Vacuum and Mop With One Machine

    Posted .

All the components of this machine came well-packed in one box that has hand holds on either side of the box; that is important to me just to get it in the house. It literally took minutes to set up this Pet Crosswave, with a quick start guide and full owner manual included. I already have a Bissell Pet Vacuum cleaner and I do love the Tangle-free brush roll. On other machines I usually have to get out a scissor and cut the hair off the roller. So, the dog hair gets sucked up from the Tangle-free brush roll and it is not the nicest thing to have the pet hair with the dirty water in the canister. There are 2 small containers of floor cleaner included that have a flower fragrance. I was told by Bissell that this machine is not meant to clean carpet, but rather area rugs because it is not a deep cleaner. I did use this on several area rugs, though, and found that it did a good job cleaning and deodorizing. However, when you are done and it is time to clean up the dirty water bottle be prepared to see all sorts of hair and other yucky solids that the machine picked up. I used toilet paper to retrieve and clean out those solids before dumping the dirty water in the toilet. Clearly, I only want to put water into my sewer system without bulk solids so it is important to clean out canister as best as possible. Then you need to either dry these pieces or let them air dry. Pros-does a good job, easy to use, set up for a while with cleaning fluid and other components. Cons-no accessories for upholstery, etc. and ultimate clean up of dirty water bottle.

    My BFF

No love is as great as the first, as they say. I bought this last year but after taking it to a friends house and power washing and vacuuming their entire 2 bedroom apartment for 5 hours straight for 2 days in a row, i think i mightve found the breaking point of this product... Haha, so after it wouldnt turn on, i returned it. I ended up going through 3 other new vacuums and returned them all, only to repurchase this as the 5th one. As i mentioned in the previous review for the Bissell Proheat Duo Pet vacuum, this one here was the absolute perfect size for a 5'3 girl living in a small apt. Its great in smler spaces and even if the suction is not as powerful as the Proheat Duo vacuum, this one does a good enough job for the size and its ease of use cant be beat. Cleaning it is suuuuuuper easy, refilling the water is super easy, and all i gotta do is just press a maximum of 2 buttons. (Meanwhile the pro heat duo has me feeling like an airplane technician, after having to take out a bunch components to clean it which was NOT easy and having so many buttons!!!) Im a bit OCD with vacuuming my carpet all the time (every day) and im always very pleased with the carpet cleaning after i wash it. Overall its been the best model i have found for a Wet/Dry vacuum so i highly recommend if its for a 1 bedroom apt. My only gripes are that this is not easy to push!!! Also wish it could suction better when going BACKWARDS because it only suctions good moving forward but not if i pass over it backwards and if the suction would be stronger too. Otherwise, i love it!

    Ditch the mop

    Posted .

The Bissell Crosswave is perfect for those who don’t like to mop (me). I love that the Crosswave vacuums and mops at the same time, doing two jobs at once. Also, it cleans the floor and sucks up the dirty water instead of moving it around like a mop. I have only used it on tile so far but they are noticeably cleaner after use. It doesn’t do a deep cleaning but it is as good as a mop and perfect for maintaining your floors. Beyond tile, it works with hard wood floors, laminate, and even area rugs! Clean up is a little involved; you run the Crosswave on its storage tray with water for a few seconds to clean the roller and intake, then you remove the waste tank, remove hair strainer, empty waste tank, rinse everything off and let air dry. Despite the steps involved, it is fairly easy and doesn’t take more then 5 minutes. I wish the waste tank was slightly larger, but I imagine that would of added unwanted bulk to the lightweight design. I am really pleased with the Crosswave and recommend it to those not just with pets but anyone who is looking for a better way to clean their floors!

I had no idea how dirty my rugs were!

    Posted .

