It's a shame that this film flew under the radar because it's actually quite good.

Now you know what happened after the Joker left! Each time we watch the movie we find more things we missed the first time we watched the movie. Plenty of action and colorful. Never look for normal from Harley Quinn.

Birds of Prey is a fun movie that showcases the talents of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn within the DC film universe. This is more of a street level film where our anti-heroes are in peril but the universe does not need saving. Ewan McGregor as Black Mask is one of the nastier villains we've seen in a comic book movie to date. Quick note on the release: the image on the website and the listing mention the inclusion of a digital code but the actual packaging from my purchase does not mention the digital code anywhere. I was worried it would be missing but when I opened the case, there was a digital code included. So if you're worried it might not be included, it should be there even if the packaging doesn't mention it.

Suicide Squad was always the Harley Quinn show!

The original Suicide Squad movie was a bit of a mixed bag with a jolt of promise shouldered by Margot Robbie in her breakout performance as the iconic Harley Quinn. Birds of Prey made the smart move by putting the franchise focus where it shines brightest by giving her a starring role unfettered by Jarod Leto's thoroughly off-putting and weird performance inspired by Die Antwoord as the Joker. With "Mr. J" largely out of the way (aside from some influence on plot direction), Harley Quinn has all the room she needs to take the leading role. While this is an incredibly profane and violent film, I think it largely succeeds in empowerment of its largely female cast as an antidote to decades of patriarchal comics storytelling. There is in no way a deep story line to follow, it's mostly action-packed popcorn action from beginning to end. There are several genuinely funny, LOL moments throughout the movie like the scene where Harley Quinn fights a bunch of cops in a police station. While Margot Robbie owns the film, Ewan McGregor really kills it (literally) in his portrayal of psychotic local crime boss Roman Sionis. I cracked up every time he does something horrid quickly followed by a melodramatic and tween-inflected "ew!!". Recommended.

There's always going to be faults on any film, and this movie is not an exception to this. However, it's enjoyable and a different perspective than the typical DC Universe movies. There's violence, but in a fun and amusing way. The video is excellent as it was shot at 3.4K and finished in 4K instead of a 2K upscale. The Atmos audio is solid but not a reference disc with decent immersion and good LFE. Dialogue was a tad low but otherwise a good mix. This is a good title to buy during the sale season.

Birds of Prey is a fun and energetic step in the right direction, but the execution is too on the nose and it tries too hard to be clever, different, and fun which leads the entire production and stories astray. Still, there is enough to like about this world set inside the DCU, especially Harley Quinn, because there is more to her than meets the eye. The 4K video with Dolby Vision is excellent and a wonderful uptick in detail and color, while the Dolby Atmos sound very good. There are some great bonus features to add to the mix as well. Recommended!

What was originally pitched as a spin-off of Suicide Squad turned out to be girl-power answer to Marvel's Deadpool films. Comic book purists will (inevitably) struggle with the interpretations of much of the cast for what is otherwise a set of fun re-imaginings of characters that may not have otherwise translated to the silver screen coherently. If nothing else, the non-linear narrative may be worth it for the viewing alone. Sadly the 4K disc lacks any sort of special features; I believe they are on the included Bluray.

A Bird of Rare Plumage: One of DC's Best

The DC Universe (as opposed to the Marvel Universe movie franchise) is edgier, darker, and less consistent in quality, which might explain why Marvel movies are met with anticipation bordering on rapture and the latest DC venture with skepticism bordering on regret ("Suicide Squad," anyone?). "Birds of Prey," however, which thrusts Harley Quinn to center stage, is one of the better movies in this franchise, although with its deserved R rating it's not fare for enthusiastic underage fans. Margot Robbie gets an opportunity to strut her stuff as a kick-butt anti-hero pursued by both the cops (Rosie Perez) and the depraved gangsters of Gotham City (a nutso Ewan McGregor, galaxies away from Obi Wan). The action is excessively violent, many of the jokes surprisingly profane, and the theme about sisters sticking it to men is topical if nothing else in this #MeToo era. I was skeptical going in, but a fan coming out.

I enjoyed Birds of Prey to see classic characters such as Black Mask Zsaz, Black Canary and Huntress. The movie name should have changed and I felt the movie was more about Harley Quinn than Birds of Prey. The main stand out of movie is Margot Robbie as usual portraying Harley Quinn. Not a big fan of actress who played Black Canary (prefer CW actress version - actress Katie Cassidy) and I am not familar with actress playing Huntress. Birds of Prey as a group was no much of the movie.

