I use BB's for work and although they dont have the flashy apps of an Iphone they are superb for features such as voice communications and email. If you never used BBM then you just don't know how great it is.
The same holds true for the BBPB. It is superb with email communications, the internet experience far exceeds my friends Ipad, outstanding wifi connectivity, Bluetooth, the front and rear cameras with video are awesome and the bridge feature saves me alot of money not to mention I dont have another two year contract hanging around my neck.
At these reduced prices you cant spend your money on a better tablet and wait until OS2 is released in february!

Better choice than Kindle Fire

Don't know why so many people are buying the Kindle Fire when you can get one of these with twice the RAM and double the hard drive space. This thing can do a lot of things out of the box with the QNX OS better than an IPAD without locking you into Apple or Amazon's propietary content structure.

i bought 2 of the 32GB Playbooks on release day. couldn't wait to get them. both updated to the latest version of the OS without issue.
the bridge problem on AT&T was a bit of a niusance, but that was quickly resolved.
i've been a BlackBerry fan for years, and this device is what i would expect. it'll be nicer when BBM and other PIM apps are added, but i'm happy with the current state.
online reviews have been moaning and complaining about the lack of native email, calendar, and other things, but, in my view, supporting Flash (which iOS devices don't/won't) is huge.

excellent hardware and fast os

Everyone is bashing Blackberry but they've always had good hardware and the new OS - soon to be OS10 at the end of the year for the new phones, is great. (same as used in the Playbook now). Everyone says there aren't enough apps and granted there are fewer than Apple and Android but 99% of those are terrible and really, the Playbook is geared more for adults and business. I've got Kindle loaded, can access my work via Citrix Receiver along with a few really good games. The display is wonderful with 1080 out. When the price was lowered -$249 for the 32g, I jumped on it. If you have a blackberry phone, the added bonus is using the bridge feature to use it as a touchpad and/or remote.
I refuse to buy the into the Apple koolade, and Android is fragmented and has some scary security issues.

this thing is simply awesome who ever is rating this thing a 1 is a apple fan boy afraid of some competition easily the best mobile tablet. 7 inches is perfect size (thats what she said) and today this thing got native email, calandar, contacts native so you dont need the bb bridge for those and they also announced android apps to play on this in a month or so.
so overall once the android apps and blackberry app world develop this tablet will be complete. Another cool thing that i havent seen any other tablet do is hook it up to a 1080p tv and play a game like need for speed on the tv through your tablet.. overall AMAZING..

Love the tablet

I really like the experience of using the Playbook. I just wish that there were more fully developed and useful apps available. I'm hoping my confidence in RIM does not turn out to be misplaced, given all the news of late, but the tablet is a magnificent piece of hardware and the QNX software is sleek and responsive. Looking forward to QNX 2.0 (I hope!)

I love my Playbook

Buy this knowing what it is, and you won't be disappointed. I have read mixed reviews, and most of them were from people who must not have researched the Playbook before purchasing it.
I don't have a BB phone. I bought this to use for the following reasons:
Tablet at home on my WiFi
Tablet to tether to my Android phone occasionally
Mobile/lightweight work apps
And of course games
Give it time, especially with Android Apps coming to it and it will impress you. After all it's only 10 days old right now.

My son-in-law told me about the big sale on the 32bit Blackberry Playbook. I went right over to get it, but at the store I found out I had to go home and order it on-line to be delivered to the store in a couple of days. It did arrive as promised two days later. I was greatly disappointed that there were no written instructions for this device! I finally called the help desk and the man directed me to go to my computer and sign onto the Blackberry site to register while I was talking to him on a speaker phone. He got me up and running in a short time. I am now learning how to use the tablet but when I was able to get into Facebook and play my FarmVille game I was so happy. Looking forward to this being my communication while traveling. One of my disapointments-I seem to be unable to get into AOL where my e-mail comes from... hope that is available sometime.