Crazy - they get vacuumed all the time, but this is a whole different level of clean. We have a cat and a dog and I just used this to clean a 10x10 area rug and it picked up so much dirt and cat hair I was frankly shocked. Just seeing the dirty water container from the one rug makes me want to clean all our rugs now. Super easy to use with well thought out buttons, it's lightweight, but packs a ton of suction. I also really like the cleaning tray that you put it in after you are done - just add a little water and turn it back on and it automatically cleans the brush head (think paint roller).

    Great for simple cleaning

    Posted .

I have no real comparison as this is the first time I have purchased any sort of carpet cleaner. I liked this one for the versatility of its ability to do multiple surfaces as well as deal with pets. Before I have used the rental machines at the local big chain store, but again this is nothing like those sorts of machines. Out of the box, it is easy to put together and takes maybe a few minutes. It comes with two brushes and a tray to rest the machine in while it dries (see picture). So because it is smaller, this is definitely for smaller jobs or areas. I think it would be ideal for an apartment or a smaller house. Personally I have used it mostly on the carpeted area of my home, but it worked equaly well on hardwood. I didn’t use it too much on the hardwood, because I was not sure how it would work or if it would cause damage. So I was careful and made sure to wipe up I any excess water to make sure it was okay. I did not have any issues, but then again I was again very careful. I did not try it on my area rug, because I am very particular the rug. The roller brush is really well made and functions very well. It has rough brushes and smooth brushes all combined that work well on the various surfaces you use them on. The rough parts of the brush really grab up any hair on the ground. Really well in fact. You can use this as a floor cleaner or as a floor cleaner and a vacuum at the same time. So basically you clean and vacuum at the same time. The vacuum is okay, I prefer to use a stronger vacuum to go over the surface first. So it comes with a few small sample bottles of cleaning solution. A little goes a long ways, and the smell is pleasant. It also cleans well and I did not notice any residue or shampoo left on the carpeted area. It has two compartments, one for putting the solution in, and one for emptying the dirty solution. Simple and straight forward. So, again this is a small job small area machine, but it does that much very well. It is fairly small and stores easily in the closet. The drip tray allows for easy worry free clean up afterwards. I recommend this to anyone that needs a good spot or small area cleaning device. For that I think it will be a good work horse.

A mop, vacuum, and carpet cleaner all in one

    Posted .

I have three indoor cats, so I'm constantly looking for the 'next best' tool to help me clean up after them since my house has carpet, tile, hardwood, marble, and area rugs. This Bissell multi-surface cleaner is great; it's basically a vacuum, mop, and carpet cleaner all in one. The product is fairly light weight and maneuverable so it's easy to use. Assembly is quick, and after checking the manual (or watching a few videos), you should be cleaning in no time. The machine really does a great job of cleaning every floor in my house. The hardwood, tile and marble look freshly mopped after each use, and the carpets are hair free. Occasionally one of the cats will eat too fast and throw up, most of the time on carpet. Before getting this product, the process was to remove the majority of the vomit with a paper towel, then spray the area with a spot cleaner, scrub it with a cloth or sponge, and then vacuum the area. Now, I just clean up the majority with a paper towel and whip out this product; it's a huge time saver. The only issue I have is that it doesn't clean near the edge of walls very well, but that's not a very big con. Cleaning the machine is fairly simple as well, and I really like that it has it's own storage tray so it's not just sitting on the floor. Overall I really like this product. It's light weight, cleans like crazy and saves a ton of time. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you have pets.

