up the date and time etc.). I wish it was more user friendly, and feel that most users will be put off using the app with the current process. In summary, the Beurer BC57 is a decent choice as a small portable easy to use wrist-mounted blood pressure monitor. But the app is terrible, and that’s what you need then look elsewhere. Otherwise it works well as a standalone unit.

    Awesome Smart Blood Pressure Monitor

Tracking your health should be everyone's top priority. Tracking blood pressure specifically is super simple and a good way to make sure you are staying healthy. This Beurer monitor is a simple, easy, compact, and smart monitor. It is very compact and even comes with a small carrying case. This means it can easily be stored in a drawer or could even be put inside a small bag. It also has a very simple design with only two buttons on the entire thing. It goes on your wrist and a few seconds after turning it on it starts to take your blood pressure. The only downside to its simplicity is that it was somewhat hard to set it up for the fist time using only the two buttons. Possibly one of my favorite features is that it has Bluetooth connection. This allows you to store all of your readings within the app. The app also has Apple health integration which opens up many other possibilities for tracking health and vitals. I would recommend this to anyone who likes keeping track of their health. Its good for anyone of any age. It has two different user profiles which I wish it had more but that is not to say you cannot use it on more than two people.

    Readings are questionable

I like the compactness of the device with the included case. Ironically, there are only 2 buttons, but I had the hardest time using this BP monitor. Eventually after several tries and removing, reinstalling the batteries, I was able to set up properly. It did automatically transfer data to the app with each use. The BP readings were very high, so I tried it on my wife, same results. Not sure if it is a calibration issue or me not using the cuff properly. Maneuvering through the device settings were cumbersome. The app is too busy with information, would rather have simple individual screens to scroll through. I have used a lot of different electronics and feel this could use a redo.

So far so good. Gives accurate readings. I do wish it had illuminated numbers or backlight, but I also knew that at what I was getting at this price point. Accuracy is the most important thing. It's easier to put on than other wrist blood pressure monitors.

The blood pressure reading is accurate and the easy to use once you read the instructions. The only drawback is the bluetooth connection and app software being used to keep track of your reading is glitchy. The automatic bluetooth transfer of data is not always automatic and the app software on your phone, HealthCoach is not the greatest. It runs out of entries to store your data. Overall nice purchase for regularly checking your vitals.

Wrist blood pressure monitors are known to read values too high and are generally not recommended. This Beurer BC57 is no exception. It is consistently higher than my upper arm monitor, which tracks closely to manual readings by my doctor. The other problem with this model specifically is the instructions are horrible if you want to use Bluetooth to connect to their mobile app. Your best bet is to look for this monitor on YouTube on how to set it up. In any case, I don’t recommend getting this.