Media, Business and Multi-tasking Powerhouse

The Playbook has exceeded my expectations! Multitasking capability is incredible and the display is vivid. The browser is faster than our dual core HP Vista Desktop and fully capable from what I have experienced. Apps more than meet my needs. I look forward to 2.0 allowing some Android apps but very satistifed with available apps. I will use 50% for business /50% home use. Office apps work incredibly well. I purchased an E-wonder case with a Bluetooth keyboard and a BT Mouse and works well when my laptop isn't available. HDMI connection and streaming Amazon Video is superb especially when HD is an option for a video. Camera could use a flash as indoor photos are grainy unless I need to explore the functionality a bit more. Blackberry Bridge makes file sharing and email seamless. I use a 32GB micro SD card on my BB Torch and by just calling up file explorer it is as if the files are on the Playbook(32GB#. Email, contacts and calender are super and welcome as it is far better than plowing through email on the BB Torce especially with the BT Keyboard. Bridge Browsing is not allowed without a 19.99/mo AT&T plan but I can just use the Torch for browsing in a pinch. Guest WIFI is available at many of my customers. BB Leadership needs to develop a sustainable strategy for the Playbook and the QNX operating system. The Playbook at the current price point #12/26/11) is more than a good value IMO as the functionality and hardware are that of a much more expensive device. Thank you RIM.

I will start off by saying i own the xoom my wife has the kiddie ipad and i just purchased the Blackberry playbook 32gb. Out of the 3 tablets, playbook QNX OS is far more superior then honeycomb and kicks the snot out of the childish ios for ipad. The BB playbook is a very high quality piece of equipment and will run any application on the market, android, html5, java, flash, webos6 you name it, QNX is the s@#t. Give this machine a chance to mature, this is the one to beat.

At This Price, A Worthy Tablet

I have never used a tablet before and was curious as to what they can be used for. My primary use for the Playbook was as a source of entertainment when I run on a treadmill at the gym (I am training for a marathon) for which I am satisfied. However, as I experimented with the Playbook, I found it to be an excellent tool for intenet, email and reading documents. I am disappointed by the lack of PIM and apps but understand those will be corrected with OS2 available in February.

I pre-ordered my PB and received it the first week they were released. My primary reason for purchasing the PB was to be able to use it to browse the web using my BB smartphone as the internet connection when WI-FI is not available. The PB works great for browsing the web if you have a WI-FI connection. However, I cannot use the PB using my BB phone as an internet connection. BB support says this is a priority project and updates will be available soon to correct this but they have no answers, yet. I'm also having difficulty opening pdf files attached to emails when generated from my business software. This means I cannot use the PB to read reports emailed to me from work when traveling. This is another issue that support is helping me with but no resolution yet after 3 weeks of trying to resolve it. In theory, if everything on the PB worked as per advertised it would be a great tablet. Because I cannot, yet, use it to do the things I was hoping to do mine sits on a shelf and I check weekly for updates.

had great expectations when i purchased this and let me tell you didn't dissapoint and dont seem to understand some of these reviews, see sometimes there is a thing called operator error and then they blame the device. It takes some getting used to the tablet but once you understand the user interface and hand gesture this tablet is amazing.

I have been using the playbook for about 2 months. If you are a Blackberry user there are no big surprises. Great video, great presentation use with the HDMI cable and ability to edit documents on the run. I travel for work with the Playbook and it fits my needs. The Blackberry Bridge works really well to handle email, contacts and for accessing the internet when a WiFi connection is not available. I am looking forward to the updates from RIM that will enhance the already terrific experience.

Nice But Limited

I purchased the BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet with 32GB Memory because of the price ($299) and the BlackBerry brand.
It was very easy to use, my 7 & 9 year olds learned its functionality within minutes. I like the size, look and feel.
However, it has a VERY limited selection of apps, no Kindle, no Nook, book reader apps. Few business apps that were useful for me. Overall it was a disappointment because it lacked the needed applications for my work & life. Had those been available I would still have it and be happy.

When I broke my old playbook, I bought the android galaxy tab 2 just to see what was the big deal was. I was very disappointed and returned it and went back to blackberry. The playbook runs smoother and the web browser is 100 times better.

I was very excited about getting Blackberry Playbook, which was advertised as a better alternative to iPad for business users. But I was utterly disappointed after using it for a day. First of all, App selections were surprisingly limited through BlackBerry App World for Playbook. Then I spent two hours to set up Blackberry Desktop Software trying to syn my music library; yet the program did not recognize Playbook as a known device. Tried on another computer, same problem. The device froze after I plugged and unplugged USB cable a couple times. Just one bad experience after another.
I don't think this product is ready for primetime yet. Blackberry is just too eager to launch this device to the market, and fail to test it thoroughly; nor have proper supporting environment to allow users to truly appreciate this device.

I'm a huge fan of Blackberry. So, I had to get this. I love it and can't put it down. My kids love all the apps. I haven't been on my laptop since receiving my playbook. The only problem I have is the tethering. I had problems w/ at&t getting it started. Other than that I love it. Hope this makes your choice easier.