Great alternative to hand mopping, which is why we bought it. Note, that absolutely (& unequivocally) it does take multiple rounds of mopping before the floor actually comes out clean! Outlined the process below along w. PRO’s & CON’s, and lessons learned. PROs: super easy to glide, is not exhausting to mop [compared to normal mopping], feels like a quality motor & piece of machine, super easy to pull apart & put back together because pieces ONLY fit ONE possible way which is huge — even my daughter loves mopping now. CONs: small tank needs constant empty/refill with new water & solution, vacuum brush needs frequent rinsing/cleaning even between the many empty/refill cycles. Does not do well vacuuming. CLEANING PROCESS: to actually get [fully] clean floors: (1) split the house into rooms [no larger than 13x15 size] and tackled one room at a time. (2) for each room, we mopped three times total. (3) each time we mopped we went over the area twice: once vertically [fwd/backwards across room], second time horizontally [left/right]. We had to mop SLOW & rinse the brush head ~3-5x per room. Lastly, we had to dump old water & refill new solution at least 2x per room. By the end of round 3, floors felt noticeably clean and the ‘wipe’ test on white napkin was clean. This was our “first house clean” after unboxing. Our floors did NOT look or feel that dirty beforehand. We now [try to] mop every 6-9 weeks. LESSONS: — Learned the lower/rug setting [brush pressed firmer against floor] works SO much better at all times! Albeit, likely wears brush out faster. — Tried several cleaners: including Bissell Pet formula (just ok), Zep (best, but even diluted leaks suds out the side of vacuum a little), biokleen (not anymore), and botanical decon30 disinfectant (never again, sud city!). — Definitely recommend vacuuming first but would not recommend using this device as a vacuum at all. FINAL: Yes, I would absolutely recommend & buy again. We’ll see how long it lasts!

Overall I'm Happy with this Cleaner

    Posted .

I have 2 dogs in the house, and sometimes they get into certain things or eat too much and end up throwing up around the house. I had a portable Bissell Pet Cleaner that worked fairly well but the act of getting down on my hands and knees was not ideal. Enter in the new Bissell Crosswave Pet Pro, and I believe I've found my ideal pet cleaning product. The Crosswave does a great job of cleaning, the brush is firm and is able to get into the carpet in a way that my old Bissell could not. The only thing I don't really like about the Cleaner is it doesn't do the best job of really sucking up all the moisture out of the carpet. I understand a little dampness left afterwards, but to me it leaves a lot and you can't really tell if its got it all or not. Cleanup is fairly simple and everything can be rinsed and laid out to dry for 24 hours. Adding the amount of liquid is fairly straightforward as theres a line for water and then the line to add the Soap so you cant get the mixture wrong! Theres 2 separate containers one for the soap and one for the residual thats sucked up through the vacuum. Theres a setting for carpet and wood floors. I've used this on stains around the house that proved to be tough in the past or areas with a lot of dirt and the Bissell does a great job of cleaning overall. The only thing I would change would be to add a button to do a boost of suction to make sure all the water is sucked out of the carpet. Other than that its a great unit and I recommend it!

    Vacuum and Mop in one

    Posted .

The CrossWave Pet Pro is one of those devices I wish I had this past winter. With the combination of snow, mud and a dog I constantly had little prints of mud in the house. My main floor is laminate wood so it usually required a quick sweep before breaking out the mop and bucket. Now I can just put some warm water and a little bit of the Bissle Multisurface Pet floor cleaning solution, in what looks like a sports bottle, and do all the cleaning in one. The Crosswave is super simple to put together when it comes out of the package. It comes with a spare brush and two sample bottles of cleaner that will get your through about 4 large area cleanings. The directions may feel a bit overwhelming when you notice all the details for cleaning, but it’s not much more than another other liquid based cleaning system. The main key to realize is that you never want to let anything wet and dirty sit around for long. The tray that it came with makes for an easy rinse of the brush and prevents the little drips of water that will eventually come down as it sits for a bit from settling on your floor. The packaging shows the multi-surface as sealed wood, area rugs, tile and laminate. Rugs are meant as area rugs and not carpet. However, I have used it to clean some low pile carpet without issue. It’s just a little hard to push if the carpet is any thicker and it’s not designed to be a carpet cleaner. My basement is mostly standard tile and was a bit painful as it caught several of the tile edges. You just have to take it easy in hopes not to break something. This has essentially replaced my mop and broom and made cleaning a lot easier. I prefer a wet cleaning system as it helps pick up dirt and dust instead of stirring it up like a dry vacuum or broom. The more it is used, the cleaner the waste water is beginning to look, telling me that my house is starting to stay a whole lot cleaner.

