We purchased this to clean up my office, which is where we started to keep our dog when we're at work after we moved into our new house. Not surprisingly, she didn't take the move very well and had a number of accidents on the floor until she got used to the fact that it was "her" room. We were tired of seeing big spots on the floor, so we got this cleaner and were pretty happy with the results. You can still tell in someone spots that there are stains, but they're absolutely less noticeable and I've been told we only see them because we know where to look and they aren't obvious to new visitors. A few more treatments may do the trick, but overall we're still happy with it considering the carpet was only a "beginner" carpet anyway. It may just be us, but the tank does fill up VERY quickly and when you pour out the dirty water, there's not a good way to stop the clean solution from getting poured out too so that was really disappointing. You can pinch it and maneuver it with some creativity, but I expected a more logical solution for something at this price range.

As a household with 3 dogs and a cat, we definitely needed a carpet cleaner to bring the life back to our family room carpet! This did the trick! Easy to use. Not heavy or hard to push. What this machine sucks up will amaze you! So glad I don't have to spend hundreds on cleaning companies anymore!

Husband had it put together and most of the house finished before I got home from work. It was easy to use and very effective cleaning up some pet stains from where our dog got sick. You could not tell it ever happened. Even weeks afterward the spots stayed clean.

We have used it on several rooms so far and it has done a great job of cleaning the carpet including pet stains. We used it on one sofa and it did a great job on cleaning it where one of our cats like to lay. Will see how it lasts.

This has gotten up a lot of stains with the help of the right cleaner added in. Easy to use. Bulky, but better than some.

It's ok for now, cleaned my carpet and I will have it for the next time I need to clean instead of hiring someone. It will eventually pay for itself!

Great Steam Cleaner, Thorough Review

I have had my Bissell Deep Clean Premier PET for about three months now. My wife and I read 250+ reviews on different sites and didn’t find one that really answered all our questions, so I’m writing this review to help those of you who really care about which carpet steamer you end up with since you’ll have it for the next 3-8 years. We were attracted to this machine because of its price and good reviews. We live in a 3,300 square foot tri-level with our two boys and four golden retrievers. We have plenty of dog hair, dirt, and the occasional accident from our six month-old pup. We clean the carpets ~quarterly. I’ve used it to clean the entire carpet twice now, and several accidents from the pup as well. Executive summary: Buy this machine, you won’t be disappointed. It has many features that aren’t played up on the Bissell sales material or box as much as you’d expect given how well this machine works. First and foremost, does the machine pull most of the water out of the carpet (this correlates with pulling dirt out!)? Yes! We live in Colorado, so things dry quickly with the altitude, but whereas the old Hoover we had before could take up to 6 hours to dry (and I hate walking on wet carpet), it’s usually 30-45 minutes per room if we have an exhaust fan on the level and a ceiling fan going. It really sucks the carpet dry! I absolutely love that; in my opinion this alone makes this machine worth the purchase price. Any machine will get the carpets wet, but only the good ones get it close to dry, and this one does. As a bonus, the way the dirty water tank is designed, you can see how much dirt you’re pulling up, how much water is flowing into the tank, and how full the tank is getting. Next, unexpectedly, the machine is really very quiet. I vacuum with earphones & music, so my wife had to point this out. When I took the ear buds out I was amazed at how quiet it really is—it’s far quieter than our Kirby dry vac, which is reasonably quiet itself. This is amazing given how well it sucks the water out. Next, I was really impressed with how long the clean water tank lasts. 1.25 gallons didn’t seem like a big upgrade from what I had before, but it takes me about 1 1/3 tanks to do the largest room in the house now whereas the old Hoover with what seemed like a similar size tank took 2 ½, which means this Bissell is faster and less hassle when you are working on cleaning the entire house. Then, when you go to empty the dirty tank out, the Bissell engineers’ genius really shows through. There is a little plastic catcher for the dog hair that is very easy to clean—far better than the wire screen on my old machine. The tank itself balances reasonably well when full so that helps reduce the chance of spilling while filling up again, I appreciate that a lot. It also makes it easier to carry back to the machine after filling up. Here’s an advantage I never expected: The ease of getting the dirty tank itself cleaned up. We had a bad canine tummy problem I was vacuuming up, then I got distracted and the dirty water sat in it for a week. I’m still astounded that two rinses of hot water completely took care of the nasty brew that was starting to bubble (yuck) inside the dirty water tank. The dirty water itself is collected into a plastic bladder inside the clean water tank. I didn't think I would like this, but come to find out; unlike our old Hoover this tank is designed without areas that are hard to rinse out. Part of the glory here should probably go to the folks that choose which scent to use in the Bissell steam cleaning detergent. I choose my personal hair shampoo based on smell, and my hat is off to the pleasant, light scents available to choose from for the Bissell steamers. We have a lot of dog hair (I mean a lot!) and though I dry vac before shampooing the carpets, there is still some hair left over for the Bissell to find. That means there is a thin layer of hair that accumulates all along the water recovery path. I was delighted to see the ingenuity of the engineers who apparently understand this problem: there are two thumb screws that hold the front top of the water recovery path in place (right where dirty water is first recovered back into the machine); screw them off and you have instant access to clean the accumulated hair that hasn’t yet reached the plastic hair filter. It can be off, cleaned, and put back on in under a minute, genius! The other thing I really like is that there is a clip for the cord right below the handle so I can snap the cord in place while extended for use rather than holding it in my hand the whole time to keep the cord up out of the way of my feet. The cord length is pretty standard, I wish it was about 6 feet longer, but with the number of outlets available in a reasonably new home, that really doesn’t present any difficulty. Finally, the only disappointment from the machine is that the storage mount for hose attachments didn’t hold the brush tip attachment particularly well. After about the 5th time it fell off while using the machine I decided to store that separately rather than clipped to the machine. The planning here doesn’t match the rest of the machine, but this is such an insignificant concern that it shouldn’t deter anyone from purchasing this machine. Overall: I’ve owned 4 other machines over the past couple decades and this one is hands-down the best value and the best at sucking up the dirty water, so it really cleans and then it dries quickly. I can’t say enough good things about that. Add in the ability of the machine itself to be cleaned along with numerous other well-designed features and you’ve got a bargain at ~$220. It’s been worth every penny.