I love Robbies Harley and this was a ‘fun’ movie to watch. I enjoyed everyone in their roles. I had my issues with the movie but it was truly a fun movie to watch. I like just about anything that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in, Rosie as Montoya, meh, but ok, Jurney as Black Canary was awesome. Ewen(MEWs beau I might add) was pretty Jokerish, so it was hard for me to enjoy him in this role. I see why people didn’t like it but it was still enjoyable. Glad I finally got it 4K. Picture quality was awesome

I enjoyed the movie but it is definitely not one of DCs best. This version of Harley Quinn is one of the best live action versions. She is played very similar to the animated version with lots of acrobatics and silly moments in between the chaos. You also get more of a sense of her previous life as Harleen, as she will randomly psychoanalyze characters and scenarios. This was much better than the generic nut job we were given in Suicide Squad. You do have call backs to each version of the character as she has her “daddy’s little monster” from Suicide Squad and the Jester costume from the animated series. The main complain I have from the movie is that it is fairly generic. Scenes seem cobbled together just to move the plot along but with no real interest or motivation. I couldn’t stand the foul language. I don’t mind characters saying bad words but it was done to the point of being distracting. Every character even the kid, loved to use f*** as often as possible. Practically every other line. When the word is used for effect it can be great, see Wolverines cameo in First Class. When the word is just tossed around at random multiple times every scene, it just comes off as a cheap way to seem edgy. All in all it was an entertaining watch but wait for a discount.

An underrated comic book classic and Margot Robbie's breakout performance of one of the most beloved superhero villainess of all-time. Even though this movie received mixed views , to me it is one of my all-time favorites and my favorite characters in the film were Harley Quinn and The Joker and even though Jerrod Letto got a lot of hate for his performance I believe nobody could have filled the shoes of Heath Ledger and got a respectable acceptance , but ironically at first I believed the same after the timeless performance of Jack Nicholson and after I was wrong I accept all three performances including the latest Joker that was mastered by Joaquin Phoenix. This is a DC Comic fan must own

Entertaining movie. Not familiar with the characters other than Harley Quinn. Much more foul Language and violence compared to Suicide Squad. Not complaining but letting the people who thought it was a good idea to take their child to see Deadpool know. This is not the best example of a kids movie but really nice for adults or teens. In the end, you do you and what you think is best.

The humanity through trauma displayed in this film is filtered through laughter and violence. It's striking, funny, thought-provoking, and downright entertaining. Prepare yourself for whiplash as Harley Quinn has lots of trouble with linear thought (but who doesn't, really) and has to rewind a lot to keep the story straight. It wonderful, bloody, hilarious, and so well acted; the actors really make this a great film!

I've seen this film a couple of times. Once streamed and another time having watched it on 4K UHD Blu-ray. First, the film is a lot of fun. It's a well-scripted story with characters that are well-developed for this style of film, it's witty and fun and the action scenes include some well choreographed fights and mayhem. It's a lot of fun. The 4K HDR presentation is excellent. The disc looks great with lots of color and detail with a fail amount of HDR highlights. The Dolby Atmos immersive sound track is also very good and puts you in the middle of the action. Ignore the naysayers and check it out. Be mindful that it does have an R rating due to language and violence though.

So i will preface that I love Suicide Squad so take my opinion with a grain of salt lolz. This is super fun from start to finish. Margo Robbie was born to play Harely. She killed it in SS and upped her game even more in the follow up to it. It has a great way of explaining the absence of Leto's Joker and exploring her character as well as introducing more interesting characters in Gotham. I feel like a lot are underrated so its nice to see them brought to the screen finally. If you weren't a fan of suicide squad dont let that put you off from this. Its a great addition and one of the better movies to come from the DCU. Don't sleep on it!

Great action packed Harley Quinn movie. Adds some dimension to the Harley character along with introducing some of her supporting characters. However, To be critically honest about the villian, portrayed by Ewan Mcgregor, he was mostly a one dimensional character. This seems to be the ongoing problem in a lot of DC movies. The Joker movie being the exception.

I really liked this movie more then I thought I would. The fight scenes were different and done really well. Good cast of characters and actresses. Title is a little too long. Maybe just Birds of Prey: Harley Quinn. Glad Harley got her own movie especially after The Suicide Squad movie was so bad. Can't believe they are making another one.
