Customers are positive about the cleaning performance and ease of use of this steam mop, with many praising its effectiveness in cleaning floors and its user-friendly design. However, customers are negative about the occasional water residue left behind and some reported issues with the steam function. Many appreciate the time-saving aspect and the chemical-free cleaning. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and ease of use outweighs the concerns regarding water residue and steam inconsistencies.

I went from using the Swiffer wet jet to this, and am so glad I did. I read many reviews from several sites, comparing the Bissell to the Shark, and found many people suggested the Bissell over the Shark, I completely agree. Compared to the Shark, the BIssell is constructed way better. The first time using it I could not believe how much cleaner my floors were, the lights were shining off the floor. The machine is such a breeze to use, plug it in, give it 30 seconds and it is ready to steam. I was a little disappointed at first that it did leave some water behind, but that all quickly dried up within minutes. I also really like the fact that the heads are washable/reusable - no hassle of constantly having to buy replacements pads/solution/etc.

Works great - you need to read the manual!

This is our second Bissell Steam Mop - the last one died after nearly 9 years of use. It's light-weight, easy to maneuver and gets floors really clean and streak-free without dealing with chemical residue.
Many other reviewers have commented on excessive water left behind and that it leaves floors sticky. On the first point, if you read the manual, it will tell you that when you first use the mop, your floors will be more wet - after the filter is broken in there is much less water left after cleaning. Also, if you're getting a lot of puddles left behind, then you're holding the trigger down for too long. You should not have the trigger held down the entire time you're mopping - even after the initial break in period.
As for leaving a sticky residue, if you have sticky floors after using this mop, then you need to mop a couple more times (use a fresh pad#. The sticky residue you're getting is a result of the Bissell loosening up all of the old residue left from using chemical floor cleaners, and it takes a few runs with the steam mop to get rid of that. Same with the streaks - if you get streaking, you're either 1) using way too much steam #let up on the trigger!) or 2) you need to run it a few more times to get rid of all the old chemical residue.
But, the manual will tell you all of this - for this price, there's not a better mop out there - unless it's the newer model of the Bissell Steam Mop. Would I recommend this to a friend? I just did.

Better than the Shark by far!

Prior to buying this steam mop, not only did I do research but I borrowed a friend's Shark steam mop. The Shark was unable to lift milk spots off my laminate floor, took two cleanings to do a noticeable job, left streaks and I had issues with the unit emitting constant steam. I used two tanks of water to clean an 11 x 14 spot of laminate flooring. With the Bissell, my cleaning time was cut literally in half (only used half a tank of water on the same spot) and, after going over the floor once, it was clean! There were no streaks at all (I have a dark cherry laminate floor). I own a Bissell Pet Eraser vaccuum and a Bissell Carpet Cleaner, and this product has impressed me just like the others I own from this company. A great value for the money spent - and with a family of four, plus two dogs and aquariums, we clean our floors everyday. This is fantastic!

I initially wanted to ge the hoover hard surface floor cleaner, because I own a hoover floor cleaner and it has worked wonderful over the years, but the price on the hard surface cleaner was $60.00 higher and I did not want to pay that because I don't have that much square feet of tile and hard wood floors in my house, so after reading many, many reivews I decided to go with the bissel steam mop. I love it. It cleans wonderful. The tile drys fast. I can toss the mop pad in the washing machine and clean it. This is a great easy cleaner. What normally took me over an hour now takes 15 minutes and I would recommend this product to anyone.

I've owned this Bissell steam mop for over a year - with two little kids it's a great time saver and works great! I have approximately 1500 sq. feet of hardwood floors and tile and I can have them all cleaned within an hour (on two tanks of distilled water). I do change mop pads half way through to cut down on the water residue - which isn't much. Leaves my floors looking and feeling great.
Some additional pointers - read your manual before using, use distilled water and sweep/vacuum before using the steam mop. If you have initial streaking - it's from previously used cleaning chemicals. I have no streaking on my hardwood floors.

