Great for security. It comes with an strong anti virus that checks for ransom ware which is the worst kind of virus but for streaming video is not good. It slows it down causing bad resolution or even stops the video from the most well known movie services. I was disappointed when I found that out.

I just want to disclose that I’m a security professional and would highly recommend Bitdefender as a endpoint solution for home and small business. As a Box it resembles the constant alerting of enterprise equipment to find it’s a false positive. I would recommend something like opendns and a good endpoint like bit defender if you have a decent router. It lacks real-time data since you have to manually refresh and it’s scheduling has sometimes disabled devices while they were scheduled to operate. Disabling and reenable fixes that issue.

We highly value your opinion as it comes from a security specialist. BOX was designed to be a security solution for a home environment and we tried to make it as easy as possible to install. We are sensitive to the fact that select users may find it overwhelming and as a result we are continuously looking for ways to improve the BOX experience based on user feedback.
As you use BOX more in the future if you have additional feedback/suggestions to share, we'd love to hear it. Please contact our support team by email at [email protected] or by using our toll free number, 1-800-804-4602

The following is my review of the BitDefender BOX 2 Cybersecurity Hub.
When I first heard about the BitDefender Box I had no idea what it was or that the first version of it was released 2 years ago. I have heard about cyber-attacks where the intruders gain entrance through one of the many devices that more and more folks are beginning to take advantage of. We now have affordable devices to light our homes through a central hub; to play music throughout our homes; devices to lock our doors and devices to notify us if there is a stranger at our front door. Our refrigerators, ovens, TV’s, etc., can all connect to the “Internet of Things.” The potential problem is that we cannot run antivirus software in these devices, at least not that I am aware of.
In simple terms the BitDefender Box protects every device that has anything to do with the signal that comes in through your Internet connection and is passed through your router. It uses the same BitDefender Antivirus and Internet Security that BitDefender is known for. I have used their Internet Security for some time now and it does a great job. I assumed that the BitDefender Box would be every bit as good, and I was right. It is comforting knowing that my home is protected from any cyber intrusion regardless of any weak spots in the devices I use throughout my home.
I initially may have been a little intimidated trying to understand how to set the Box 2 up but was delighted to learn that there is a video available for Windows users and Mac users as well that shows a step by step demonstration of how to set everything up. It is quite simple really.
You can set it up along with your current router and they work parallel to each other, or you can set it up as a stand-alone router. I have mine set up along with the 3-tower Linksys web router system that I own. I have not noticed any slowdown in the Internet speed or interference since I set the Box up.
One important detail you need to be aware of is that the service is a $99/yr. investment in your cyber safety. The first year is included in the price of the Box itself. At first I thought this was pretty expensive but after some thought I realized that this service protects everything and an unlimited number of devices so there is no need to carry an additional anti-virus software program since the Box already contains Bitdefender’s Internet Security program. And this is all controlled by one mobile App. You also have advanced parental controls; and whenever a new device connects to your network, Bitdefender BOX promptly detects it and sends an instant notification to your Bitdefender Central app so you can take action and control what that device is allowed to do.
So overall I give BitDefender Box II a thumbs up and five stars. For a little over $8.00/month it is worth it to me to know I have this amount of protection on every device and every computer in an era of ever-increasing talented hackers and thieves.

The Bitdefender - BOX 2 Smart Home Cybersecurity Hub - Black/White provides active network security for your home or small office internet, without slowing down your connections or speed.
The BOX 2 was really unknown to me before I received it. I wasn't sure if it was just another WiFi unit or if it was a hardware server, but once I installed it, the BOX 2 show what it was capable of.
After a few setting modifications, like setting my MESH Network to Bridge mode, the BOX 2 and my home system were talking and clicking! Immediately, I was notified of what and who was connected to my network, if they were secured or not, and how to fix the securities issues if there was a problem. It worked with everything WiFi capable in our home including our portable devices to our security cameras. The Parental Features are excellent and useful!
PROS
- Step by step setup instructions will make this process easy for anyone comfortable with home/office networking
- Immediate responsiveness from the BOX 2 provides feedback on your network security and vulnerabilities
- Offers desktop, iPhone, and Android downloads to help support a more secure experience
- Small footprint should allow for easy setup in limited spaces
- Connections are conveniently located on the back, not the bottom, for better access and placement of the unit
CONS
- Rather wide and tall for what the unit contains. Maybe a hindrance for height restricted spaces
- Setup may offer a bit of a challenge for those unfamiliar with network settings. Follow the step-by-step instructions or call the number for assistance.
Nice and effective product!

Home security for added protection

This is an internet home security, designed to protect all the devices connected to your network with an additional layer of security. The box is sleek and elegant looking. It comes with instructions to get you started. You need to download the app and follow the instructions to set this thing. The app also provides detailed statistics on usage, etc. Basically the Box acts as a bridge between the modem and the router. You can use the phone app to monitor the system as well. It provides parental controls as well. After initial setup, Box will scan for all the devices on the network. It comes with the Bitdefender security software, but only for a year. After that, you have the option to renew I think. There is no performance issues in terms of network speed when using the Box. With so many IoT devices being used at home, this is a great network security system and offers more protection than a standard antivirus software. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an added layer of protection from online threats.

This box is the best investment in cyber security I have found, for every connected device in my home PLUS my mobile phone

Bitdefender’s Box 2 provides a unique combination of both hardware and software based antivirus, malware, and other protection for a homes wireless network. Accordingly, the Box 2 provides blocking of malicious/unsafe URLs, evaluations of network vulnerabilities, their proprietary “Total Security” cyber security suite, as well as exploit and anomoly detection. Along with the security features, the Box 2 also provides parental controls including screen time management, device management, and network controls.
All of these features are contained within a relatively small “footprint” given the physical size of the Box 2. Aesthetically, the Box 2 has an appealing modern design and therefore does not need to be hidden.
Overall the Box 2 is fully capable of providing an entire home network, given the ability to connect unlimited devices, with comprehensive antivirus and cyber security protection. Just keep in mind that after one year of complimentary subscription, both BOX Service and Total Security 2018 Unlimited subscriptions will need to be renewed.

If you are looking for a way to keep all of your devices safe, look no further than the Bitdefender BOX. While older antiviral software, or hardware devices to protect your home don't protect smart devices like Google Home, door locks, etc., the Botdefender BOX handles everything.
The installation was easy, thanks to the option of being able to clone your network, meaning you don;t have to go to each individual device and reconnect it to a new netwrok. You can opt to use your existing WiFi router as well, but I did not try this setup; I used the Bitdefender BOX as my WiFi router.
The Bitdefender BOX is great because it gives you so much control and information over your WiFi and its connections. You can pause devices, opt to get notifications on your phone when new devices are connected to the network, and monitor network activity.
Finally, the Bitdefender BOX offers a wide array of parental controls. You can restrict usage times, devices, websites, and more. It is a great way to not just protect your family from laicious threats, but also to keep a better handle on the amount of "screen time" your children get.
Keep in mind that after the first year, there is a $99/year subscription fee for continued protection, but for the first year, and moving forward, this includes Bitdefender Total Security antivirus software for an unlimited number of devices.