Not as convenient as I'd like

    Posted .

This multi-surface does a decent job cleaning floors and rugs – no complaint about its core functionality. But there are a few shortcomings that keep me from rating it higher. First, because it collects dirty water, it requires cleaning after every use, no matter whether it's a small or large job. This point probably applies to all appliances in this category, not just this one. And since most jobs are small, it's more work to clean the vacuum than it is to clean a small spill. If you’re planning to use this as part of a regular routine or for large clean ups, then it makes sense to consider. Second, there is no edge cleaning. Deep corners, base boards, and other edges will have to be attacked with other tools. It has no attachments, even for dry vacuuming. Third, the trigger for releasing solution is badly placed. When pushing the vacuum around, it's easy for your fingers to slip to the trigger, releasing fluid when you don't mean to. Lastly, for lack of a better description, the overall feel of the appliance is clunky. The misplaced trigger above is one example. Another is it's easy to spill cleaning fluid when trying to pour it into the clean water tank because of the spout design. And once you fill the clean water tank, it's easy to cap it in a way that looks closed, but isn't. The result is water quickly leaks through the bottom and onto your floor. And finally, when emptying the dirty water tank, the strainer is not snapped to the tank so if you forget it's there, it will fall out when you turn over the tank to pour out the water. Now imagine your kids or pets cause a mess and you’re in a hurry to clean it up. When you’re in a rush, you are less likely to pay attention to details like capping the tank properly, keeping hands away from the trigger, etc… You can argue this is all user error, but I think its overall design is not good for when you’re in a hurry. Certainly you'll remember all these details after a few uses, but its first time use could have been thought through better. As a result, I can only recommend this if you’re planning to use this methodically.

    Fantastic Wet/Dry Vac

    |
    Posted .
Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.

Although I don’t have pets, I purchased the Bissell Pet Pro, hoping it would extract human hair from carpet and prevent hair from wrapping around the roller as the infomercials claim it does with pet hair. The wet/dry vac extracted the hair very well however, human hair still wrapped around the rollers. The wet/dry vac cleaned the floors exceptionally well, extracting more dirt than what I believed was there. It worked well on carpet, laminate, linoleum, and ceramic tile floors. There are a couple things that would make this product better. If it was capable of drying the floors and if it was not completely made of plastic. I would not recommend using this product on laminate floors with a high gloss finish because you spend more time manually wiping and drying your floors in small sections at a time to remove the residual streaks that make your floors look dirtier than they did prior to cleaning them which defeats the whole purpose of the wet/dry vac providing users with a method of cleaning with less effort. The wet/dry vac is mostly plastic which makes it very light, but ensures that it will not last for years to come. Although It’s a bit pricey, overall, I really do like the product as it is exceptional at removing dirt which is evidenced from the separate dirty water tank.

This machine works great. The suction is powerful and the dirty water tank is nice too. The only thing is sometimes when your still not done some of the dirty water spills out as you are still mopping.

I was going back and forth between this & the cordless one, I’ve heard good things about both. In the end I decided on this model. It’s specifically for pets and the cordless only runs for 30 mins. Once I start I keep going through every room so that’s not good for me! Being quarantined meant one thing - clean out the house!! Not working and I had to do something. 2 rooms were for storage and haven’t been stepped in for years. These did the floors amazing - I was so impressed and so glad I made this purchase!! It picks up the dog hair and cleans so well... I’m always in awe when I see the dirty water at how good it is. I took a napkin to wipe the floor after to see how well it did and it picked up nothing!! My old floors look so clean and shiny!! It’s fun to use also and simple to use! I have hardwood & tile no carpet but I recommend for throw rugs!! I tell my mother how great it is and now she’s getting one also!! If your going back and forth and want something that’s easy and actually fun - or your sick of wringing out dirty mops - but it!! People love them so much there’s a Facebook group for us!!! You won’t regret it I promise!