Nice when it worked

My first one worked well on my laminate and vinyl floors, though I felt it left them too wet. I started using two pads at the same time and that seemed to fix my problem. However, the first one stopped steaming at around 28 days after purchase, so I returned it.
The second one is now about 60 days after I exchanged the first one and the same issue.
I bought a shark today and am way more impressed with how dry the floors are instantly after cleaning them and the length of the cord is much longer. Expensive lesson learned with the bissell.

This was my first experience with a steam mop. After reading many reviews, I chose the Bissell. We have a lot of hard flooring in our home: wood laminate, tile and linoleum. The majority is wood laminate and it is throughout our entryway and kitchen, so it needs frequent cleaning.
I used the mop twice to clean all the flooring. I am astounded at the rave reviews for this mop. It was awful, especially on the laminate. It left so much water on the floor, I was honestly afraid it would ruin our wood laminate flooring. I ended up towel drying many parts. The areas where I let it dry on its own (which took at least 10-15 minutes) ended up full of streaks and far from clean. The water that was all over the floor was dirty, as evidenced by the towel that I used to dry the floor, so I really can't say the mop even cleaned the floor. I'm not exactly sure what the purpose is. Basically all it seemed to do was spread hot water all over my floor, which I then had to get down on my hands and knees and dry with a towel.
I will say that the mop did better on the tile and linoleum than on the wood laminate. Mainly, I think, because I wasn't so freaked out about how wet it was and also the streaks wouldn't show on our tile or laminate because they are mottled, and being in the bathroom and laundry, aren't exposed to direct sunlight which shows off the streaking.
Needless to say, I returned the mop to Best Buy. I am so disappointed. At this point, I'm not sure whether to just go back to using a regular mop (which is a pain with all the rinsing and elbow grease, but at least it leaves my floors clean and streak-free for the most part), or if I should try another brand. The two others I had considered were the Shark and Haan, but both are a bit more expensive. After my experience with the Bissell, I'm beginning to doubt whether ANY steam mop will actually clean my floor or if they all just spread around dirty hot water.
If you're looking for a $70 method of getting hot water on your floors so you can then use towels to clean and dry them, then this is it. I'm going to have to pass. I guess I'll keep looking.

Initially the steam mop did not work on its second use. Following the included instructions and cleaning with white vinegar did not help. I depressed the trigger for several seconds, but I was concerned the noise it made signified the motor was burning up.
After obtaining additional information from the Bissell website the unit did start working again. Soaking the filter in cold water and depressing the trigger for a couple of minutes did the trick. The noise it made was natural and subsided once the water worked its way through the system.
If you are steaming a large area at a time, I would recommend purchasing additional cleaning pads. The majority of the dirt is easily rinsed out for additional uses, but it seems to work better with a fresh, dry pad.
The mop does do a great job on surface dirt. I haven't had to use it on any tougher jobs yet.

I absolutely love this mop! It is so easy to use and cleans very well. No more bending over too squeeze out a mop. I cleaned my kitchen and 3 bathroom tile floors in about 10 minutes total. The cord is long enough for me. It does leave the floors wet, but no more than regular mopping does.
I highly recommend it.

I ordered this product to clean my tile and hardwood floors. I have THREE big dogs that leave a lot of paw prints, water splatter, and dirt around the house. After using the Bissell Steam Mop, my floors look great! I highly recommend sweeping and/or vacuuming your floors thoroughly before using the steam mop to get the best results... it leaves a little water residue, but nothing too bothersome.

I had done alot of research on steam mops. Wanting to get away from harsh and costly chemicals. Having small children and 2 cats. I wanted to go more green we should say. I read about so many reviews of steam mops this one won hands down. It was well loved, I beleive if more suppliers carried it, and the accesories ie the microfiber cloths, and the filters. This would have had a five star rating. I suffer from chronic back pain, I simply cannot get down on my hands and knees and scrub anymore. I wanted something which would be an investment. There are many products on the market. I am shocked that steam mops are not more readily available and supplied. I do beleive this is very very cost effective in the long run with eliminating the swiffer wet jet its refills batteries and cleaner. in a year you would have been able to by this. I was very happy to see that best buy had this. I had to look it up and call the store. A very nice sales associate named rebbeca on the pleasant hill location. Told me there were two in stock and if I would like she could hold one for me. I went right away to get it. Way to go best buy even other major retailers were not carrying this in stock.

Should anyone think that this product doesn't deliver steam, there is a trick to it- you have press and hold the steam trigger for a few seconds AND SLOWLY move it across the floor...no, it wont take three hours to clean the kitchen floor (I have tile) however you wont get your entire kitchen floor done in three minutes either. My kitchen floor (approximately 90 sq feet) takes me about 15 minutes to finish (from plug in to cord wrap). Yes, it leaves a little light mist behind on each tile however it dries really quickly and is not a problem on my tile (In fact, if you steam it correctly, the mist dries within just a few seconds). If you feel that 15 minutes is too long to spend on a kitchen floor, consider hiring a housekeeper.

I bought this mop to use on my laminate wood floors. They are dark wood and dust/dirt shows very easily. When I used a regular mop, I always had to go behind with towel to wipe up the floor so it wouldn't show streaks. With this, I no longer have to do that. It's quicker than a mop and bucket, and very easy to use.

This mop is great! After reading all the reviews I decided to give it a try! The first time I used the mop it made a funny noise when I pressed the button. But after 3 minutes of pressing it, it started to release the steam. Turns out that noise was normal during the first time use. I used it first on my hard wood floors and it left them a little wet, but of course if you use a regular mop you are likely to see a lot more water than with this mop. Later I used it on my kitchen tile and it did a great job! I did notice that it left more water on the kitchen than on the hardwood floors. A little tip, if you are using it for a large space use the second pad, it will work better and leaves less moisture on the floor. Overall it does a great job and it's so easy to use!

I just bought the Bissell because I didn't like the Shark that much even though it did a fine job... I must say this Bissell Steam Mop is amazing... I had one really bad stain on the vinyl floor in the laundry room and the Bissell removed. I went over it a few time when I had the Shark but it wouldn't remove it, "I always thought it was just going to be a set in stain".. Hands down the Bissell is better. Fit and finish is better then the Shark and it comes with 2 Micro Fiber mop heads.

I love this steam mop my only complaint is I wish there were attachements for corners. I still have to get down on my hands and knees to do a great excellent cleaning job. But for the inbetweens it cleans muddy dog prints very well. I have cowboys and cowgirls who forget to take off their muddy stinky boots. I like the steam feature because I know it is truly cleaning. I have put a cup of vinegar every now and then mixed with tap and water and after a year it is still functioning fine. Right do no hold the trigger the entire time you are mopping this mop is for cleaning not shining. IF I want my floors to shine I still have to use a different product for the SHINE. Cleaning for everyday this mop is perfect.

I've had tendinitis in my shoulder for several weeks and unable to do much mopping in the kitchen. Couldn't take it anymore so got this steamer and OMG my kitchen floor is clean. This gets under the counters very nicely. It was not painful for my shoulder. Arthritis is getting the best of me these past few years and this is a God send. Thankyou Best Buy for offering it.

I have used this for 2 months and it works great. I like the fact there are no chemicals being used on my floor. It saves money because you don't have to buy floor cleaner and the mop head covers. I have had no problems with it at all. I even bought my son one, we both have pets that we want to keep safe from chemicals.

Not Great for grout

I really wanted this to work for me. We have tile throughout the main floor of our home. I had been using a Swiffer mop with poor results and definite streaking. I did my research, and not wanting to spend the big bucks (500-1200 bucks) picked this as the best of the cheapies. Of course, you get what you pay for. No real steam or power, just hot water pushed out through the pad, so it picked up the suface dirt on the tile. But no ability to power steam the grout. Since it is a bit heavy, holding the steam button down while "scrubbing" back and forth is tiresome, with no real results. Since it isn't steam, but just hot water, the floors stay wet, too. Not gobs of water, but ten minutes to dry. Very sad.....I'm returning this tomorrow, and will save for a real steam cleaner.

Weight:good. Amount of water it holds is not sufficient for large areas & multiple wipes. No on and off switch. Used on hardword bamboo floors, the padding is either not thick enough or the too much water comes out, which leaves floors wet; therefore watermarks. Still had to use a dry mop to clean away watermarks and dry damp floors. I will be returning, after I try one users suggest ion about make thicker pads out of towels.
